Chapter 20
“So you two switched places?” Hill asked, her arms crossed, her lip in a slight snarl like curve.
“It was his idea.” Fury said as they marched down the corridor “He said that was all I’m supposed to tell you.”
“Fury, a moment…” Nader asked, coming up behind them.
“Not now, I’m busy.” He said.
“The councle demands to see you.” She yelled after him.
“Tell the council they can get the hell off my ship!” Fury yelled before stopping in his tracks. He turned to a nearby guard.
“Hey, security.”
“Yes sir?”
“Get as many guys as you need and arrest the council.”
“Arrest? On what charges?”
“Treason.” Fury said as he continued on.
“So, what do we do?” Rogers asked his Fury. “Stark probably knows where we are now.”
“He does…” The other Stark said, figiting where he sat. “He knows and he’s going to be coming soon…”
“I was told that nanites that cause the infection only work on pure humans.” Scott said “They don’t work on Inhumans or mutants. Agent Logan and I should be able to go back right away. Since Evolt isn’t human at all, we can drag him along as well.”
“What about us?” Skye asked, tapping her foot and crossing her arms.
“Who told your that about the infection?” Banner interrupted
“Your Agent Johnson.” Scott said “She’s still alive and a traitor to SHIELD. Actually, I’m not sure traitor is the right word. She’s Stark’s adopted daughter.”
The Project Star members looked at each other concerned.
“I know.” Fury said
The collected group, even Evolt, still pinned by Logan, all looked at him at once.
“You knew Johnson was a mole?” Rogers asked.
“You don’t get this job if you don’t know what you’re doing.” Fury said “Speaking of which?”
He reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out a small device, speaking into it. “How’s things, Agent Simmons?”
“Going well Sir.” A voice came from the device. The voice of the infected Jemma on the helicarrier.
“You son of a bitch.” Rogers said with a smirk.
“Stark has his spy, I have mine. Between her brain power and Xavier’s mental training, Stark only reads what she wants him to read.”
“And you keep her locked up so no one gets suspicious...” Banner said.
“Not Stark, not Hydra, not the rest of SHIELD. We trusted no one with that information. We held her till we knew the time was right. And that time is now.”
He held is radio back up.
“Has the other me arrived yet?”
“He’s entering the room now.”
Fury and Hill entered the large room containing Infected Jemma.
“Agent Simmons, report.”
“I have your counterpart on the line, sir” she told him, as Hill went into shock. “All of your agents are present and accounted for.”
“That’s some good news…” He said “Last thing I needed was to chased around by old Kent…”
“What the hell is this?” Hill asked, looking back and forth at the two like a confused puppy.
“I’m sorry Ma’am,” Simmons said “The director and Professor Xavier thought it best no one else knew.”
“Is anyone on this damn boat honest with me?” She asked, throwing her hands in the air.
“I don’t know, are you honest with yourself?” Fury asked her, only to get a stink eye.
“You might look like my boss, but you’re not him.”
“I heard that, Maria…” Her Fury’s voice replied over the com link.
“Stark has launched every drone, half coming here, half going to The Raft.” Simmons said.
Hill looked between the two once again
“What’s the plan?” she asked.
