To grow old in
Summary
After Luz’s pain acts up at Fan Expo, Amity helps comfort her(I HAVE SOME MARVEL OPINIONS IN HERE BTW PLS SU IF YOU DONT LIKE THEM)

”Amity? Are you ready?” Luz calls, stretching his fingerless gloves over his scarred hands. Looking in the mirror hanging in their entrance hall, she quickly readjusts the Scarlet Witch crown resting on her forehead, the elastic tangled in her curly brown hair. Stringbean looks on in amusement, currently in the form of Sparky.

The couple is going to Fan Expo in one of their favorite non-canon couples–Wandagatha. The two had fallen in love with Wandavision when it first aired, and although Multiverse of Madness completely mutilated Wanda’s character (the directors hadn’t even WATCHED WANDAVISION), it was still their favorite show.

“I’m coming, Luz! Give me a hand please, I can’t get my necklace on,” Amity’s voice asks from their master bathroom. Luz smiles, and lightly jogs down the hall, and nearly falls face first into the ground because they tripped on the carpet again.

“Titan damn it,” they grumble, catching their balance on the edge of the bedpost. This always slightly aggravated her aches from Belos, and he slightly winces in discomfort as his fingertips start to burn.

“Luzzie, are you okay?” Concern drips from Amity’s voice as she peers around the corner. Her hair is carefully teased, her makeup minimal.

Amity’s been looking forward to this for forever, Luz thinks as he flexes his fingers, and although they’re still tingly, they figured it would go away. “I’m okay Ammy. Here, lemme put your necklace on.”

“Oh my Titan! The human realm will never fail to impress me!” Amity squeals in excitement, her hands shaking as if they had a mind of their own. Luz laughs in content at seeing her amazing girlfriend so happy. Though her depression was improving, it was nowhere near where she wanted it to be, so seeing Amity joyful at the con, Luz knows she made the right decision.

Even if his hands were still slightly burning. And his blue eye is watering. And he’s flexing his palm more like he does when it starts to act up–

Pull  through for Amity! Luz mentally scolds himself, shaking it as they go through the con, looking at the stands. Amity of course notices the little things he does whenever his chronic pain starts to act up. And this time is no exception.

“Batata, are you okay? You’re moving your hands in the way you do whenever your pains act up,” Amity suspiciously asks, glancing down at her partner’s hands, which Luz hastily hides.

“I’m fine Amity. You have nothing to worry about, okay sweetheart?” Luz reassures Amity, giving her a quick kiss as further proof. While Amity doesn’t fully accept the answer, she takes it for now and vows to look out for more issues further into the day.

However, if they wanted to go see the Infinity Saga panel, they had to be quick seeing as the panel started at 12, and it was 11:50. So, the day flew by, seeming to pick up pace with each event or panel they stopped by. And as luck would have it, although Amity and Luz won a convention fashion show, Luz wasn’t feeling the greatest.

Luz’s tingly sensations turned into burning ones which seem to always travel up his scars, causing him to shake his arms much more than often. They were drinking more water trying to cool the aggravated scars down, but it wasn’t working. Neither was the burning of his blue eye which always glowed brighter than usual when irritated.

Amity routinely stopped to ask her if she was okay, and Luz always gave her a squeeze of the hand, and a kiss on the cheek. But, it all came down after participating in an innocent enough dance competition.

The hypnotic sound of Poker Face’s beat pounds in her ears as she performs her carefully choreographed moves, landing perfectly after coming out of a backflip. People and demons alike always forget that she did cheer, which meant some serious tumbling was always involved.

I won’t tell you that I love you, kiss or hug cause I’m bluffing!

Lady Gaga’s distorted voice slams into Luz’s brain as she takes her second of rest, her exaggerated hand movements showing along to the lyrics. He can hear Amity scream in support along with the crowd, as he backed up to the edge of the mat.

With my muffin, I’m not lying! I’m just stunnin’ with my love glue gunnin’!

With a small running start, Luz launches himself into a front handspring, landing and repeating the trick twice more, landing after doing a double twist. The screams of people filled their soul, the acceptance of cosplayers nearly unmatched.

Just like a chick in the casino, take your bank before I pay you out,

Spinning to the middle of the mat, Luz prepared herself for the standing tucks. He barely registered the flaring pain in his scars, him unconsciously shaking his hands in his choreo to relieve some pain.

I promise this, promise this, check this hand cause I’m marvelous!

Flinging her arms up on the promise this beat, he swung them down and flipped, landing in the kneeling position necessary for the rest of the repeated dancing to finish up the song. It was then the burning really caught up with his mind, but they ignored it, favoring instead to continue dancing like nothing was happening. No one else other than Amity noticed the faint shaking in her choreography, and as soon as the song, Luz quickly came over to find her girlfriend’s eyebrows drawn in concern.

“What’s the matter, Amity?” Luz obliviously asks after gulping down some water.

“Luz, it’s time to go home, and you know it,” She states, putting her hand over her girlfriend’s. Luz’s eyes snap open in surprise.

“Ammy, the pain really isn’t that–” Of course as Luz is reassuring her girlfriend, he suddenly goes stiff as a board when she realizes that he could only see out of her left eye. Shit, they think as their hands vibrate, a sign that the pain has finally taken full effect.

Amity knows what the slightly wide eyed, quivering movements mean, and instead of saying anything like, I told you so, or, I knew this was gonna happen, or even, This is your fault, like her parents would’ve done, she guides Luz away from the compact crowds and finds a corner of the convention hall where basically no one is, and safety teleports her and Luz back.

The sun is already setting on the Isles as they reappear outside their cottage, with Amity (and much help from Stringbean) carry her into the house, opting to let them rest on the couch rather than the bed just so if he feels gross, he’ll be able to sleep in the bed tonight. With Luz safe inside, Amity rushes to the kitchen to get the ice packs, and orders Stringbean to shut all the blinds and lights off.

After about 30 minutes, Luz’s pain finally subsides to the point she can make a coherent sentence, and stand with Stringbean’s assistance. The dark room doesn’t make anything worse as his eyes readjust to seeing again. The burning fades to tingling again, but he knows this time it will at least be gone by tonight. Amity’s sitting on the ottoman opposite of Luz, fully showered and rereading the first Good Witch Azura book again.

“Ugh, did I have an episode?” Luz groans in annoyance, thinking it was one of the more intense ones. Amity’s eyes snap to her girlfriend’s, and they soften when they realize they’re okay.

“You did. But it was not a bad one. It was one of the ones where you froze, like, mid sentence,” she explains, moving to take a seat next to Luz. He frowned in irritation.

“I’m sorry Amity. I know there was an actress from one of your favorite movies there, and you didn’t get to see her panel–” Luz starts, then stops as Amity’s pale hand is moved in front of his face.

“Luz, I care that you are okay. I know the episodes can get bad, but either way, I’d never leave you home or anything just so I could go meet some actress,” Amity knows where the conversation is heading at this point, and she always feels the need to calmly reassure her that nothing will happen to them after all these years. Amity gives Luz a kiss to solidify her statement, filled with silent love. When they break apart, Luz’s soft eyes bore into Amity’s, and she smiles, cupping her partner’s face. “Now, why don’t you go shower, and I’ll make dinner,” Amity gently says, ruffling Luz’s slightly damp hair.

He gives a full belly laugh at that. “You saying I smell Blight?” Luz jokes, and Amity reciprocates the laughter.

“Just go you big goof!” She lightly pushes his shoulder, and Luz once again laughs in agreement, hopping on Stringbean to take her to their shower.

About forty minutes later (They needed longer showers after an episode to feel completely better) she was greeted to the sight of his girlfriend under their blanket on the couch, with Pizza and small snacks on the table. “Woah! What’s going on here?” Luz playfully asks, snuggling under the blanket.

“Well, I figured we both deserved to relax a bit, and since it’s been awhile, I was like ‘Y’know what? Why don’t we watch Wandavision again?’, so I set this up for us,” Amity proudly explains, and if Luz’s heart got anymore full, it would explode from the pure love they feel for Amity.

“Thank you Batata. Know that I love you,” Luz whispers to Amity as he cuddles into her larger frame, the first scene of the first episode playing again.

“I love you Luz. I’m so happy we have this place to grow old in.”
