Stephen Strange
"Are they like this all the time?" Stephen asked when he popped up beside you.
"More often than not," you replied as you watched your teammates' continued bickering.
"Would you like to get out of here?" he asked suddenly. "You did promise to catch up with me later on, but you never did."
There was a twinkle in his eyes and one side of his mouth was upturned slightly. He was trying to play the guilt card, and you both knew it. But, of course, you didn't mind. You'd let him get away with anything.
"Sure."
While he pulled out his sling ring, you glanced over at Natasha to give her a wink. She smiled knowingly in response.
"I won't wait up," she mouthed to you silently.
"Ladies first," Stephen said, motioning you towards the open portal.
"Thank you," you replied, slipping through before any of the guys could argue against the idea. Looking around, you found yourself in the middle of what must have been the New York Sanctum. You had never been there before. Many times, when you were in the city on other business, you had thought about dropping in to visit. But, since you'd never actually been invited, you had decided not to. Turning back, you saw that the fair was now long gone, and you and Stephen were all alone.
"Am I where I think I am?" you asked him.
"Yes."
"May I have a tour?"
"Of course," he answered with a smile. Placing one of his hands halfway up your back, he gently guided you through the building, telling you little tidbits and showing you artifacts as you went.
"It's fascinating.... completely fascinating," you gushed after awhile.
"I'm glad you like it."
His hand moved slightly lower down your spine, leaving a warm, tingling trail in its wake. He was watching you carefully, looking for any sign that you were uncomfortable with its newfound position. You responded by scooting in closer to him.
"Thank you for bringing me here," you said, turning so you could look up into his eyes.
"Thank you for coming," he responded as he stared down into yours.
"I'd always come for you, Stephen," you said without thinking, your voice slightly breathless from having him so close.
You watched as an unusual expression flickered across his features.
"Am I interrupting something here?" a man's voice asked.
Looking at Stephen, to the stranger, and back to Stephen, it hit you how your statement had sounded.
"No! No, I mean, Stephen was just giving me a tour. Who are you?" you asked, feeling hot with embarrassment.
"This is Wong," Stephen said after clearing his throat. "Wong, this is Y/n."
"I've heard a lot about you. It's nice to finally meet you," he said.
"It's nice to meet you too," you said.
"Well, I'll leave you two alone," he said, giving Stephen a smile.
"What were we talking about?" Stephen began with a wicked smirk once Wong was gone. "Oh yeah, I remember now."
"I did not mean that the way it sounded," you said.
"So, you don't think you would?" he asked.
"That's...that's not relevant."
"Mmm, an evasive answer.... that says a lot in and of itself."
"I-" you looked at his face and could tell that he had been baiting you. "You're a little shit, you know that?"
"Yeah, but I'm the one you want, so it must be working out for me."
"You seem so sure of yourself."
"Yeah, I am," he said as his hands traveled to your waist.
"Why? Did your magic crystal ball tell you that?" you said, placing yours on his chest.
"Something like that," he whispered before leaning down to give you a kiss.
When you parted for air, he said softly, "You know, the thing about the future, is that there are so many possibilities... just one little decision can change so many things. I've seen a lot of futures, and the one thing they all had in common, was you and me."
Moving your hand up to caress his cheek, you said, "I could have told you that, and I didn't need a crystal ball."
