Wherever life takes us
“Too early.” Peter groaned while Tony put both bags into the trunk of the SUV.
“You can sleep on our way to Philly.” Tony told him and checked the time once again just so they made sure that they weren’t late. “Get in the car, Pete. I’m not gonna ask you again.”
Peter made a sound of protest but got into the passenger seat anyways and put his seatbelt on. Tony was soon following and then they were on their way.
Peter was excited because he was going to school but he wasn’t actually going to be going to school. He would get to hang out with Lucas for two days which he was extremely happy about.
Plus his dad was going to be with him the whole time.
When they pulled up to the school, there was a coach bus out front with a bunch of kids saying goodbye to their parents with lots of suitcases lying around. Tony parked the car a bit behind the bus and before he was even getting out of the car, a man was walking up to them.
“Good morning, Peter.” Mr. Paul said and then walked around the other side to greet Tony. “Mr. Stark, it’s so nice to finally meet you. How are you?”
Tony shook the man’s hand before he even fully got out of the car. “The feelings mutual. I’m good, thanks.”
Tony shut his door and followed the teacher over to where the group of kids were. Peter attached to his side and as they walked closer to the bus, a lot of eyes were landing on them and staring in shock but thankfully everyone was too busy saying goodbye to each other so they didn’t come up to him.
“Mr. Stark, you will be given three kids as well as Peter for your group so you are in charge of those four kids.” Mr. Paul explained and pulled out a piece of paper with four names on it as well as all of their information.
“Alright. Where are they?” Tony asked because he wasn’t exactly sure how this whole thing would go. He didn’t exactly want to be babysitting other people’s kids but it’s what he signed up for.
“Um, they are… somewhere. I’ll get them soon but don’t worry, they’ll be on the bus and in the group the whole time.” The teacher reassured him. “The only thing you have to do is be responsible for sealing their door shut at night and make sure you do a headcount when we move from place to place.”
“Sounds easy.” Tony took the piece of paper and read over all the names and he recognized one name. Lucas. “When are we leaving?”
“Um… about fifteen minutes. We’re just waiting for everyone to say goodbye and get the suitcases into the bus.” Mr. Paul told him and put his hands in his hip to look around at everything going on.
“Pete and I are going to drive up there in the car.” Tony told Mr. Paul since he wasn’t sure if the man would want them to do that or not but Tony knew he wasn’t about to spend three hours on a bus with a bunch of teenagers.
“Oh of course. Our other parent helper is also taking his kid in his car.” Mr. Paul said and then pulled out another piece of paper and excused himself. “I’ll go get your group so you can meet them first.”
Peter leaned his head against his dad and tried to look at the list. “Let me see.” Peter looked at the list and all the names on it. He gasped when he saw his new friends Lucas’ name and then pointed aggressively at one of the other names. “Hey! That’s Liam. That’s the one who showed our teacher his butt.” Peter started laughing but Tony tried to hush him so he didn’t draw that much attention to them.
“Shh, okay. I’ll see who he is.” Tony covered his hand over Peter’s mouth for a second before taking it away and watching the teacher lead three wide eyed boys over to him.
“Mr. Stark, this is Liam, Lucas and Henry. They want to come with you and Peter in the car if that’s okay?” The teacher asked and Tony would have preferred to have asked Peter if it was okay since the teacher put him on the spot.
“Yeah, of course. It’s nice to meet-”
Tony was cut off by the butt boy walking over to him and looking up at him. “You’re Iron Man. I didn’t know Peter’s dad was Iron Man.”
“Yeah, I am-”
Tony was cut off again by Henry speaking up. “I already put all my stuff on the bus so can I go grab my blanket quickly?”
“Yeah. We’ll be here.” Tony watched Henry run off and then looked at the teacher.
“We’re going in two minutes so you can get them all in the car and then we’ll meet you guys at the hotel. See you in three hours.” Mr. Paul said and waved bye to them.
“I thought you weren’t coming because you can’t afford it?” Lucas asked Peter after giving him a side hug. “Is it true that you’re poor, Mr. Iron Man sir?”
Tony chuckled and shook his head. “Really, kid. You think I’m poor?”
Lucas shrugged. “Peter said so.”
“I was lying.” Peter said to Lucas so he stopped talking about it.
“Why were you lying?” Lucas asked but Tony decided to change the subject.
“How about we get in the car so we can beat the bus to the hotel?” Tony suggested and started walking over towards the car where everyone was racing to. “Do you boys need to get any last minute stuff from your bags?”
Henry came running back with a blanket wrapped around his shoulders and a pillow. “I’m here! Don’t leave without me!”
“Hey, I have the same blanket as you but it’s at home.” Peter said to Henry who stopped to show Peter the back of his blanket.
“Did you get it from the lego store when you brought a lego set?” Henry asked him.
“Yeah. Because they were giving out the free blankets.” Peter opened the passenger door and climbed into the car then shut the door before Henry could respond.
Tony tried not to laugh at that but it was funny to watch Peter associate with kids his age. He knew Peter needed more of that.
“Woah! There’s tv screens in the seats! That’s so cool.” Liam said as he shut the car door and started touching the screens.
“Once we get onto the highway you guys can watch something.” Tony told them and started the car. “Do you guys have your seatbelts on?”
“Do we all have to watch the same thing or can we each watch our own movie?” Liam asked Tony and leaned over Peter’s seat.
“You can watch whatever you-”
“Hey! Why don’t I have one? Mr. Stark, they have one but I don’t.” Henry said who was sitting in the middle seat. He cut Tony off again but Tony was already prepared to get used to that.
He reached up and pressed a button on the ceiling and then a screen came down. The bus was already driving away and Tony still hadn’t gotten everyone to put their seatbelts on yet. “We’re not going anywhere until we put our seatbelts on.”
Peter was leaning over the seat to look at his friends in the back so Tony tapped his arm and silently told him to get his seatbelt on. “Lucas, are you gonna watch The Lego Movie?” Peter asked and turned around to look at Lucas as Tony put the car in drive and started driving.
“Yeah! I haven’t watched it yet.” Lucas said but he didn’t turn his screen on yet.
“Mr. Stark?” Liam asked so Tony quickly glanced in the rearview mirror to look at him.
“Yeah?”
“Can I drive your truck? It seems like it goes really fast.” Liam asked excitedly and Tony didn’t even want to think about letting a fourteen year old wild child drive his car.
“It’s an suv, idiot.” Henry hit Liam in the chest so Liam smacked him back.
“Uh, no. Have you ever driven a car before?” Tony asked.
“No. My parents don’t have cars and my Uncle is a creep so I don’t want to be in a car with him.” Liam explained and gave way too much information for Tony’s liking.
“Why is your Uncle a creep?” Peter turned around and asked, curiously.
“Because he went to jail for some bad stuff but now he’s out.” Liam told Peter and leaned closer to Tony’s seat. “So can I try driving? I play GTA so I know I’ll be good.”
“You play GTA? How are you allowed?” Henry asked Liam with wide eyes.
Liam shrugged. “My mom doesn’t know. Only my dad knows but I told him not to tell or I’d tell my mom he’s cheating on her.”
Tony tried not to burst out laughing. Kids shared everything about their life and it was hilarious. He felt bad for the boy's mother but there wasn’t anything he could do about that.
“Why is your dad cheating on your mom?” Peter asked and Tony should be used to the fact that Peter had no filter and asked personal questions but he wasn’t.
“Because my mom cheated on my dad.” Liam explained and went back on topic. “So can I, Mr. Iron Man sir?”
“GTA is nothing like driving a real car.” Tony told him. “How old are you?”
“I’m fourteen and ten months so I’ll be fifteen soon.” Liam answered Tony and Tony knew he was young because he was adding those months in there to try and seem older.
“How are you fourteen but your parents let you play GTA?” Lucas asked him. “I’m not allowed to and neither is Henry. Are you allowed Peter?”
Peter didn’t know since he wasn’t a big fan of video games but he didn’t think he would be allowed. “No. I don’t want to play it anyways.”
Liam grinned. “There’s… s-e-x in it.”
Tony started laughing. The kid couldn’t even say that word. That was hilarious.
“Ew! That’s nasty, Liam. Next time I go over to your house, I’m telling your mom.” Henry crossed his arms and turned out to look out the window.
“What?” Liam looked confused but Tony could tell the other boys were uncomfortable, including Peter so he decided to change the subject.
“Who wants McDonald’s?” Tony asked but he regretted it once everyone started cheering excitedly.
He knew he would beat the bus anyways so they could afford to take fifteen minutes to get food but he was scared to take all four boys inside the restaurant so he decided to just go through the drive-thru.
After everyone got their food, Tony just accepted the fact that his car was going to need a professional cleaning once this trip was done with.
All the boys chatted for the next thirty minutes or so then they put movies on and Tony looked back to see them all passed out after about an hour. They weren’t even half way there yet but Peter was still awake.
“Try and get some sleep, bud. Everyone else is sleeping.” Tony reached over and ran his fingers through Peter’s hair.
“Mmm no. I wanna stay awake with you.” Peter said but his eyes were shifting shut so Tony let him fall asleep. He would admit that he actually appreciated the silence but he didn’t know how much more longer it would last for. They still had a bit over an hour of the drive left.
Tony turned off the highway and decided to cut twenty minutes off the trip but a few minutes later, someone was waking up in the back. “Mr. Stark?”
“Yeah, kid?”
“Um… could you pull over so I can pee?” Liam asked him and already started to take off his seatbelt while Tony was still driving.
“Uh, there’s a gas station about two minutes up the road here.” Tony told him but the road was a dirt road and that meant a ghetto gas station.
“That’s okay. I just really have to go.” Liam sounded desperate so Tony picked up the speed a bit and then pulled up to the gas station that had a gang of bikers all gathered around the pumps. Tony thought it would be safer to just send the kid into the bushes but they were already here.
“I’m gonna come in with you so we have to be quick.” Tony told him and got out of the car to open the back door since the child safety lock was on. After Liam was out, he triple locked his car since he had three sleeping kids in there.
He didn’t want to send the kid into the bathrooms alone where anyone could be in there just waiting for that and he also hoped that if Peter was ever in this situation then the adult he’s with also goes in with his kid for safety.
After Liam was done, the two went back into the car and Tony was so much more relieved now that they were on the road again.
“Are we there yet?” The only kid awake asked.
“About thirty more minutes.” Tony answered and turned back onto the highway to finish the drive. He was starting to get a leg cramp.
“Tell Peter to wake up because I’m bored.” Liam complained and leaned forward to touch Peter’s hair.
“Let him sleep. How about you go back to sleep too.” Tony suggested since he didn’t really want to have to entertain someone else’s kid.
“I’m not allowed to nap because then my mom thinks I’ll stay up too late but she’s not here so oh well.” Liam shrugged and went back to looking out the window.
Another kid was waking up but Tony didn’t know which one it was. “Mr. Stark, can you please pull over?”
Tony was already pulling over on the other side of the road.
“He just pulled over, Lucas, so too bad.” Liam pressed into Lucas’ bladder which caused Lucas to scream but none of the other boys woke up.
“Hey, Liam. Stop that. Do you mind going on the side of the road, kid? There’s not another stop for the next seven miles.” Tony put his hazards on and turned around to look at the kid.
“Yeah. I don’t mind. I’ll be quick.” Lucas said and opened his door which Tony was grateful that that one didn’t have the safety lock on it.
Lucas went into the grass to go to the bathroom and Liam started laughing at him for no reason but then that woke Peter up. Peter rubbed his eyes and let out a yawn then looked out his car window and started laughing as well but Tony didn’t understand what was so funny.
“I need to go pee too.” Peter said and went to get out of the car but Tony stopped him.
“Peter, do you actually need to go?” Tony asked because Peter goes out then the next thing he knows, Liam jumps out and he has to get them all back in the car which would be stressful.
“Yes. I really need to go.” Peter said and opened the car door then joined Lucas as if it was a fun social event.
Tony couldn’t be mad at them since they were just being kids but it was a bit stressful with them so close to the highway. “Hurry up, boys. We have to beat the bus and we still have twenty more minutes to go.”
The two of them jumped back into the car and Liam started poking Henry who slept through it all. “Wake up, dude. We’re gonna beat the bus.”
“Huh?” Henry woke up confused and rubbed his eyes. All four boys chatted about nothing interesting while Tony pulled off the highway and drove up to the hotel.
“Woah! This looks expensive. Look at the doors!” Liam pointed out and all the boys turned to look at it.
Tony drove around to the back since he actually didn’t know what to do with everyone now. He wanted to take them inside but he didn’t want to lose anyone.
“We’re a bit early so if we go inside then you guys can’t wander around. Deal?” Tony turned around and narrowed his eyes at Peter and Liam since he knows his kid and he figured that Liam had the same mischievous personality.
“Fine. What are we doing when the losers get here?” Liam asked and took off his seatbelt.
“I don’t know.” Tony got a bunch of yes’s from the other boys and then he was getting out of the car and opening up the back door on his side for everyone.
Peter went to his side again and Lucas joined in next to Peter while Liam and Henry walked ahead of them a bit. Once they got inside the hotel, everyone’s eyes widened besides for Tony’s since he’s seen it all before.
There was a huge waterfall above them and a lot of palm trees in the lobby. Liam and Henry ran up to one and reached out to touch it. “I’ve never seen a palm tree before! Woah!”
“This is so cool!” Henry added and then Peter left Tony’s side to go run up to them as well to touch it.
“It feels sticky.” Peter said and wiped his hand on his shirt which left a smear of some yellow substance.
“Don’t touch it boys. It’s just for show.” Tony told them since he could already see the workers eyeing them. That or the fact because Tony Stark is in Philadelphia with his son and three other boys.
“I’ve never seen a palm tree before.” Liam pointed out again and wiped his hands on his pants. “There’s more over there!”
Everyone looked to where Liam was pointing to and Tony already regretted bringing both boys into the hotel since they were getting too excited.
“Hey, if we climb over the rope we can touch the waterfall!” Liam yelled again and then all the boys were running over to try and do that very illegal thing that Liam suggested which would definitely get them all kicked out.
“No. Can you guys just sit somewhere and stop moving.” Tony followed them and already felt his patience thinning. He could barely manage Peter when it was just him and now there was triple the trouble.
“We’ll just be quick, dad.” Peter said and was the first one to hop over the rope but Tony grabbed his arm and lifted back back over.
“No. How about we all get ice cream? Do you guys want that?” Tony suggested because he saw a mini ice cream shop and it would get them to sit still for at least fifteen minutes.
“Yeah! I’m getting chocolate!” Tony wasn’t sure which kid yelled that but he followed them over to the ice cream shop and they all got ice creams while he got a coffee with extra beans since he needed something strong to get him through the rest of the day.
It took twenty minutes for the whole grade nine class and some of the grade twelves to arrive and Tony was thankful for the fact that he was with Peter since he still didn’t like the idea of both grades mixing in.
Mr. Paul walked over to Tony and his small group with the extremely loud group following behind him. “How was the trip?”
“It was good. We got here about twenty minutes ago.” Tony told him and stood up from where he was sitting on the bench.
“Alright. I’m going to tell everyone who they are going to be sharing a room with and then we’ll head up and get settled before we go to the museum that’s about a ten minute walk from here.” The teacher was just talking out loud and Tony could tell that he was really stressed.
As the teacher started calling out names of four boys per room, Peter went to Tony’s side and leaned his head against his arm. Tony looked down at him and saw the stressful look on Peter’s face so he wrapped his arm around him.
The teacher then turned around and handed a key to Liam. “Liam, Henry, Lucas and Peter in the next room.”
Peter shook his head and let out a whimper against Tony then shoved his whole head into his body. “No. No.”
“It’s okay, Pete. You can come sleep with me, okay?” Tony whispered to him because the last thing he wanted was Peter crying in front of everyone over getting put in a room with anyone but his dad.
Peter wiped at his eyes and nodded his head then pulled away from Tony. “Yeah.”
Tony would prefer if Peter sleeps with him anyways but he’d always give Peter the option to sleep with his friends although he was sure that wasn’t going to happen.
After everyone got their rooms assigned, someone came over and handed the suitcases to the three boys that were on the bus and then they all headed up with instructions giving them all twenty minutes to get settled and then they had to meet back in the front lobby.
Tony walked with his group to their room which was the only room at the very end of the hallway, across from everyone else’s. They went inside and immediately started looking around and jumping on the beds so Tony pulled Peter aside but Peter was too busy looking in the bathroom with Liam.
“Pete? Peter, hey.” Tony walked into the bathroom to turn Peter around so he had his attention. “I’m going down to the car to get our suitcases but you stay here and have fun.”
Peter shook his head and grabbed onto his dad’s arm. “No. I’ll come. Then we can come back up.”
Tony pulled Peter’s hand off of him. “No, Pete. You have to stay here. I’ll be so quick.”
Tony wanted Peter to stay because the memories he was going to make on this trip with his friends was going to be memories that he would carry with him for a lifetime and Tony didn’t want Peter’s separation anxiety getting in the way of that.
“But-”
“Stay here and I’ll be back soon.” Tony pressed a kiss to Peter’s head and left the room.
Peter sadly watched his dad leave and was about to follow him out so he could go get the bags from the car with him but then Liam was sticking his foot down the toilet and Peter had to see how that turned out.
“Now flush it!” Lucas yelled and went to reach for the flush but Liam pushed him away.
“Don’t! My foot will go down the drain, you idiot.” Liam took his foot out and tried to wipe it on Lucas while Peter and Henry were belly laughing.
After the time was up and they all had to meet in the lobby, Peter hadn’t even realized how much time had passed and that he barely thought of his dad being away from him during that time.
He was proud of himself but he knew it was only a matter of a few more minutes until he started to get bored and his mind started to wander.
Tony knocked on their door and Lucas opened it up to let him in. “Peter! Your dad is here!”
Peter jumped off the bed and ran over to Tony. “Liam stuck his foot in the toilet and Lucas was going to flush it on him.”
Tony chuckled. He was glad he wasn’t there for that. “Did he really?” Peter nodded his head and leaned against his dad's side. “Put your shoes on because we have to go down to the lobby now.”
Liam jumped off the bed, already wearing his shoes. “I already have my shoes on.”
Tony cringed. They all had their shoes on and were jumping on the bed. He didn’t say anything though because those weren’t his kids and Peter was the only one who had taken his shoes off.
The simple little action made him proud.
All five of them went down to the lobby and stayed for an extra amount of time while the teachers put everyone into their groups and did a headcount.
The plan was to all walk as a group to the Museum that was a few blocks away and then once inside, the grade twelves would go one way and the grade nines would go the other way then everyone would meet back up at the front entrance.
Tony was enjoying watching Peter actually socialize with someone his age. He rarely got to do that since Peter was with him 24/7 and if he wasn’t with him then he was with one of the Avengers so Tony thought that it was very important for Peter to laugh and be a kid with actual kids.
Another one of the parents walked up beside him. “I would ask what ones yours but I already know.”
Tony looked over at him. “Yeah. Which ones yours?”
The guy sighed loudly. “Mines the one with the red shirt up front. His name is Tyler.”
Tony looked up front and saw the man’s son. He hasn’t seen him before just because he was only paying attention to his little group. “Yeah, I see him up there.”
Tony got stuck talking to the man all the way through the museum and he wanted to bang his head against a wall because he didn’t want to talk to anyone since they were all annoying, information seeking vultures.
He was grateful when Peter and Liam walked up to him and interrupted the conversation without a care in the world but Tony didn’t mind. He said bye to the other dad and let Peter drag him towards one of the exhibits.
“I told Peter that it’s impossible for Sharks to not have bones but he keeps saying they don’t so tell him he’s wrong.” Liam whined out and crossed his arms.
Peter frowned and looked up at his dad. “Sharks don’t have bones. They only have cartilage.”
Tony actually had no idea who was right. He wasn’t a genius in marine biology. “I’ll look it up and see who’s right.” Tony pulled out his phone and looked it up, only to see that Peter was in fact right. “You’re right, Pete. Sharks have zero bones.”
Peter smiled and turned to Liam. “I told you so.”
“How did you even know that? That’s such a weird fact.” Liam uncrossed his arms and narrowed his eyes at Peter.
Peter just shrugged. “I just did.”
The teacher blew his whistle again and Tony mentally screamed. His ears were going to be ringing for a month after this trip. “Alright! I want everyone to find their groups and follow me!”
Tony’s group was already all together so he just did a quick headcount and got into the line with Peter attached to his side now and Lucas following Peter then Liam and Henry joined in.
Tony had no idea that there were small roller coaster rides at the museum but apparently there was and everyone was getting excited about that.
When they got to the lineup, Mr. Paul waved Tony up so Tony had to leave his group's side. “You guys stay here. I’ll be right back.”
He walked to the front of the line and tried not to laugh at how stressed out the teacher looked. “This ride is sixteen and up so this group can’t ride it.”
That sucked. All the kids were extremely excited about this. “Is there another ride we can take them on?”
The ride worker looked extremely shocked to see Tony but tried his best to remain professional. “Um… yeah. There’s a ride that they can go on just down that hall.”
“And that one can have fourteen years olds in it?” Mr. Paul asked just in case and the worker nodded hesitantly. “This museum is for an older attraction so that’s the only one that they can go on.”
“Alright, thank you.” Tony said to the man and walked down the steps. “Maybe not the best place to take the grade nines.”
The teacher nodded and wiped his forehead. “Yeah. Maybe not. Hopefully this ride is fine.”
While the teacher delivered the sad news, Tony walked to the back of the line where his group was and felt bad since they all looked so sad. “You guys are too young so we’re going to the next ride.”
“But this one looks fun.” Liam complained and leaned over the railing to look at it with a frown.
“You can come back in two years.” Liam groaned and jumped off the ledge.
“Whatever. That’s so stupid.”
Tony looked at Peter who looked like he was either about to start protesting or crying. “Come, Pete. It’s okay.”
Peter accepted his dad’s invitation and leaned against his side. “I want to go on it.”
“I know, bud, but you can’t.” Tony felt so bad.
Peter whimpered and rubbed his eye so Tony looked down and hoped that Peter wasn’t crying. “We’ll come back in two years.”
Peter nodded his head. “Yeah. Then I can go on it.”
When they got to the next ride, it was a bit different from the last one since this one was four people on a ride and they got laser guns to shoot the targets.
Everyone’s mood immediately went up once they saw the ride and Peter was pulling away from Tony to lean over the railing.
“I’m gonna get the most points.” Liam told everyone, confidently which started a whole argument as to who would get the most points. Once they got to the front, since they were the last ones in the lineup, Tony noticed a weight requirement for the ride and just heart dropped.
“We have to check your weight to make sure that you are above one hundred pounds.” The worker said monotone.
Henry stepped on it first and he passed then climbed onto the ride. The scale didn’t show how much someone weighted, just whether they passed the required weight limit.
Tony knew Peter would fail because of his spider bite making him weigh as much as a ten year old. He couldn’t say anything though and it seemed to have slipped Peter’s mind.
Peter stepped on the scale after Henry with a huge smile on his face then the scale beeped and the worker turned to look at the screen then back at Peter. “Sorry, kid. Next.”
The smile fell from Peter’s face. “What? Can I go on now?”
The worker shook her head, looking unimpressed. “Sorry but you don’t pass the weight requirement.”
Peter stomped his foot and whined. “Do it again. Maybe it’s wrong.”
Tony walked over to Peter’s side to pull him off the scale. “You can’t go on this one, Pete. Come.”
The worker didn’t even seem phased to see Tony there which Tony was grateful for right now.
“No! I-I couldn’t go on the other one and I wanna go on this one.” Peter told Tony or the worker and looked at him desperately. “Please.”
“Fine. Step off and step back on and I’ll see.” The worker told Peter so Peter did just that but the scale beeped again. “Sorry. Next.”
Tony pulled Peter off the scale and tried to get him to be quiet but he felt so bad for him. “It’s okay, Pete.”
“No! I want to go with them.” Peter looked at Henry on the ride and felt his eyes burn.
Liam stepped onto the scale and then looked at Peter. “Why can’t you come?”
“I want to!” Peter told him with tears now falling down his cheeks.
“Oh.” Was all Liam said and stared at Peter for a few seconds while Lucas got weighted then jumped into the ride.
Tony rubbed Peter’s back and watched the ride start to move into the dark tunnel then they disappeared. Peter ran over to the railing to lean against it to try and see anything but he couldn’t.
“We’ll do something together, Pete. It’s okay.” Tony grabbed his arm and pulled him away from the railing but Peter was crying now and making a scene. Tony didn’t understand how Peter wasn’t embarrassed over crying so openly in public like this but he didn’t have time to think about it for long.
“Please. I wanna go on it.” Peter reached his hand out to the ride that they were walking away from.
Tony pulled him by his hand away from the ride for a bit. The ride said it was twenty minutes long so they had twenty minutes to wait.
“You can’t, Pete. I’m sorry.” Tony felt awful. There wasn’t anything he could do but he didn’t even understand why there was a required weight limit but it was all because of Spider-Man.
Peter choked on his crying and so Tony found a hallway that was away from everyone else and had a waiting sofa at the end of the hallway so he took Peter down there.
“Where are we going?” Peter asked through his crying and turned around to try and see the ride again.
“You need to stop crying and calm down before we do anything else.” Tony told him and sat down on the sofa. He tried to pull Peter down too but Peter shook his head and decided to just stand there and cry while looking at Tony. “Peter. It’s not a big deal. We can go on other rides another time. Just you and me.”
Tony knew it was a really big deal to Peter. First he wasn’t allowed on the first ride and now he was the only one not allowed on this ride.
Another reason to separate Peter from everyone else and take him away from having a normal life.
“Not fair.” Peter cried out and sank to the floor so Tony dragged him onto the sofa and rubbed his back while Peter cried onto his lap. “I wan-I want to go on it with everyone else.”
“I know you do but you can’t.” Tony told him again. He knew the hard part was going to be when the rest of the boys come back and start talking about how much fun that they had and Tony wasn’t going to tell them not to talk about it.
“Not fair.” Peter said again and rubbed his face on Tony’s leg before he sat up and rubbed at his eyes.
“What do you want to do together? We’ll do anything.” Tony asked him but he already knew what Peter was going to say.
“I want to go on the laser ride.”
Tony sighed sadly. “Oh baby. Besides that?”
Peter whimpered and thought about it. “I want um… I want the Star Wars cup with the slushy on the inside that I saw over there.”
Tony smiled and wiped under Peter’s cheek. “Alright. Let’s go get that together.”
Peter led Tony to where he found the drink at some small shop on the other side of the building. Tony had no idea how Peter spotted the shop but he wasn’t surprised since Peter loved his Star Wars.
“Woah. It’s so cool. And it has a blue straw too!” Peter took the cup from the worker and examined how cool it looked. It was a BB-8 robot with the drink inside which looked really cool.
“I’m glad you like it, bud.” Tony pulled Peter against his side and walked with him back to the ride to wait for everyone to get off.
There were another few kids there and the teacher who was leaning against the railing. He looked over at Peter and Tony, confused. “I thought you guys were on the ride.”
“No, Peter’s too light so we got this drink instead.” Tony told the teacher and watched him glance down at Peter, obviously seeing his still red rimmed eyes and his face morphed into understanding and pity.
“Alright. That looks like a cool drink, Peter.” Mr. Paul told him and went back to marking stuff down on a piece of paper.
Peter followed his dad over to the bench and Peter sat on his knees so he could turn around and watch the rides come out one by one with a sad look on his face.
“Hey, Pete?” Tony tried to get him to focus on something else since he didn’t want Peter to feel left out but he knew Peter was already feeling left out.
“Mhmm?”
“Come face this way.” Tony patted the seat but Peter shook his head and went back to drinking his slushy and watching all the rides come out.
The last ride was the one with all the boys on it but Peter didn’t make a move to get up. “We have to go now, Pete. I think we’re leaving the museum now.”
Peter reluctantly got up and followed Tony over to where everyone was getting back into their groups and lining up. All three boys ran over to Tony and Peter with huge smiles on their faces so Tony tugged Peter against him so he didn’t start crying again.
“Did you see how far I shot that target? I definitely won from that shot alone.” Liam exclaimed to the group.
“No way. That shot wasn’t even the best of them all. Plus you just had a better angle.” Lucas added and shoved Liam.
“Was it fun?” Peter asked them.
Lucas turned to him. “Yeah! It was a lot of fun. Why didn’t you come?”
“Because I wasn’t allowed because the scale was stupid.” Peter answered with a frown and went back to drinking his shushy.
“Woah! Is that drink from Star Wars?” Henry asked and touched the drink.
A faint smile appeared on Peter’s lips. “Yeah. My dad got it for me.”
“Can I see it?” Liam asked. He took Peter’s drink from him and examined it, similar to how Peter did before. “This is so cool. It even has like fake rust on it.”
Tony watched all the kids talk about Peter’s drink and the Star Wars movies. He was glad that their conversation changed from the ride to the drink then onto the topics of movies because he already felt really bad for Peter not being allowed on the ride.
They walked to a restaurant next to the museum where they had lunch and did some sightseeing around the city but that didn’t last too long because all the kids were starting to get bored and running wild so they decided to walk back to the hotel early where they got two hours to change into dress clothing so they could go eat at a restaurant in the hotel.
“Come with us Peter.” Liam begged and grabbed Peter by the arm to pull him into his hotel room with Lucas pushing him from behind.
“No, we have to go get ready and you guys do too.” Tony told them and stopped by the door of their room.
“Please, Mr. Stark. Just a few minutes then Peter can go.” Lucas begged him and tried to give Tony his best puppy dog eyes but it did not work on him. He was nowhere near Peter’s puppy dog look.
Tony’s not just thinking that because Peter is his kid, he’s thinking that way before he even started thinking of Peter as his kid, in the first week or two when they started hanging out, Peter used to use his puppy dog and Tony would melt right then and there and give in.
He agreed only because Peter looked like he was having fun. “Alright, you guys have an hour and then it’s time to get ready. Pete, come here for a sec.”
Peter ran over to Tony and looked up at him. “Yeah?”
“Do you want me to bring your suitcase down here so you can get ready with them-”
“No. No, I don’t want to. I want to stay with you.” Peter gave Tony his puppy dog eyes which had the same result for Tony.
“Okay. But if you want to, you can change your mind and I won’t mind one bit.” Tony told Peter because he wanted Peter to change his mind but he knew Peter wouldn’t so he didn't want to force it.
“Okay. But I won’t change my mind.” Peter hugged his dad and watched him leave. He was a bit sad like he always was whenever Tony left but he was having fun with his friends.
Tony went back to his and Peter’s hotel room which was on the floor above since Tony couldn’t get in any on the other floor. He pulled his phone out of his pocket and called Pepper to tell her how things were going.
She answered on the second ring so Tony didn’t think she was busy. “Hey.”
“Hi. How’s things going on the school trip?”
“It’s going well. Peter made two new friends. I don’t think he talked to them much before but I’ll ask him about it later tonight and then the other boy, Lucas, he’s new but Peter mentioned him before.” Tony explained to her and felt like Peter since he was rambling.
“Oh that’s so nice, Tony. It sounds like he’s having so much fun.” Pepper said.
Tony smiled. “Yeah. He is. It’s nice to see him talk to kids his age. Although he wasn’t allowed on two of the rides that are here which was not fun. I felt so bad for him, Pep.”
“What? Why wasn’t he allowed?”
“He was too young for the first one and too light for the second one because, you know.” Tony didn’t want to say it out loud but he knew that Pepper knew what he was talking about.
“Aw, the poor thing. He must have felt so left out.” She said.
Tony couldn’t agree more. He spoke on the phone with her for almost an hour but then he had to go get the boys and grab Peter.
He knocked on the door and checked the time, seeing that it was five and that they only had an hour now. To his surprise, it was Liam who opened the door and not Peter. “Peter! Your dad is here!”
Tony looked towards the beds and saw Peter come running out towards him. “Hi dad.” Peter gave him a hug and then leaned against his side. “We’re watching people on the ground. This one guy tripped and fell and it was so funny.”
“Oh really? Have you guys been doing that for an hour?” Tony asked him.
Peter shook his head. “Not all hour. We also jumped from bed to bed and Liam tried to knock on the window so people looked up but no one heard us.”
“It sounds like you boys had fun but we have to get ready so Peter are you coming with me or do you want me to bring your stuff-”
“I’m coming with you.” Peter rushed out and held onto Tony tighter. “I have to get my cup first.”
“Pete and I will come back down in fifty minutes to see if you guys are ready so be ready.” Tony warned them all but it fell on death ears.
Him and Peter left the hotel room and walked up to theirs. “I haven’t even seen our room yet. Is it the same as their room?”
“It’s a bit different but nothing special.” Tony told him. They reached their floor so Tony handed Peter the key card since he knew how much Peter loved to put the key card in for some reason.
“Woah! But why’s there two beds?” Peter walked in and immediately saw the two beds but he wanted to cuddle his dad all night and not sleep by himself. He looked over at Tony who was shutting the hotel door and locking it behind him.
“That’s just the way the room comes.” Tony told him and placed Peter’s suitcase on the bed to pull out his decent looking clothes.
“But I’m still sleeping with you, right? Right, dad?” Peter sat on one of the beds and leaned closer to his dad to ask him.
“If that’s what you want, bud, then yeah. Now do you want to shower first or no?” Tony pulled out a white button up shirt and some jeans.
“No showering but I want to go see the bathroom.” Peter got off the bed and ran into the bathroom. “Where’s the bathtub?”
“There isn’t one.” Tony told him from the bedroom while he dug in Peter’s suitcase to grab clean underwear and socks.
“What? Why? There has to be a bath so I can take one in the hotel.” Peter ran back out and threw himself down onto the bed.
“I don’t know why, there just isn’t. Take off your clothes and get changed while I go get ready in the bathroom.” Tony placed Peter’s clothes on the bed in front of him and went over to his suitcase to grab a light blue dress shirt and jeans.
Peter watched his dad go into the bathroom but he didn’t want to wear jeans or a dress shirt. Stupid clothes law.
He pulled off his clothes and changed into his new underwear then jumped onto the bed and grabbed his dad’s phone that he saw on the bed. He already knew what his dad’s password was so he had no problem getting onto his phone then he went onto his camera and started taking silly selfies.
He tried to lie on his back and hold his legs up with his feet holding the phone to take a handless selfie but then Tony walked out and scared him.
“What are you doing?” Tony asked but nothing Peter did anymore phased him since he’s seen it all and more.
Peter tried to put the phone back between his feet. “I’m trying to take a selfie. Want to join me?”
“No. Why aren’t you dressed yet? We have fifteen minutes, Pete.” Tony grabbed Peter’s ankles and pulled him down on the bed. “Get dressed you little maggot.”
Peter playfully pushed Tony away and started laughing so Tony grabbed his foot and tickled the bottom of it. “Ahhhh!”
“Shhh, Peter. Don’t scream. People are going to think I’m hurting you.” Tony immediately let go of Peter’s foot and reached over to cover his mouth but Peter pushed him away.
“I can’t stop! You’re trying to tickle my foot and it’s my most ticklish spot.” Peter rolled onto his stomach and quickly crawled to the top of the bed.
“Okay. I won’t tickle your feet again but you need to get dressed.” Tony grabbed Peter’s clothes and tossed them onto the bed that Peter was now standing on. “Come, Pete.”
Peter shook his head and tried to sit on the headboard frame. “Peter! Off. You don’t do that.”
Peter quickly took his leg off and turned around. “I’m not wearing jeans or a dress shirt.”
Tony sighed. “If you don’t then you won’t be allowed in the restaurant. Do you want to be left out again?”
Peter frowned and shook his head. “No. But what if everyone went down there with just their underwear on?”
Tony handed Peter his socks and held out his jeans for him. “Then we’d all get kicked out.”
“But if everyone went in their underwear then they couldn’t say no to everyone.” Peter argued with him and pulled his pants up. “These are too tight.”
“They’re jeans. It’s supposed to be tight.” Tony pulled the back of the jeans up because he didn’t want Peter low riding and would never let him low ride.
“Wedgy!” Peter yelled and Tony chuckled.
“Put your shirt on and your shoes then we can go.” Tony said as he put his own shoes on but Peter wasn’t that easy.
“What time is it?” Peter asked but refused to get off the bed.
“We have twelve minutes to get to the lobby and we still have to go see if the rest of them are ready.” Tony walked over to the bed and grabbed Peter’s wrist then led him to the doorway. He didn’t understand why Peter was so difficult sometimes but he thinks it has something to do with Peter trying to rest his patience subconsciously and to see if he would start yelling at him. “Shoes on.”
“Did I bring any other ones? I wore these ones all day and my feet want to wear different ones.” Peter went to go look in his bag so Tony pulled his arm and leaned down to get his shoes on himself.
“Slip your foot in.” Tony ordered because this was an occasion they couldn’t be late for since people were counting on them.
He grabbed the dress shirt off the bed and put Peter’s arms through since they didn’t have the time for Peter to do it himself. He started buttoning it up and was going to leave the top ones unbuttoned a bit but he didn’t want any extra attention on his son. He was too young for that.
When they finally got down to the boys’ hotel room, Tony was exhausted and wanted two coffees. He should have made one in the hotel room before he left.
Lucas opened the door and Peter ran in. “Are you boys ready because we have five minutes?”
Tony walked in the room and it looked like a tornado hit. Liam was shirtless and looking like he was about to start crying in the corner. Tony walked over to him and kneeled down in front of him. “What’s wrong, kid?”
Liam pointed at Henry with a red face and tears in his eyes. “That dumb butt sprayed my shirt with blue toothpaste and now I don’t have a nice shirt to wear!”
Peter sat down next to Liam and looked at him. “Why did he do that?”
Liam shoved Peter. “Ow! Hey!” Peter looked up at Tony and expected him to do something about it.
“Liam, don’t shove him. Are you sure you don’t have any other shirts?” Tony pulled Peter away from Liam because this boy clearly wasn’t having it and Peter didn’t have a filter no matter what the situation was.
“No! Punish Henry!” Liam shouted and tossed a remote at someone.
“You can use one of Peter’s shirts, alright? But we have to grab it quickly because we only have two minutes now.” Tony stood up and waited for Liam to wipe at his face and stand up as well.
Liam was almost the same size as Peter, just a bit bigger than him but the shirt would fit perfectly.
“You can wear my shirt, Liam. And my pants if you want.” Peter rubbed Liam’s back like Tony had done to him so many times. Tony smiled at the simple gesture while they quickly went upstairs and Tony grabbed a shirt for Liam that was almost identical to Peter’s but it was kinda cute with the two of them matching.
“Thanks. It’s comfy.” Liam buttoned up the shirt and then the smile was back on his face. Tony wondered what kind of family he came from. From what Liam told him in the car, he knows that his parents weren’t all that dependable. He felt a bit bad for the kid.
It took another thirty minutes for everyone to meet up in the lobby and do a headcount then go to the restaurant and get seated which was really stressful for all the adults that were in charge.
Once they were seated and their food was ordered, things were a lot calmer. The restaurant was really dark with dimmed lights but it was relaxing.
“Dad. I told Liam about that one time I got stung by a jellyfish and he said that he did too when he was nine.” Peter told Tony and sat back up on his knees again so Tony stopped telling him to sit properly since he knew it wasn’t working.
“Where did you get stung?” Tony asked Liam.
“In South Carolina.” Liam answered him.
Tony chuckled. “No, I meant where on your body, kid.”
“Oh um, it was my leg and my hand.”
Peter grabbed another breadstick and handed it to Tony so he could put the butter on it for him. “Put lots because I like to lick the top off.”
The rest of dinner went pretty much like that. Tony tried to get Peter not to throw any type of tantrums too much in front of literally everyone that could tease him about it later if they saw but Peter didn’t seem to care and continued to act as if it was just the two of them.
Although it was still Tony’s job to try and save Peter some potential embarrassment.
Tony paid the bill for everyone but he did it in private since he didn’t want a million thank yous from everyone so he pretended to go to the bathroom to do that. When he got back to the table, Peter was bouncing in his seat, either from the sugar or something else.
Peter looked up at Tony when he saw him and grinned. “Mr. Paul said we’re all going swimming.”
Tony wasn’t exactly excited about that. Peter didn’t know how to swim and he wasn’t going to make Peter wear a life jacket with his class. He didn’t want to ruin Peter’s excitement though so he put a fake smile on his face. “Woah. That’s gonna be fun. I don’t think you packed a bathing suit tho-”
“Yes we did! We all need to go get changed right now.” Peter got off his chair and grabbed onto Tony’s hand.
“Mr. Stark, I actually don’t know how to swim so I might just sit out.” Lucas said, reluctantly and Tony felt a bit better that Peter wasn’t the only one.
“That’s fine. If you want to sit out you can but you should put your bathing suit on just in case you change your mind.” Tony said and tried to keep up with Peter tugging him by the hand.
Everyone was either taking the stairs up which Tony didn’t know why they were doing that since there was an elevator available, and if they weren’t taking the stairs, they were all crowding into the elevator.
Tony took Peter up to their room after sending the boys off to change. Peter ran to his bag and started pulling everything out to find his bathing suit.
“Don’t take everything out, Pete. Then I have to put it all back in.” Tony sighed and walked over to try and charge his phone a bit before they went down.
“Are you going swimming too?” Peter asked him and grabbed his bathing suit out.
“Uh, no. I don’t plan on it so stay in the shallow end please because I don’t feel like jumping in with my clothes on.” Tony turned around and bent down to shove everything back into Peter’s bag.
“Nooo. Please come.” Peter begged.
“I didn’t even bring my bathing suit, Pete.” Tony brushed his hair back and looked down at the pouty face he was receiving.
“You can use mine.” Peter offered but Tony bursted out laughing.
“I don’t think so but thanks for the offer.”
Peter frowned. “Why not?”
“Because,” Tony cupped Peter’s face in his hands. “your bathing suit won’t even fit my pinky finger never mind getting it on my body.”
Peter stuck his tongue out and pulled away from his dad so he could change and then head down to meet his friends in their hotel room.
“Hey! We have matching bathing suits.” Peter pointed out and ran over to Henry who had the exact same bathing suit as Peter.
“Woah! That’s so cool. Does yours have a pocket on the back?” Henry asked and turned Peter around to look at the back. “Yeah! It does!”
“Dad!” Peter called out. “Look, me and Henry match!”
Tony had been watching them the whole time. He loved how something so simple could make them so happy. If only they could stay so youthful and innocent.
“That’s so cool. Look at you guys.” Tony leaned against the door and waited for Liam and Lucas to walk out of the bathroom or wherever they were.
After everyone was changed, they all got down to the pool and they were the first ones there. The only other person there was a lifeguard who was reading a book but put it down once people came in.
“Liam! Wait for me!” Henry yelled and chased after Liam so they could both jump in together.
Lucas stayed back with Peter and took their time taking off their shirts and shoes. “Can we go in the hot tub?” Peter asked Tony.
Tony looked over and saw a hot tub there. “Yeah, if you guys want.”
Peter looked over at Lucas who nodded his head then they got up and was about to step into the hot tub when the whistle blew.
“How old are you guys?” The lifeguard asked and walked towards them.
Peter hesitated and looked down. “Um, fourteen.”
“Sorry. Hot tubs for eighteen and up.” The lifeguard said and Tony couldn’t help but laugh annoyed, these poor kids. Especially Peter, everything was off limits for them. He wondered if it was just this place or if it was everywhere and he just never noticed because he was always old enough.
Peter stomped his foot so Tony got up to go get him since he knew Peter was not having it.
“Can we put our feet in it?” Peter asked the lifeguard.
“Sorry, kid. Come back in four years.” The lifeguard told him and turned to walk away and Tony looked at Peter who got that mischievous look in his eyes then before Tony knew it, Peter was stepping into the hot tub.
“Peter. Get out.” Tony rushed over to the hot tub while the lifeguard was blowing his whistle. “Now.”
Peter turned to Tony and shook his head so Tony walked to the ledge and grabbed his arm then pulled Peter out easily. “We’re going back up to our room if you can’t listen-”
“No!” Peter yelled and Tony suddenly realized that they had an audience so he walked Peter over to the pool chair and sat him down rather roughly.
Lucas looked uncomfortable so he decided to go swimming but he held onto the edge the whole time.
Everyone started walking in one by one and jumping into the pool and Peter frowned then looked over at Tony. “I want to go swimming.”
Tony leaned closer to him so he could speak without anyone hearing them. “Are you gonna behave?”
Peter nodded his head.
“Can you stay in the shallow end?” Tony asked him but he couldn’t be mad if Peter decided to venture off into the deep end. He wasn’t scared of Peter keeping himself a float, he was scared of all the other kids who might accidentally pull him under.
“Mmmmm… yeah. I guess.” Peter shrugged his shoulders and looked at Tony through his eye lashes.
“Okay. Go have fun.”
Peter jumped up with a smile on his face and ran over to the steps to jump into the pool. He walked down to the last step but it was already up to his chest but he continued to walk further until he accidentally slipped under and his head bounced back up again.
Tony’s heart was pounding because this wasn’t Miami where he could force some floaters on Peter and force him to wear it.
Peter swam over to his friends and grabbed onto the pool ledge. “I’m out of breath.”
Lucas was holding onto the ledge of the pool with Peter so Peter lifted himself out so he could sit on the pool deck to catch his breath.
“Can you swim?” Liam asked Peter and grabbed his ankle.
“No. So don’t pull me in.” Peter kicked Liam away and crawled across the deck until he got around the corner of the pool so he could jump in there.
“Wait for me, Peter!” Lucas climbed out of the pool and ran over to go catch up to Peter.
Tony watched Peter the whole time since he was too scared to take his eyes off of him but he enjoyed watching Peter hang out with his friends. The lifeguard blew his whistle and let everyone know that it was time to leave since the pool was closing so Liam and Henry ran into the change room and Tony groaned because he didn’t want to have to chase them.
“Come out guys.” Tony told Peter and Lucas. Lucas listened but Peter stayed in since no one else was rushing out so Peter didn’t feel the need to either. “Now Peter.”
“Can we come back later?” Peter asked while he reluctantly got out of the pool and went to go grab his towel but then saw Lucas heading for the change room.
“Maybe. You don’t need to change because you don’t have any clothes.” Tony told Peter but he knew Peter wasn’t listening so he sighed and went into the change room to get them all.
When Tony walked into the change room, all four boys were either trying to climb up on the top of the bench above the sitting bench or they were already up there. “The pool is closing so we have to leave.”
“We have to change first.” Peter told his dad and went to turn around so he could climb down but he slipped and Tony quickly lunged forward to grab his arm before he banged his head off the hard floor.
“You’re all done now. Get off, boys, and grab your stuff because we’re leaving.” Tony lifted Peter off the bench and set him on his feet.
He waited for everyone to climb off as well and followed him back to the pool chairs to grab their stuff and then Peter and him dropped them off in their hotel room.
“Are you sure you don’t want to sleep in there with them tonight?” Tony asked Peter once they got back to their hotel room.
Peter shook his head. “No, I want to stay with you.”
“Well I have to go tape their door up before we go to bed but how about you think about it.” Tony suggested but he really wanted Peter to try it. He didn’t want him to miss out on memories that were going to be made and since he already missed out on two rides then this would hopefully make up for it.
“No. I want to sleep with you.” Peter said sadly and looked up at Tony through his eye lashes.
“Okay, go shower and get your pyjamas on and then we’ll go lock their door.” Tony pressed a kiss to Peter’s forehead and walked into the bathroom with him to help him with the shower since he knew Peter always struggled with turning on showers in new places.
“Why do you have to tape their door?” Peter asked and stuck his hand into the shower to test the water.
“Because your teacher told me to do a headcount then put tape on their door so no one leaves their room in the middle of the night.” Tony explained to Peter and placed a towel on the bathroom counter for him.
“Is anyone gonna tape our door?” Peter asked, curiously.
“No. But we still can’t leave in the middle of the night.” Tony told him but he knew Peter would continue to ask questions so he walked out of the bathroom and left Peter to finish up.
Peter finished up in the shower and got dried off then put his pyjama pants and top on then walked into the room. “Can we go put the tape on the door now?”
“Yeah, you ready?” Tony put his phone in his pocket and left the room with Peter.
Peter ran down the hallway and knocked on the door and waited for someone to open it. Tony got to the door and put his foot between the door so it wouldn’t close on him.
“Headcount.” Tony pushed the door open and tried to find all the heads in the room. “Where’s Liam?”
Peter jumped on one of the beds and tried to do a handstand.
“Liam! Mr. Stark wants you!” Lucas yelled into the bathroom and pushed open the door.
“Why? Tell him I’m in the shower!” Liam called back but Tony heard him so he knew the kid was in the room.
“Alright. All three are in here. Let’s go, Pete. You guys be good and remember we have to get up at six tomorrow and meet in the lobby at seven.” Tony told everyone but he was pretty sure that no one was listening to them.
“Are you sleeping with us, Peter?” Lucas asked and jumped onto the bed that Peter was on, making him bend at an awkward angle.
“No. I’m sleeping with my dad.” Peter said and did another flip on the bed.
“Oh.” Lucas frowned. “I wanted to sleep with you because Henry and Liam are sleeping together.”
Tony felt bad for the kid since Lucas obviously liked Peter and wanted to be friends with him but Tony knew that Peter didn’t want to sleep anywhere else.
“Oh, well, now you get a whole bed to yourself so you can stretch.” Peter told him and jumped off the bed.
“Come, Pete. It’s time to go to bed now.” Tony was waiting by the door with his tape in his hand.
“I want to put the tape on.” Peter took the tape from Tony’s hands and shut the door. “Do I just put it here?”
“Yeah, make sure it’s on.” Tony flattened out the tape once more.
Back in their room, Tony let Peter play on his phone since he told Peter that the tv was broken so they didn’t stay up watching static tv for an hour. He went into the bathroom to shower and get ready and then just for the fun of it, to see what Peter would do, he pulled back the blankets on the other bed and got into the bed.
Peter put the phone down and looked at him. “Oh. Why are you sleeping in that bed?” Peter asked and climbed out of the bed to hop into the one that Tony was in.
“Oh? Do you want me to join you?” Tony asked and tried his best to not laugh at the situation. He was bored and tired and he liked messing with Peter.
“Yeah. I was waiting for you.” Peter and Tony climbed into the bed together and shut the lights off. “Thank you for coming with me on the trip.”
Tony rubbed Peter’s back. “Are you having fun?”
“Uh huh. A lot of fun but I know that if you didn’t come then I wouldn’t have come and I would have missed out on all the fun. Also, if I came and you didn’t come then I would be sad and I would miss you.” Peter rolled over so he could put his head on his dad’s chest instead of the pillow.
“I’m glad you’re having fun with all your friends, bud. I know you don’t get to hang out with anyone a lot.” Tony spoke softly because he could already tell that Peter was nearing sleep.
“Yeah. Can you rub my back again?” Peter asked and shifted a bit so he was more comfortable.
Tony smiled and put Peter to sleep by rubbing his back.
.
.
.
The next morning was crazy.
For some reason, Tony’s alarm on his phone didn’t go off and that was because Peter must have turned something off when he was playing on it so that was frustrating.
Tony had to practically drag Peter out of bed and into the bathroom to get dressed but surprisingly, all the boys were already ready to go with their bags packed and everything.
They loaded everything into the bus with Tony and Peter putting their stuff into the car but they didn’t plan on leaving until the nighttime.
The rest of the day was exhausting. They went to some outdoor Museum like thing that was boring in Tony’s opinion but everyone else seemed to like it.
They went to a market and an abandoned jail that was rumoured to be haunted and was now a hotel. Peter begged him to take him back so they could spend the night but of course you had to be twenty one to spend the night there. Philadelphia was not a place for kids to take a school trip so whoever picked this designation should be fired.
Later that night at just past nine, it was time to leave and head back home and all Tony could think was finally. The day was fun but it was exhausting and Peter would have been in bed if he was at home so Tony just needed to keep him awake until they got into the car.
“Can we drive back with you guys again, Mr. Stark?” Liam asked him once everyone started to board onto the bus.
“Yeah, of course you guys can.” Tony led them all to the car and chuckled at how they all walked like zombies with pure exhaustion.
“M’tired.” Peter leaned against Tony and leaned heavily against him.
“You can sleep once we get into the car.” Tony reassured him and opened up the passenger door to let Peter climb in and get comfortable.
“Where’s my blanket?” Henry asked and started moving things to look around the car but Tony saw it and handed it to him. “Thanks.”
Tony climbed into the car and drove away after everyone was buckled in. It barely took fifteen minutes for everyone to pass out. Peter was the first one to fall asleep and Tony hoped that everyone stayed asleep because he didn’t feel like stopping or entertaining anyone right now.
An hour into the drive, Peter started to wake up so Tony ran a hand through his hair to try and get him to stay asleep but Peter was waking up.
“Mmm. Need to pee.” Peter said and sat up but kept his eyes closed. “Dad. I need to pee.”
“Okay. I can’t pull over right now, bud. Can you wait five minutes?” Tony asked and checked in his rearview mirror. The bus was behind them and he tried to get away from it but the bus kept following him.
“No. I need to go now.” Peter said desperately.
“How come you just realized so late?” Tony asked him. He didn’t understand why Peter’s body didn’t tell him before it was urgent.
“Because I thought I was looking for a bathroom in my dream, please, I need to go.” Peter said more desperately so Tony checked for cars and pulled over onto the side of the road.
“Okay. Just go here but don’t go too far because look how busy the highway is.” Tony felt his heart racing since it was dark out and he couldn’t take Peter into the forest that was next to the Highway so Peter had to go right there.
“Okay.” Peter said and tugged down his pants so he could go and all Tony was thinking of was possible people driving by and looking at Peter. “It’s cold.”
“Hurry up then.” Tony said and sighed in relief once Peter finished and jumped back into the car and quickly shut the door.
Tony turned around and saw that all three boys were still sleeping thankfully.
The ride back to the school was a lot faster than the ride to the hotel which was nice since Tony wanted to get home as soon as possible and get Peter into bed.
He still had to go to school tomorrow but Tony wasn’t sure that that was going to happen.
There were a whole bunch of parents waiting for their kids outside the school. The bus pulled up right behind Tony and parked in the front while Tony drove up to the side and parked there so he could leave right after.
“Hey, boys. We’re here. Your parents are waiting for you.” Tony got out of the car and opened up the back door but he wasn’t these kids' parents so he didn’t want to touch them to shake them awake or anything.
“Excuse me, Mr. Paul said Liam was with you.” A woman’s voice said so Tony turned around and looked up to see who must be Liam’s mom and dad following behind.
“Yeah, he’s sleeping still.” Tony told her and was surprised that she didn’t even seem phased that she was talking to Tony Stark. Tony knew that she was more focused on seeing her kid.
“Oh.” The woman smiled and walked next to the seat to cup her kids face. “Hi Liam. Wake up, bear. Roger, come take him out.”
Roger, who Tony amused was the dad, shook hands with Tony. “You must be Peter’s dad. My kid told me Tony Stark had a son in his class and I didn’t believe him. Wasn’t even sure he would be allowed on the trip after the little stunt he pulled the other day.”
“Yeah, Pete told me about that.” Tony tried not to laugh again but he could tell the dad found it funny. He stepped aside to let Roger get access to his son.
“Liam, wake up.” Roger shook Liam a bit and undid his seatbelt then grabbed his head so it didn’t bang against the door. “He’s a deep sleeper, Marie. He ain’t waking up.”
“Just pick him up, Roger. Stop making things difficult.” The mom said and smacked her husband on the arm so he grabbed Liam rather roughly and went to lift him up but Liam woke up and squirmed out of his dad's arms.
“Dad. Why are you picking me up?” Liam asked, annoyed and rubbed at his eyes once he was on the ground then threw himself into his mom's arms. “Mom! I missed you. I can’t wait to tell you about my trip. Mr. Stark was in our group and it was so much fun.”
“I can’t wait to hear all about it. How about you say thank you to Mr. Stark.” The mom brushed the hair from Liam’s face and pushed him towards Tony a bit.
“Thanks, Mr. Stark. Hopefully Peter will wake up so I can say bye to him.” Liam pulled away from his mom and peeked into the car.
“He’s really tired so I don’t think he’ll wake up until tomorrow morning.” Tony didn’t want anyone waking Peter up.
“Fine. I’ll wake up Henry and Lucas.” Liam climbed back into the car and started shaking both boys. “Get up! We’re here! Lucas I see your dad!”
Peter woke up from the yelling and turned over but he saw that his dad was gone. “Dad?”
Tony heard Peter wake up and sighed. “I’m here, Pete.”
Peter climbed out of the car and ran over to his dad’s side. “M’tired.”
Tony wrapped his arm around Peter and pulled him against his side. “Then why did you wake up?”
Peter pointed at Liam who was fighting with Lucas. “Liam’s big mouth.”
Liam jumped out of the car and ran over to his moms side. “Peter, bye.”
Peter waved bye to Liam and yawned. “Bye.”
