Chapter 2

For days Ron avoided her, she had tried to sit beside him in Defence Against The Dark Arts but Harry got there first. She waited outside his classes and looked for him during lunch but to no avail. “That's it he hates me” she huffed as she fell into the cozy couch in the Slytherin common room. “He doesn't hate you Theo, he's just one of the many brainwashed to think all Slytherins are egotistical muggle hating sociopaths' ' Daphne replied, flipping through her potions textbook. “And what if he’s right” Draco said as he strolled by with his newly formed posse with him as the self assigned leader. “Nobody asked you” Daphne said politely while Theo picked up the closest pillow she could and flung it in his direction. The posse scattered laughing maniacally as they did so. “You shouldn't let him get to you,” Daphne said. “How can I not, he’s everywhere all the time constantly tormenting me” Theo replied, shoving her head into a pillow. “He only torments you because you let him” Tracey piped up. “That is very true,” Daphne agreed. Daphne, Tracey and Theo had become their own trio the past couple of days. They seemed to be the only people in their class who didn’t have their heads stuck up their ass. Sometimes Theodore and Blaise would join them but they spent too much time with Draco for Theo’s liking. “Okay when did I become the enemy here” Theo said, throwing her hands in the air. “Come on” said Tracey, standing up and grabbing her text books and shoving them into her bag. “We’re going to be late for dinner”

Theo felt better after she talked to Fred and George, maybe if they didn’t hate her the rest of the Weasleys wouldn’t hate her either. “You're eating again” came a voice from behind her, it was Theodore. He slid into the place beside her “Yeah, I’d be insane to not eat at these feasts. Felt like i was missing out” she said, shoveling a spoonful of mash and gravy into her mouth. The Hogwarts food was some of the best food she’d ever had in her life. On par with Mollies and she never thought she’d eat better food than Mollys. Theodore grimaced as he looked at her plate. “Brussels sprouts?” he gagged and Theo laughed. “I’m a sucker for an underdog” Theodore laughed but still looked warily at her plate. “Aren’t you going to eat?” she asked and Theodore shook his head. “No I’ve eaten already I just wanted to come and say hello” he smiled and Theo smiled back. “I better go, me and the lads are going to go watch a Slytherin Quidditch practice” Theo rolled her eyes “Ugh Quidditch, the stupidest sport on earth” she scoffed. Theodore looked as though she just stabbed him in the chest. “Dosia, you wounded me” he said, holding his fake wound and falling back onto the bench, slumping to the floor. Theo laughed as she picked up a brussels sprout on her fork and waved it in Theodores direction. “Be gone Theodore Nott” she laughed as he scrambled to his feet and out of the Great Hall. “He soooooo fancies you” said Daphne in a sing-song voice. “What!? No he does not” Theo scoffed, popping the Brussels sprout into her mouth. “They do say love is blind” shrugged Tracey. “Love!?” Theo nearly choked on her brussels sprout “Guys I’ve known the dude for maybe a week, I’m certainly not in love with him” Tracey and Daphne exchanged looks. “Whatever you say” Tracey shrugged “The color of your cheeks right now would suggest differently” sniggered Daphne.

Before Theo could respond familiar voices rose above the usual hussle and bussle of the Great Hall. Theo turned and saw the back of Fred and George standing over Ron. “Ugh not again” Theo muttered, sinking into her seat and covering her face with her hands. “Every day, I swear it’s every day” Tracey said, raising her head to look over since she was facing the direction of the Gryffindor table. “I know they’re brothers but this is ridiculous, it’s every day” Tracey was still desperately trying to get a good look at the Gryffindor table. Fred and George had been making a spectacle of Ron in front of everyone in the Great Hall every day this week. “It’s because of me” Theo groaned. Daphne and Tracey shared a look “Why would Fred and George Weasley care that Ron’s ignoring you?” asked Tracey only for Daphne to shoot her a look “You don’t have to answer that Theo” she assured but Theo didn’t mind. These girls were her friends and she had grown to trust them in the short amount of time they’d known each other. “It’s a long story” Theo sighed as she mentally played tennis with the idea of telling these girls her life story. She decided that they’d find out anyway it may as well be from her. “I don’t talk to my dad because I don’t live with my dad” she confessed, Daphne reached over and grabbed her hand and Theo nodded at her in thanks. “It’s okay I’m not sad about it, he couldn’t take care of me and that’s okay. My mother was friends with Ms Weasley so it made sense that they’d take me in after she passed away” Tracey looked shocked while Daphne looked sympathetic. “Wait…so you’re telling me that you grew up with the Weasleys?” Tracey asked, Theo nodded. “That makes so much sense” Tracey muttered more to herself while Daphne shot her another look, Theo squeezed her hand, signaling that it was okay. “So that’s how you know Ron and the twins, I was wondering because I didn’t think that they would have taken pre wizarding lessons” Tracey rambled and Theo froze for a second. “How do you know I took pre wizarding lessons?” she asked. Tracey looked up “Draco told me he knew you back then” This information shocked Theo, she thought he didn’t remember her. “Wait so you knew Draco before this?” asked Daphne. Theo nodded “Unfortunately” she happened to catch a glimpse of the clock in the corner of her eye. “Crap, guys look at the time” she said, grabbing her bag from under the table. “Shit we’re going to be late for Charms” cursed Tracey. The girls hurried out of the Great Hall which was virtually empty.

They got to the Charms classroom out of breath and sweaty. There were no seats left together so Theo sat beside Theodore Nott which prompted Tracey to make kissing noises which made Daphne giggle. Daphne sat on the other side of Theodore and Tracey had to sit beside a Gryffindor boy who always seemed to be blowing stuff up. “Great, pray I have my eyebrows at the end of this class” she muttered as she went to her seat. “Nice of you to join us” Theodore whispered to her. “The brussels sprouts were just so good” she whispered back which made Theodore smile. She reached into her bag to take out her textbook, Flitwick hadn’t seemed to notice they were late. She put her textbook on the table and her heart dropped. It was her potions textbook. “Crap” she muttered, Theodore looked down at the textbook and then back at her. “This is Charms Dosia, notice how there’s actually natural light in this classroom and the fact it’s not a dungeon” she shot him a glare and he smirked. “You can share my book” he said, moving the textbook to the middle of the table. Theo happened to turn around and see Tracey pretending to make out with her hand. Theo quickly shot her the middle finger before turning back around to catch up on where they were. “Hey Theodosia, right?” a boy asked. “Yeah, and it’s Theo,” she said. “It’s Harry…remember from the train” he said, Theo turned around. “Okay? You want me to worship at your feet?” she asked sarcastically which got a giggle from Daphne and a snort from Theodore. “No I wanted to talk to you about Ron” he said defensively “What about him golden boy” Theodore sniggered at her comment. “Can you get Fred and George to lay off him, they’re really giving him a hard time” he asked and this time it was Theo’s turn to laugh. “They’re brothers Harry, it’s not my fault Ron’s being a dick” she turned back around signaling her uninterest in the conversation but Harry didn’t seem to get the memo “Don’t you think this whole thing is silly, you and Ron are best friends” Theo scoffed, this boy had some nerve , she didn’t even know him. Suddenly she felt herself get defensive. Ron was her friend, not Harry’s. “What would you know about it Potter, you’ve been around five minutes and you think you have an insight into Ron’s twisted head. News flash you don’t because if anyone did they’d put him down” Theo slammed her textbook shut and stormed out of the classroom. “Ms Crouch” Professor Flitwick called after her but she didn’t listen.

She marched towards the courtyard and sure enough there was Ron with Dean. “Listen you twat, you’re the one being a prick so tell your speccy friend to back off” she said, storming up to him. “What are you on about?” Dean looked between them and decided he didn’t want to be a part of this conversation and left. “He bombarded me in charms class telling me how our fight is stupid but I don't seem to recall us ever starting a fight do you” Ron was rubbing the back of his head. “What is your problem? Is it because I’m a Slytherin now you think I’m evil” Ron’s face paled “No Theo I…I’d never think that” Ron looked nervous. “Good he should be nervous” Theo thought. "Then what? What is it? Why have you been avoiding me” “Because…” he started and Theo waited. “Because what Ron?” he looked up at her “Malfoy got in my head okay, I know I shouldn’t have let him but he did and I…” Theo stood with her arms crossed “What do you mean he got in your head, got into your head about what?” she questioned. Ron stood silent for a bit, Theo could see a range of emotions on his face, nervousness, embarrassment, shame, guilt. “He told me about your brother. That was enough for Theo; she stormed off “Theo wait” but she didn’t. She was going to kill Draco Malfoy.

What had Draco said about her brother. Ron didn’t know about her brother; she wasn’t even sure Ron knew she had had a brother. Molly never spoke of it, it was a painful topic for her considering she was Barty’s godmother. Theo had never thought about them finding out, she had never planned for this. “What the hell did you say to Ron?” Theo walked straight up to Draco in the common room and for a split second in his face she thought she saw fear before his usual arrogant face appeared. “Nothing that wasn’t true,” he laughed. Theo didn’t stop once she reached him, she pointed her finger into his chest forcing him to step backwards. “I swear to god Malfoy” she spat “Calm down I just told him things I know to be true” Theo saw red as she backed Draco into a corner “Listen here you little rat, we may have taken pre wizarding lessons together but whatever you think you know you don’t. So don’t talk to people about me got it” she seered before turning around to walk away. “What so I can’t tell people that Theodosia Crouch is related to one of the most infamous death eaters of all time” his laugh pierced her ears and before she knew it he was on the ground clenching his nose and she was standing over him, her fist throbbing. “Woah, hey!” Some year 6s came rushing over to help Draco off the ground but Theo rushed up the stairs to her Dormitory before she could be confronted.
