Chapter 5

The Slytherin common room had found itself to be crowded once again. For of course Slytherins were the best party throwers. With gracious hosts, with loads of butter beer, and the best taste in music, the slytherin common room was the place to be and especially after their win.

“Sure seems like our golden boy is having fun?” Charlie smiled behind his cup of butter beer, motioning up to his friend. The group's eyes followed to look up at Neil, who was standing up on the table, with his own drink. He was dancing with two of his quidditch friends.

“He deserves it.” Knox shrugged. “Best quidditch player here.”

“Charlie?” It was Gloria, with her big blonde hair and bright red lipstick and suddenly Charlie remembered that she was a Slytherin.

“Gloria?” Charlie smiled. He tilted his head a little bit to see if the pretty girl would speak now or forever hold her peace, and how he wished it was the second one.

“Can I talk to you? Alone?” She asked, eyeing up the rest of his friends.

“Uh, okay.” Charlie decided, why not? She sounded and looked pretty serious about the two of them talking alone. The last thing Charlie wanted to do was make anyone uncomfortable. They made their way up the stairs.

“What does she want now?” Todd asked as the group watched the two of them walk away.

“To talk alone.” Knox rolled his eyes, didn’t believe that for a second. If there was anyone who disliked Gloria, it was Knox. That girl was nothing but drama who just wanted to use people for their money, Knox thought. It reminded him of someone but he couldn’t quite remember who.

“Maybe they’ll get back together, and actually be a better couple.” Meeks suggested but the thought haunted the group.

“Don’t say that.” Pitts laughed.

“Hey guys.” Cameron walked back up to the group with a few drinks in hand. One pumpkin juice for Todd, another Butterbeer for Knox and a Butterbeer for Charlie.

“Hey Cam, you just missed it.” Knox laughed. “Gloria came and grabbed Charlie.”

“Oh yeah? For what?” Cameron laughed, Todd caught his sour expression that was gone in a second.

“To talk.”

“They went upstairs? To talk alone?” Cameron asked, getting quite nervous. “That’s weird.”

“I’m sure it’s nothing Cam, Charlie wouldn’t do anything-“

“Especially not with Gloria.” Knox said.

“Yeah, you’re right.” Cameron glanced over and gave Todd a silent thank you. Todd knew about Cameron and Charlie and he didn’t even mean to find out. It was a late night and the couple went out for a walk and found a small British shorthair cat. Charlie ran up to it calling Cameron over by using the word babe.

Todd let them pet him, but he couldn’t believe what he was hearing. The couple began talking about getting a cat together and leaving it at Cameron’s parents house because they would love it. And they kept going on about their future. They were both so equally in love that Todd had to ask Cameron about it the next day, Cameron admitted to everything.

Cameron looked more worried by each passing minute that Charlie didn’t return downstairs yet. It’s not that he doesn’t trust Charlie, it was Gloria he didn’t trust. She has made it very clear on multiple occasions that she was in love with Charlie and wanted to be with him.

The party carried on and the group almost forgot about Charlie and Gloria. So Cameron began to walk up the stairs, not sure if it was jealousy or anger that he was feeling, he knew he was anxious for sure. And he found the two of them at the top of the stairs, just sitting down talking.

“Charlie?” Cam called out, his boyfriend glanced over at him, with a huge smile. Cam couldn’t even be mad at how cute his boyfriend looked, but then he glanced over at Gloria and all his anger returned.

“Hi Cam.” Charlie smiled.

“What are you doing up here?”

“She just wanted to talk-“

“Because if there’s something going on, I don’t want to be the last to know.” Cam sighed.

“Cam, there is nothing going on. She simply wanted to talk.” Charlie sighed, reaching for Cam’s hands. He glanced over at Gloria who clearly had too much to drink, she leaned against the wall. “I am simply just talking to her, okay?”

“Talking about what? Is she okay?”

“She’s fine. She’s just drunk and sad right now.” Charlie said. “I’m simply talking to her, nothing more.”

“Okay.” Cam gave a small nod.

“She just wants to be together and I told her I can’t because I’m obviously in love with someone else.” Charlie said and Gloria groaned a bit. “She just needs to drink some water.”

“I’ll go get some for her.” Cameron sighed, standing up and turning around.

“I’ll go with you.” Charlie suggested.

“Will she be okay? Why don’t we all go?” Cameron thought. Sure he hates her but the last thing he would want is for her to be alone while in this condition.

“Come on Char,” she sighed as the two boys helped her up, they began walking down the stairs with Charlie on her right side and Cam on her left. “Can you at least tell me who the lucky girl is?”

“My lips are sealed,” Charlie let out a small laugh. “But I’ll send you a wedding invite.”

“Gloria, you really do deserve someone who’s going to love you back, wholeheartedly.” Cameron gave her a small smile.

“Thank you Cam, that’s very sweet of you.” Gloria smiled back as the three of them finally made it to the bottom of the stairs and their way over to the drink table. Cameron poured her a small cup of water.

“Drink some, please.” Cameron quietly begged as the girl hesitated to grab the cup.

“Hey guys,” the rest of the boys walked up slowly to the three. “What’s going on?”

“Gloria is drunk so we’re getting her some water.” Cam explained to his friends despite Knox glaring at the poor girl.

“Hey guys!” Neil ran over to the group with his loud voice and bright smile. “Come dance with me!” He begged his friends and began pulling on Todd’s arm.

“Seems like you’ve got it covered.” Todd gave a small nod to the two girls Neil was dancing with earlier, who were both waving him back over with eagerness. Todd didn’t mean for it to sound bitter or mean, it just kind of happened.

“Well at least someone wants to dance with me.” Neil sighed, looking at his friends before quickly turning around and going back to being the center of attention.

While the group stood awkwardly, Charlie grabbed one of Gloria’s friends to take the girl safely back to her room. “I’m going to my room.” Todd said quietly.

“Yeah, I’ll head out too, I’m a little tired and it looks like everyone’s starting to calm down.” Knox sighed. The party had been going on for hours at this point and teenagers had started heading back to their rooms or falling asleep in the common room.

“Okay, I’ll walk Cam back to his dorm, I have to talk to him about Gloria.” Charlie announced.

“I think I’ve had enough tonight, Meeks and I can walk back.” Cameron sighed. He would be lying if he said it didn’t still bother him that his boyfriend was talking to his ex girlfriend alone in a dark hallway. And of course he trusted Charlie but he still didn’t have the best feeling about the whole thing. And quite frankly, Cam was just too tired to have a serious conversation right now.

“Are you sure?” Charlie asked but it sounded like a quiet plea. The last thing he wanted to do was have Cam go to bed anxious.

“Yeah, he’s fine, we can walk back to our dorm together.” Meeks pushed up his glasses.

“Okay.” Charlie threw his hands up in surrender and watched as the two redheads walked out together.

“You can walk us Charlie!” Pitts gave a huge smile.

“Sure, why not?” Charlie sighed as he took Todd and Pitts and began walking out. Knox went up to his room and Neil walked in two hours later with red lipstick on his cheek and Knox rolled his eyes.
