London, England. Years Prior
"You fucking quit?!" Isadora jumped in her skin from George's surprise visit. She was cleaning out her locker into a box provided. "You shouldn't have done that!"
She turned her head to him, "should've told me that earlier. Kinda already did."
"Issy!" He strode towards her, "you are one of the best agents I know, why would you quit?"
Isadora licked her lips, contemplating her next move, "something personal has come up. I just can't work here anymore."
"Did something happen on the job?" George was quick, "were you attacked? Ghost-locked?"
"No!" That's the point. "I-It's just hard to explain Georgie!"
George slumped onto the bench, "Isadora you're scarring me." His voice was as shaken as his body. "we've been able to tell each other everything. I get if it's too much, but the basics of the basics would be nice."
Isadora heft out a hard sigh. She dropped beside him with her rapier dropped to the floor. She balled her fisted in to held steady herself.
Isadora faced him, "you need to keep this secret, got it?"
"Yeah absolutely," George nodded.
She steadied herself, "I wasn't ghost-locked."
"What? That's a good thing, what are you talking about!?"
"No. George." Isadora grabbed onto him. "I wasn't ghost-locked."
His gaze had fixed onto her, "you were touch and survived?"
"Yes!" Isadora stopped up in a heartbeat. "And I could hear them as clear as day."
"Plenty of people can hear ghosts. That's why we're here."
"No! This was different!" Isadora's heart began to run. "I could hear everything! Every cry! Every whimper The two brothers that were there were begging for my help! They were begging for the other agents to not hurt that little girl! But they still did!" Isadora
was loosing breathe. "One of them touched and dragged my arm towards them and it felt like how another ALIVE person would!"
George stood up, backing away from her, "Issy you need to calm down!"
"Sorry! Sorry, I!" Isadora placed her hands over the face as she tried to easy her anxiety. "It's a lot to take in. It's all too much."
"You need to talk to someone about this." George tried to steer away.
"I talked to my supervisor but he didn't believe me, and neither did the head of department," Isadora sighed, then returned to her locker. "That's why I had to quit. Maybe I should've gotten fired so I'd at least get something out of it."
George stood on the other side of her locker, "you shouldn't be surprised by how powerful you are."
"Georgie!"
"Issy!" George chuckled. "Come on! You're the daughter of Camille and Damien Buchanan! The famous psychics who understood ghosts the most! More then Fittes or Rotwell."
"Just because I'm their offspring doesn't mean I possess that kind of strength in talent!" She closed her locker and took the lock off it too. "Benny's talent was fading before he died."
"Not talent! Gifts or-or abilities!" He leaned against the lockers. "You could have those!"
Isadora chuckled, slamming her body against the lockers. Her body went limp and fell onto the cold floor, "I thought you said psychic connections are a weak science?"
George joined her, "unless...someone is able to prove me wrong?" He grinned sharply, leaning towards her.
Issy rolled her eyes, "ugh fine! Maybe, something is happening to me and I need to figure some things out." She fidgeted with the ends of her sleeves. "I think I have to move back to Hampgre."
"What?" George sat up straight. "You can't leave London! You can't just leave me here!"
"George if I'm gonna figure out about what's happening to me, I need to do it outside of my parents reputation," she huffed. "I have to get away from the buzz. Over ten years later and people still nonstop conspiring about their death."
"You really wanna move back in with your bitchy aunt and terrible cousin?" George questioned her decision. "Weren't they the reason you moved here anyway?"
"Well yeah, they were a huge factor for it, but there is another place I can live in. My family has a cottage there. That's where my brother brought us when we first moved away." A light smile sparkled on her face. "And who the fuck said I was leaving you!?"
George was prepared, "Seriously? Not only did you resign from Fittes, but you're leaving the city as well!"
"And you think that's gonna stop me buggering you every chance I get?!" Issy's smile returned to her face. "No way in hell is that happening ka-RIM!" Isadora nestled her head onto George's shoulder, and his rested against hers. "you're my only real mate here
Georgie. I'm not gonna give up."
"I suppose you're right there," George sighed in defeat. "You are extremely clingy."
Issy chuckled, locking her arm around him and pulling George closer, "we're going to be completely fine. I 100% guarantee it."
