yanfei is a good friend.
Heizou watched the sun rise, his unusual purple hair uncombed and messy, sticking on the back of his neck as the wind rose to bless him with a little comfort. He ran his fingers through his hair and pulled his head away from the window. While he was fastening the lock he heard a key click from the entrance and the sound of a door opening. Yanfei, he assumes. He finishes locking the window and goes out to greet her. His roommates are already out of the morning trance and Venti had assumed his typical sprawl on the couch. Xiao was already greeting Yanfei alongst Aether who he hasn’t seen much of recently. Out of all his roommates only he wasn’t in the band.
« Hi Yanfei! »
« Oh hello Heizou. Wassup? »
How Yanfei and Heizou ended up in the same courthouse and grew closer thanks to the experience was beyond his rommates’ comprehension. He didn’t blame them, after all they were on opposing sides, but they do say that opposites attract. How he managed to meet such a sweet legal advisor, willing to answer his queries on the legal loopholes and sentences was astounding especially from a new legal student.
« My job still can be a little rough but the cases are always wrapped up before anything ugly can happen. »
« Haha that’s not really the best part of being a part of the police! Hope you’re pumped up to meet that Kazuha boy. »
« Huh? »
« Oh Venti didn’t tell you? »
« No… he was at the bar last night, getting himself absolutely wasted with his famous drink buddies. »
« Hey! Rosaria and Kaeya are great drinking buddies! » the short man slurred, offended.
« Oh my archons! He’s absolutely wasted! »
« It appears so… »
Yanfei set down the plastic bag she was carrying and pulled out some honey.
« Heizou darling, can you fetch some boiling water. I’ll make some honey water. »
Heizou nodded and filled the kettle. His roommates on the other hand pulled out the rest of Yanfei’s purchases and Aether passed the takeaway almond tofu to Xiao who gladly wolfed it down. Aether preferred to cook so Yanfei brought him some fresh vegetables and meat which he gladly accepted and thanked her for. He pulled the kettle from the heat and lugged the pot on the table where Yanfei hurriedly poured into a cup and stirred some honey into it before giving it to Venti who, grudgingly, took it.
“So… how’s the group going?” Heizou asked sweetly.
“Oh it’s sweet! xinyan is joining, of course xiangling is joining, amber is coming too, and I got my girlfriend to join, she said she’d talk with her associates from the Liyue company if they can get in contact with the Inazuma company, she heard there’s a really sweet singer or dancer.”
“Oh? Does she have different associates than you in Liyue?”
“Ha… Liyue is a huge company who takes care of many things, essentially a part of the government if you will, it obviously shares its powers with Inazuma, Monstadt, Sumeru, Fontaine and the ever exclusive Schnezhaya but it retains the power of contracts, we take care of merchants and the booming business.
Sumeru is the one making sure that the commerce is being supplied with items, from day to day food to expensive and lavish jewelry.
Monstadt is the company of alchemy and wine, the new Khaenri’ah if you will in alchemy, lead by Albedo and his secretary Sucrose.
Inazuma is essentially plan dealers, they look into the future and make plans to deal with any eventual problems, trying to get our legacy going for eternity I suppose.
They also take care of the army albeit just the propaganda part, Schnezhaya is the company that deals with the matters of the army, lead by the Harbringers and at the head the ever elusive Tsarista.
And last but not least, Fontaine takes care of judicial affaires and the law, I have thought about working there along with Kuki but Liyue wished to hire me as their legal advisor and consultant.
The pay was undeniably higher than what Fontaine offered so I took up the job! So yes, Liyue is a huge company, I am already lucky enough to have met the great Ninguang on several occasions!”
“Quite the lengthy speech!”
“Ah? Was it? Oh was I talking too much? Oh dear, please tell me to stop if I ever do it again.”
“Haha don’t worry, it’s refreshing.”
“Ah, I’m glad.”
“So… about the Kazuha boy?”
“Oh my! I totally forgot about him!”
“Haha in all this confusion, it’s understandable.”
“Kazuha is one of my most recent clients, a very sweet boy. I wanted to introduce him to you guys because he is a killer guitarist and also because of this,” she pulled out her phone, her glittery nails flying across the screen as she pulled out last night’s conversation.
Heizou bent down to read the text and suppressed a laugh,
“What honesty indeed.”
“Haha I know right! You should probably call Aether and Xiao so that they know.”
“Yeah that sounds like a good idea.” he pulled the two boys on the couch and settled himself in between venti and aether. “Okay you can brief them now Yanfei.”
She quirked her eyebrow and laughed, “You all are meeting Kazuha, one of my recent clients and a fantastic guitarist.”
Aether’s head dropped a little at the mention of guitarist but brisked up and asked her
“What time?”
“4 pm.”
“Ah, I won’t be able to come, I promised to meet my sister at that time…”
“No problem! I’m sure no one minds.”
Xiao grumbled something under his breath, as the eldest of all of them (including Yanfei) he usually had the last say. Aether grabbed his hands and murmured something in his ear and he grudgingly muttered his agreement with the plan.
Many people tend to forget Xiao, Aether and Yanfei’s age, they were quite young but not young enough to enjoy the frivolous part of life but not old enough to be a “stick in the mud”. By their looks alone it was hard to discern that Yanfei was merely 23 and Xiao 25, even more shocking was the age of Aether, he was about the same age as Xiao though a few months shy. At that moment the door was flung open and a young girl stepped in, accompanied by two other girls.
