Mina was on her way to Chaeyoungs house when she spotted a beautiful flower shop. She decided to go and buy two bouquets of flowers.
One for Chaeyoung and the other for her mother.
She wanted to make a good impression as she was still planning on asking her if she could hit on her. She was nervous but she still wanted to do it. Despite not knowing what the answer would be she would go forward with it.
She walked into the store and was met with a nice lady who welcomed her warmly.
"Hello, May I buy some flowers? I want two bouquets."
"Sure! What kind of flowers would you like?"
"Umm, I'm not sure, what would you recommend?"
"Well it would depend who they are for."
"I- Uh- want to get some for a girl and her mother."
"Ah I see , may I suggest some lavender roses and yellow Tulips? Lavender roses symbolize love at first sight and yellow tulips are for happiness."
"Those seem perfect! I'll take them please."
The lady walked away to make the bouquets as Mina looked around at all the flowers spread around the place.
"Here you are. I wish you luck on your confession."
"Thank you! Ill try to come back soon!"
She walked away now on her way to Chaeyoungs house with the two sets of flowers in her hands.
She was starting to get a little nervous but continued on.
As she walked out onto the street people gave her stares, some of understanding, and others strange glares.
She really didn't mind as she knew this kind of thing happened.
She was aware that not everyone was accepting of the gay community. Either way she was glad to be herself and take a step forward in doing what she wished to do. It was her way of getting out of her comfort zone and accepting parts of herself she normally wouldn't think of accepting.
To her, learning more about herself was a good thing. She thought that maybe one day someone could come up to her and ask for advice and she would know what to say and tell them what she wished someone would have told her.
As she walked into Chaeyoungs neighborhood she saw how nice the day was.
It was just right for them to go out to the movies and maybe even spend some time at a park.
Finally she reached her house.
She knocked at the door and as she expected Chaeyoungs mother opened up.
"Hello? May I help you."
"Hello ma'am, i'm Mina, Chaeyoungs uh- friend. We are supposed to hang out today so i came to pick her up."
"Oh well isn't that sweet of you. Come in Ill let her know you're here."
Mina stopped her and gave her the bouquet of flowers.
"Wait before you call her… I would like to give these to you as a gift."
"Oh! You shouldn't have, thank you. Now come on in."
Utterly surprised she received the flowers. Chaeyoungs mother had never received flowers from any of her daughter's friends so this shocked her. Not in a bad way but in a curious way.
Why would she give her flowers on their first meeting?
Was she trying to gain her trust?
Whatever it was, it surely caught her attention.
As the two walked in Mina realized that the place was very well kept. It was very homey and comfortable. She felt welcomed there.
"Chaeyoung!!!! Your friend is here!!! Don't you keep this nice girl waiting and hurry it up!" She yelled
Surprised to hear her mother calling her she quickly ran down stairs almost tripping on her way down.
"Chaeyoung! What have I told you about running down the stairs! Your friend is here so you can go now. Have fun~." She said as she walked away.
"Hi. You're early. haha sorry you had to see me almost fall down the stairs." Sheepishly said Chaeyoung as she fixed her clothing.
"Yeah, I wanted to get a little heads start to get here on time."
"Well then, what are we going to do today?"
"First of all." She said as she pulled the flowers from behind, "I got you these. I hope you like them."
"Wow, Thank you. But what's the occasion for flowers? No offense but we literally met yesterday."
"Oh- Uh- That's- Ill tell you later, we should get going first before we get there late."
"Late? Where?"
"You'll see once we get there."
"Okay then miss lady."
Mina grabbed Chaeyoungs hand and walked out the door.
Chaeyoung, was once again, shocked, that she received flowers, just like her mother was.
She questioned what she had done to receive them and what the meaning for them was.
Similar to Mina earlier, Chaeyoung was aware of all the stares they received as they were holding hands walking through the town.
She really didn't mind it though, she was happy and comfortable hanging out with Mina so she could care less about what random strangers say about her.
Her mother was accepting of her and so were her friends so she really had no reason to care about what others thought of her.
It is true that at some point she did care, but that was when she was figuring herself out, she was scared of what people would think and say about her. It made her very insecure to the point her mother had to intervene and have a talk with her.
That was when she told her mother about how she was exploring her sexuality and how she presented herself, (her aesthetic so to speak.)
After that she had nothing to be scared of and that was when she embraced herself and gained confidence.
Both Mina and Chaeyoung having similar but different backgrounds have their own stories that make them come together and get along together.
They have a connection that if they wanted could be deepened making them have a solid friendship or even more if they wished to.
