Kitten Company
It was completely by accident Tony made his most recent discovery. He was working with the tower security system when he saw Bucky on the screen in the back alley, bent over and messing with something. Curious he zoomed in a saw the old soldier petting a stray grey cat, scratching it under its chin probably earning content purrs from the creature. Tony thought about using this as a way to poke fun at the man but seeing the smile on Bucky's face while loving on that cat had him reevaluating that plan. While him and Bucky were on better terms now they still tended to avoid each other if at all possible.
Getting a idea Tony left the tower not giving anyone any notice of where he was going or what he was doing, not that that was any different from any other day. Heading to a local humane shelter he walked in asking the very confused and flustered woman to show him where their cats were. Luck, it seemed, was on his side as a no kill shelter it had several cats that had been there so long and needed a good home quickly to free up space. Tony then signed the papers for two older bonded tabbies, a black cat missing a eye, a little grey kitten with a missing back leg, and a sweet white cat who was deaf.
Once the cats were loaded safely in a big box into the car he headed back to the tower parking his car before walking in with the box and getting in the elevator. Curious the cats peaked their little heads out of the box mewing and looking around in the small space with the black cat giving Tony a light bat on the nose with its paw. As the elevator stopped on the main living level of the tower he was glad to see Bucky sitting on the couch.
"Hey Barney Boy! I need some help here!" He called causing the assassin to roll his eyes before looking over to him. Tony saw the confused look on is face before he slowly got off the couch and walked over to him.
"What's going on Stark? Why do you have these cats?" He asked once he got closer. As he looked into the box the cats now seeing a new person all turned their attention to him the little grey on catching his eye and he picked him up gently a small smile on his face.
"I was following a lead on some stolen weapons and caused some damage to a shelter by accident. Messed up the cages these guys were in and so to help the shelter I adopted them as well as paid for damages...problem is while I am a genius I don't know a thing about cats, do you?" If Bucky didn't believe Tony's lie he didn't show it instead putting the kitten back in the box and taking it from Tony.
"I know a little bit...I'll need a few things...you're buying."
"Of course."
Steve would return to the tower several hours later finding several cats toys strewn about the living area and the empty bedroom being turned into a cats paradise with Bucky sitting on the floor surrounded by his fuzzy friends with a content smile on his face as he stroked their fur.
