The Visions
Chapter 11: Blair’s POV~Four months later~
Blair stood in the kitchen next to Wanda chopping vegetables for the pasta they were making. She looked around the kitchen at her teammates, contemplating her current circumstances. As she surveyed the room she caught Natasha’s eye who smiled at her encouragingly. Natasha knew that Blair was still not convinced that she was safe and welcome in the Avengers compound but Blair appreciated that she did her best to remind her. Agreeing to come with her and Clint four months ago had been one of the most reckless decisions Blair had ever made, one that she blamed partly on her headache at the time.
As she stirred the pot Wanda glanced at her curiously, sensing that her mind was working. “Taste?” she asked Blair who delicately brought the spoon to her mouth.
“It's good” she replied looking at her friend, “Maybe a little more rosemary?”
“Yes, that’s just what I was thinking.” she smiled.
Blair turned back to the cutting board right as a splitting pain started in her head. Damnit, she gripped the counter trying to stand upright but her efforts were useless. Blair dropped the knife she had been holding and fell to her knees. In an instant, Steve was at her side and she could hear him speaking indistinctly...probably to me, she thought groggily... Her vision narrowed and she felt like gravity increased tenfold driving her farther into the ground as an image started to fill her brain. She could feel herself being lifted off the kitchen floor right as the vision consumed her…
Blair watched another version of herself, she was upstairs in Tony’s lab sitting in a chair across from another empty seat. Suddenly the door to the room opened and Natasha walked in, taking a seat in the empty chair that was across from Blair.
“Are you sure you’re ready for this?” she asked Natasha
Natasha simply smiled before replying “As ready as I’ll ever be.”
“You don’t have to do this you know.” other Blair said frowning at her friend
“I know, but Tony thinks it will help.” Natasha reassured her.
Tony appeared, waltzing into the lab a holographic tablet and other equipment in hand. “Okay I think we are almost set up.” he said looking quite pleased with himself.
“Steve and I will be right next door in the observation room, there can’t be more people in here or we won’t get an accurate energy reading. You can hit this button,” he said handing Blair a tiny remote, “when you move through different phases of the mind scan or whatever it is called and we will see if it causes any differential energy spikes.”
“Remember this is the first test we are running so we might not get anything groundbreaking but it is a good start” he said looking between Blair and Natasha, “So we’re good to go.”
He gave them a thumbs up and walked out the door shutting it behind him. Right as other Blair started to turn to Natasha the vision began to fade, disappearing in a swirl of colors...
“Hey kid, how are you feeling?” Blair awoke with a start, Clint was kneeling next to the couch she laid on speaking to her.
She stared through him, struggling to form a coherent sentence. She looked around noticing that almost everything had come to a halt as a result of her collapsing in the kitchen. Next to the kitchen island Tony, Steve, and Natasha conversed in hushed tones. Steve kept glancing at her.
“Hey Sam,” Clint said turning toward the kitchen “can you get Bruce to come check her out?”
Sam nodded, turning towards the stairs that led to Bruce and Tony’s lab.
Wanda crossed the kitchen and took a seat next to her on the couch.
“May I see?” she asked holding out her hand to Blair.
Blair nodded reaching her hand out to gently touch fingertips with Wanda. She focused on channeling her the vision from her memories. Regardless of being mentally exhausted it was much easier to transmit with physical contact. Since her visions had started a couple months ago Blair had agreed to share them with Wanda. She had absolutely no desire to be some type of all-seeing oracle and showing Wanda the visions took the pressure of describing them to the others off of her shoulders if it took her a long time to recover.
“Hmmm…” Wanda mused looking at her “I think that’s the near future, in fact I’m pretty sure it’s what the three of them are discussing right now.” she said nodding towards Tony, Steve, and Natasha.
She stood crossing the kitchen to converse with Steve and confirm her theory.
