A Gift for You

Enid Sinclair

I cannot fathom the reality I've witnessed. My heart seriously can no longer take in all the love that I have been feeling. It's all thanks to my wonderful future wife. She is the reason why I am following her like a lost dog. I'm already aware that I'm very faithful to her. Wednesday has given me attention as well as affection sometimes.

An example would be her and I cuddling every night. The raven would always command me to hug her while sleeping which I find extremely adorable. Holding her in my arms is way preferable than embracing a plushie. Another illustration is when we went shopping at a mall. As we walked side by side, Wednesday hooked her pinky with my own.

When I tell you I wanted to howl out of joy, I really wanted to. It did not matter to me if the psychic would rather hold onto my pinky. I'm happy with any form of physical contact as long as she is comfortable and not feeling forced to do anything she doesn't want to do. What sucks about all of this is that none of us have admitted we like each other more than friends.

I haven't said anything because I'm afraid that this would all be a dream or a mistake in the end. I'm wondering if Wednesday is doing all of this just for show for her parents. I remember those lingering words when she would divorce me right after we married. That is one of my fears. Another fear of mine would be losing her. I can't imagine myself in a situation like that.

Wednesday means the whole infinite universe to me. I've learned so much and grew way closer than expected to the woman. There's no way I would want to let her go anytime soon. If anything, she has to be the one to let me go if I'm not the one she wants. It's a miserable reality to be in, but I must accept it.

So what you're telling me is that you want a customized dagger for the love of your life? Thing tapped on my shoulder.

"Yup! Do you think that's a terrible idea?" I nervously asked the hand.

Right now, Thing and I are inside of a weapon store to shop for a blade I want to give to Wednesday. I left super early in the morning so I have enough time to find what I am looking for. Thing tagged along to help pick out a dagger that Addams would love.

Not at all. I think it's very thoughtful to go extra for Wednesday. She will appreciate it.

"I hope you're right," I had a little faith.

I am. By the way, I recommend getting a dagger with a case, you know, to make it look like a present, Thing advised.

"Smart thinking Thing. Let's get to it," I grinned as we marched to the glass display filled with knives.

On the other side of the counter is a dark skin toned woman with blue-green eyes. She was chewing gum while smiling down at her phone until she saw me approaching her. She put her device into her pocket and continued beaming.

"Hi there! What can I do for you today?" The friendly woman was ready to help me.

"Hey. I was wondering if you had any daggers that comes with a casing?" I politely inquire.

"We actually do. If you don't mind me asking, are you collecting them for fun?"

"No, I'm not. I'm looking to buy one as a gift for a girl I like," I felt a blush rising to my face.

"That's sweet of you. Usually people come by just to collect knives for show, but you're the first I ever heard of buying one for their crush. Let me guess, is it Wednesday Addams you fell in love with?" The worker smirked at me.

My jaw dropped when she guessed who I was purchasing the dagger for.

"Before you assume anything, I see a familiar hand relaxing on your shoulder. Hey Thing," the woman waved at the limb as he did the same.

"How come you didn't tell me you knew her?" I furrowed my brows at Thing.

I forgot, Thing signed innocently.

"How dare you forget, Thing. Anywho, my name is Bianca Barclay. I used to be Wednesday's archnemesis in an academy school where we both attended," Bianca introduced herself.

"I'm Enid Sinclair. Now that you mentioned your name, I heard about you before," I brought up.

"You have?" Bianca leaned into the counter.

"Yeah, from Xavier. He needed help getting you back with him so I gave him some tips. That man would literally die for you," I claimed.

"No wonder he's been very considerate. Whatever advice you gave him, it's working," Barclay smiled proudly.

"I'm glad," I felt relieved knowing her relationship with Xavier is going smoothly.

"So... about Wednesday. How did you guys even meet? I have never seen you before."

"It's a long story. Let's just say our parents wanted us to be married so we can take over their companies early and combine them together," I got to the point.

"Holy shit! That was not what I expected to hear," Bianca's eyes went wide.

"Right? Wednesday hated my guts when we met. My parents had me living with her and her family. At first, I felt anxious. However, the longer I stayed, the more I warmed up to the family. Wednesday doesn't hate me like she used to. Instead, she's been comfortable around me. She even apologized for the way she reacted when we first saw each other."

"That is so not Wednesday. I'm beginning to think she has a soft spot for you Sinclair because in the academy, she hardly chatted with anybody. No one wanted to be friends with her because of the way she is. I mean, it's not like Wednesday wanted friends in the first place," the short haired woman shrugged her shoulders.

"Wow. Maybe she does have a soft spot for me," I began thinking about the raven.

Of course she does. Wednesday is obsessed with your cuddles and claws. That means something right? Thing questioned me.

"To me, yeah. For Wednesday, I'm not one-hundred percent sure," I simply replied.

"Trust the instinct of your own heart. If you sense that Wednesday deeply cares about you, let it happen. She's never vulnerable to anybody unless it is someone she truly trusts, and that person is you. Don't be afraid or in denial that she won't feel anything for you. I've been in your shoes before so I know what that feels like," Bianca gave me a reassuring smile.

"That makes a lot of sense. I guess I'm just scared of being alone," I disclosed my fear.

"Don't we all? But you have nothing to worry about honestly. You seem like a great person. Therefore, you'll be okay. And the fact that Wednesday likes to cuddle you blows my mind," the flabbergasted worker discovered.

"I know right! It's the best feeling in the world! She feels so small compared to me when we hold each other in bed," I squealed out of gaiety.

"Ugh! You're making me want to leave my job and be with Xavier instead," Barclay felt a twinge of jealousy.

"Haha, sorry! I should quit talking about my relationship. I still have to pick out a dagger for Wednesday," I made known.

"Oh, that's right. Let me grab a few cases from the back and show you what I have left," Bianca said before heading out to the back of the shop.

What else are you planning to do after we get her gift? Thing wondered.

"I'm going to make her breakfast in bed. Same goes for the rest of the Addams family. I don't want them to feel left out. After Wednesday finishes her food, I'm going to hand her my gift. Doesn't that sound like an amazing idea?" I presented my scheme.

It does. I'm really excited for Wenclair to sail! The limb signed excitedly.

"Wenclair? Is that mine and Wednesday's ship name?" I tilted my head to the side in an intrigued way.

Yes. Pugsley and I made it up together. We are the captains of the ship.

"You guys are something else," I shook my head playfully.

"Okay! I'm back," Bianca came out with a stack of boxes in hand.

She plopped them on the counter and began unlocking each of them one by one. She allowed me to open whichever and take a look at multiple of the weapons. After glancing carefully at every dagger exhibited, one stood out from the rest.

"What's this one made out of?" I pointed out a black dagger with a skull shaped handle that had red eyes.

"The blade is made out of tungsten. It's a very durable and strong metal. As for the handle, it's titanium. The dangers of this specific knife is that it can cut through bones. It's actually the deadliest dagger we have in here," Bianca described the weapon.

"I'll take it," I decided immediately.

"Sure thing. The price is two-hundred and sixty dollars. I just need to check your ID, and are you paying with card or cash?" The woman went to her cashier and began tapping on the system.

I dug into my pocket to pull out my wallet as I responded, "I'm paying with my card, and here is my ID."

"Thank you. Now that your age is verified, you can go ahead and swipe your card while I prepare Wednesday's present," Barclay handed my ID back as she went to close the dark case with white edges together.

I put my ID back before swiping my card and inputting my pin number. The machine then approved my purchase, and I placed my card into my wallet.

Bianca leaned back to view the register and stated, "Looks like you're good to go. Is there anything else you need?"

"Nope! That is all. Thanks for the help Bianca," I thanked her.

She slid the case to me and told me, "No problem. Go get her tiger. Oh, and ask Xavier to give you my number. You and Wednesday should hang out with us sometime."

"Sounds like a plan," I gave a thumbs up to Bianca before carrying the case out with Thing now on top of my head.

We left the building to find Lurch parked and sitting in the driver's side. Without him noticing us, I opened the back door and went inside. Lurch turned around to find me seated and staring at him.

"Hi Lurch! We are back from the shop. It's time to go home," I uttered as I closed the door and settled the casing onto my lap.

Lurch grunted in response before turning the engine on. Thing jumped out of my head and landed right next to me.

He signed, What happened to finding a customized dagger?

"I'm getting to that part actually," I drawled while opening the dagger case.

What do you mean? Thing questioned.

"You're about to find out," I slipped out right as I lengthened my rainbow claws.

——————————

"Is she awake? I'll have to try it again tomorrow if Wednesday is awake," I slowly grew nervous in front of Thing.

For the millionthtime, she's still asleep. I checked ten seconds ago, Thing notified.

"I need to make sure everything is perfect. I should bring up Wednesday's tray before I bring everyone else's food. I will be back in a jiffy," I vocalized to the hand before I transferred the tray out of the kitchen and walked to the stairs.

I cautiously took the food upstairs and stepped towards Wednesday's room. Right by her door is the dagger case which I had quietly placed there. On the bed was Wednesday lying sleepily and curled up under the blanket. I quickly quirked my lips upward from the endearing outlook of the girl I wished would be mine.

I tiptoed my way to the side edge of the bed where Wednesday mostly laid by. I set the tray on the nightstand next to a lamp. From there, I sat on the edge of the mattress and placed a hand over Wednesday's upper arm. I shouldn't have because straight away, the psychic sat up and gripped my wrist tightly, using her other hand to push me flat down on my stomach to the bed.

"Ow! G-good morning Wens," I tried to smile, but I ended up wincing slightly in pain.

Wednesday instantly let go when she recognized it was just me and said, "Enid? I apologize for my actions. I thought you were Pugsley."

I pushed myself back to my seating position and answered, "No worries. That's understandable what you did."

"Where were you? I opened my eyes just to find you not here in the bed," the goth girl folded her arms and gave me a chilling stare.

"I snuck out of the house to do some errands," I half lied.

"It's suspicious of you to do errands very early in the morning. You're up to something, aren't you?" Addams read through me.

I sighed in defeat and confessed, "Okay. Maybe I am up to something, although it's for a good cause. I will tell you when the time is right, I promise."

"I suppose I shall take your word. Also, what's with the tray of food?"

"This is what we call breakfast in bed. I made you some crepes drizzled with chocolate and topped with strawberries. On the side are some hash browns and scrambled eggs. If you don't want to eat what I made, let me know. My feelings won't get hurt," I reckoned.

"Do not fret as I'm not a picky eater. You make your meals look consumable to me. I am thankful for you doing such a considerate act. I feel as if there is a purpose for this occasion," Wednesday gazed up at me.

"Sort of. I will explain everything later, but I should bring your parents and brother's breakfast up. I will come back when I have finished. Just give me a couple of minutes," I evoked to the woman before leaving the room.

I retreated to the kitchen to gather a tray belonging to Pugsley. I knocked on his bedroom door and heard him invite me in. It was my cue to come in and drop off his breakfast. He went from feeling groggy to being enthusiastic over my creation. I giggled at the boy and moved on to take the third and fourth tray to the eldest Addams.

Thanks to Pugsley giving me a tour around the mansion a while back, I knew which room belonged to Morticia and Gomez. Balancing the trays with one arm and hand, I knocked on the door with the other hand. I got an answer from Gomez to enter in which I did. I greeted the awakened couple wearing matching pajamas and handed them their breakfast.

They were grateful for the kind gesture and would hope to return the favor. I told them I was looking forward to it and departed their room for them to eat privately. Since I had completed my task of serving my family in laws, I fled from the hallway and went straight to Wednesday's bedroom.

As I set foot in her room, I didn't find the raven sitting on the bed. However, I noticed the light to the bathroom was on. I assumed she was in there getting ready for the day. Therefore, I decided to grab the case from outside of the door and brought it in to hide underneath Wednesday's desk. In the nick of time, the psychic left the restroom to find me beaming at her.

"Hi Willa!" I waved innocently, saying a new nickname I made up on the top of my head.

"Hello, Enid. I see you are done feeding my family, is that correct?" Wednesday interrogated as she sat down on the mattress and began eating her meal.

"That is correct," I smiled bigger.

"And you? Where's your breakfast?" The gothic girl questioned.

I dropped my grin and face palmed myself mentally and physically.

"I totally forgot about myself. I guess I was too focused on feeding you guys that I didn't think to make a plate for myself. Silly me," I rubbed the back of my neck, feeling embarrassed as I sat next to her.

"Here. You and I can share my plate," Wednesday took the tray and placed it on top of our legs.

"But it's yours. I can make myself more. Don't worry about me," I tried to decline her offer, but she wouldn't give up.

"I insist. You better eat my plate or else I am having you sleep on the floor," the Addams sternly warned.

I whined, "Isn't that too harsh?"

"No."

I exhaled deeply and replied, "Fine. I'll eat yours."

"Good," Wednesday stabbed some scrambled eggs and hash browns mixed together with her fork.

She brought the fork up near my face with a hand under the silverware in case the food would fall off.

"Open wide," she instructed casually, gazing into my eyes.

I froze for a quick second before becoming aware that my cheeks are flaming red. It wasn't because she was feeding me. It's because she ate out of that fork, and it would be considered an indirect kiss if I took a bite using her silverware. I doubt Wednesday knows about indirected kisses, yet I do. At least it's closer to a real kiss. That is something I would love to receive from Wens.

I did what I was told and parted my lips to partially reveal my pearly white teeth. My mouth was wide enough for Wednesday to take the fork and carefully move it closer to my mouth. I went ahead and took a bite of the tasty food. I chewed while glancing away nervously from the woman's eyes.

"I will always worry about you and your wellbeing, Enid. You've done a great deal of trying to fit in the family which is not necessary. Pugsley, Thing, my parents, even Lurch bonded with you easily. You trust and care about us abundantly. I believe it's your turn to care and concentrate on yourself. If not, I'll force you to," Wednesday openly professed what she felt.

I swallowed the eggs and hash browns just to courageously gape at the raven I fell deeply for. Her softened gaze overwhelmed me comfortingly. Hearing such pensive words from Wednesday caused butterflies to flutter in my stomach. It proved to me that she is worrisome. I can't help myself from my lips curling up.

"I want to be in your life as well as your family's. That's why I used to try so hard to be like you guys. Though, I stopped after everyone accepted who I am. I got comfortable enough to try your usual traditions, and learn what makes you guys so unique. All of you are special to me and are tucked into my heart forever. I couldn't have wished for a better family to be a part of."

"If my family were in our room, they would be sobbing their eyes out. Considering they are not here, I will admit you captured their hearts. Including mine as much as I didn't want to acknowledge it," Wednesday divulged smoothly.

I flashed a gentle smile and stated, "And you captured mine. Which is why I have a surprise for you."

I took the tray of food to put on the nightstand and walked to Wednesday's desk. I felt her eyes on me the entire time while I repossessed the case in my hand. I carried it over to the psychic and laid it down on her lap horizontally.

"This was the reason why I left the house early. To buy you a gift," I sat back down on the bed next to Wednesday.

"You shouldn't have," Wednesday voiced before unlatching the locks to the case.

"But I wanted to. Thanks to an old rival of yours, she helped me pick it out."

"Was it Bianca Barclay?" She lifted a brow up.

"Yup!" I responded swiftly.

"I shall give her my regards after helping you."

"That will be arranged soon. Now, be ready to get your mind blown to smithereens!" I excitedly announced.

Wednesday didn't comment and unfolded the case. Her eyes slightly widened at the sight of the dagger. Discreetly, the goth used both hands to lift the shiny weapon off of the foam padding in the case. Taking her index finger to drag it along the knife, she halted by the beginning of the blade. There, it had two engraved letters.

"The letters... it's our first initials, is it?" Wednesday glanced intensely at the two initials with a plus sign in between.

"It is. Thanks to my razor-sharp nails, I was able to carve our initials. I thought it would be a nice touch," I added.

"The design is impressive. The blade is not too dull, and appending our first initials is highly thoughtful of you. Thank you, Enid. I will cherish the dagger for as long as I live," Wednesday spoke delicately as she put the dagger back in the box and closed it.

"Anytime Wens. So, can it be my turn to feed you!?" I grinned like a maniac.

Wednesday swayed her head side to side and said, "Absolutely not. I'm not a child."

"I'm not either but you still fed me," I pointed out.

"This will be a one time thing," the woman murmured.

"I'm okay with that!" I joyfully responded, grabbing the tray and fork to scoop some crepe for my lovely future wife.

"You're fortunate I'm civil, pup," Wednesday mustered before taking the crepe off from the fork with her mouth.

"I know," I affectionately gazed at Wednesday.

Thing and Bianca are right. There's nothing I need to be anxious about. Wednesday did open up to me which is past the starting point of our relationship. Her expressions when we are together shows she's secure and at ease. If anything, I have high prospects that Wednesday and I will have a fantastic future together. I think it's time to move further down with our current relationship.
