Kanade finally managed to arrive home from work,after a very long day at the office.It took her long enough to realize it was already 12 pm.She unlocked the door to the apartment where she lived with her soon-to-be wife,Mafuyu.It was dark and she couldn't hear anything.
"She's probably asleep already.I should have let her know I'd come home late."
However coming home late was never unexpected on Kanade,so she asumed that's why Mafuyu didn't try to contact her too much.
"Maybe I'll wake up earlier and cook breakfast to make up for it?She always has to do that cause I wake up late.."
She entered the kitchen and opened the cupboard where she kept most of her instant ramen.She didn't have time to eat at work,so she thought she'd make something quickly before going to bed.
"You know,eating only instant ramen won't do you good,don't you?"
Kanade was startled by the voice and turned around to see Mafuyu,leaning on the doorframe, with crossed arms and a smile on her face.
"Oh,sorry.Did I wake you up?"
"No,I wasn't sleeping.I can't really sleep when you're not home."
The purple haired girl hugged Kanade.It was pretty obvious she was tired from her movements."I should try getting home earlier.It wouldn't do Mafuyu good to not get enough sleep.",was the first thought that went through Kanade's mind.
"I'll try to eat more consistent foods in the future,but right now I don't really have a choice."
"Yes, you do I cooked dinner some time ago.I think it's gotten cold however" said Mafuyu with a lightly ironic voice.
"Oh,you didn't have to bother-"
"No,Kanade,I did." Mafuyu cut her off "You should try taking more care of yourself.Nowdays you stopped sleeping,stopped eating and almost stopped everything.All you do is go to work back and forth.I know you just want me and you to have a decent living,but you know that I work too and we could both handle ourselves well enough that you don't go to work 24/7."
Kanade couldn't help but perfectly understand what Mafuyu was telling her.She did work too much.She did stop taking care of herself.She hasn't talked to any of her friends for way too long now.
"*Sigh* You're right.I need to put my life back togheter.I'm not doing anything healthy anymore and I haven't been paying as much attention as I should.If I want to make a change,I'll have to make it as soon as possible."
Mafuyu showed a comforted smile and kissed her lover on the cheek.
"That's the Kanade I got engaged to.Now,how about we sit down and enjoy dinner togheter?Well,it will be more like a midnight snack now,but who cares,really?I'll reheat it,and we could talk about eachother's day?"
"That sounds lovely,darling.I'll go take a shower ,then come back,ok?"
Kanade came back in pyjamas,exactlly when Mafuyu finished setting the table.They both sat down and ate their food while talking about eachother's experience's at work today.When they run out of things to talk about and the food is finished,Mafuyu says,
"It's getting really late,we should really go to sleep."
"As you wish."
As they we're getting ready to sleep,Kanade thought of something,
"Hey,Mafu?
"Hm?"
"How about I take the day off tomorrow and we go out a bit?Maybe we could ask Ena and Mizuki to come too,we haven't seen them in awhile."
"That would be just wonderful!I really miss them,and I'm sure they do aswell."
"I'll send them a message tomorrow morning.Goodnight,love!
"Goodnight,dear."
In the end Mafuyu still made breakfast,but atleast Kanade kept her word,took the day off and called their friends to go out.Ena and Mizuki were also exitet to finally go out again.It's been atleast 8 months since they have seen eachother, except a few times at the convinience store.
"Ahhhh it's so nice to finally be able to go on walks again,isn't it girls?"
"Indeed it is Ena.How have you and Mizuki been getting along?"
"Everything is just fine.Our lives have been going great!How about you?"
"Well,Kanade is rarely at home most of the time.But I really enjoy having her around when she's here."
Kanade couldn't help but blush at her partner's words.It made her remeber of their first date,back in highschool.She always loved Mafuyu,but never expected their relationship would come this far.
"Hey,Mizuki!You haven't been talking alot.Is everything alright?"
"Oh?Yes I'm fine.Don't worry about it.I was thinking somewhere else."
"Is that so?What were you thinking about?"
"It's a secret."
Kanade knew exactly what the secret was.But she was not going to tell anybody until Mizuki would do what she told her on the call she'd do.
The day went very well.They walked around the town,visited a lot of shops and other things everyone wanted to do.As it started to get darker and colder and they decided to go home,Mizuki looked Kanade in the eyes with a face that almost spoke the words "It's time."
While going on the path back home,Mizuki stopped and took Ena's hand."
"Uhm,Enan?I have to ask you something."
"Oh,sure, Mizuki,what is it?"
Kanade secretly took her phone out and started filming, while Mafuyu had absolutely no idea what was going on.Mizuki went right infront of Ena and got down on one knee and pulled out a ring.
"Ena,would you make me the happiest woman alive,and be my wife?"
The silence was extremly loud.After that,Ena,with tears in her eyes,said calmly,
"Yes,yes of course I'll be your wife.I was starting to think you'd never ask.I love you!"
"I love you too,Ena!"
They both shared a tender kiss in the moonlight while Kanade was quietly cheering for them, and Mafuyu was just happy to be there.She realized in the meantime that Kanade knew about all that.
Both happy couples returned home after the long and happy day.
As Mafuyu was warming something up in the microwave,she said,
"What a beautiful moment we saw,didn't we?"
"Indeed we did.It reminded me of when you proposed to me.That was the happiest day of my life."
"It was mine two,my love.I'm so happy to have you in my life.I love you,K."
"I love you too,Yuki."
