Rest
Leighton has discovered that there are two types of sick people in the world: the first is the people who take their time to get better, who relax without letting the illness fully consume them. The other is Alicia. Alicia, who would beat the shit out of her cold if it was a physical being. Who rather than resting her body is constantly trying to get out of the apartment but keeps being stopped by her worried girlfriend.
“Leighton I promise, I’m fine!” Alicia says through an extremely stuffed up nose and sore throat as she tries to walk past her girlfriend through the door to go to class.
“No, baby, you’re not! You need to stay home and rest.” Leighton replies. Alicia puts her hands on Leighton’s hips and pulls her closer to her.
“Babe… come on.” Alicia purrs and Leighton’s face relaxes a bit, Alicia’s sure she’s about to get her way but realizes otherwise when Leighton drags her to their bedroom.
“You are NOT sweet talking yourself out of this one, Alicia Ren Takahashi!” Leighton says sternly and Alicia knows better than to keep pushing when her full name gets brought into things.
“Ughhhhh!” Alicia groans as she lays in bed a few hours later. Leighton enters the bedroom holding a sleeve of saltines in one hand and a steaming mug in the other.
“Now aren’t you glad I made you stay home?” Leighton asks with a chuckle, sitting next to her girlfriend on their bed.
“Yes,” Alicia lets out a violent cough, “Yes I am. Can you give me some cold medicine please?” she whines.
“Of course, baby. Drink your tea, mkay?”Leighton plants a kiss on Alicia’s forehead, who nods with a small groan. When Leighton comes back with the cold medicine from their attached bathroom, Alicia is sitting up in their bed nibbling on a saltine and while this should be an adorable sight, it’s actually upsetting. Alicia looks thin and her eyes are sunken. It’s heartbreaking for Leighton to see her girlfriend like this.
“Oh no, what’s wrong?” Alicia asks worriedly, snapping Leighton out of her daze. Leighton quickly hurried over to the bed and handed Alicia the cold medicine.
“No, nothings wrong! I just… hate seeing you feel so awful, sweetie.” Leighton explains. Alicia nods and downs the cold medicine, taking another sip of tea to wash it down.
“I know. But thank you for stopping me from carrying on like I’m not sick, Leight.”
“Oh course. I just want you to be okay.” Leighton says, kissing Alicia’s cheek. “How bout I draw you a bath?” she adds. A small smile comes to Alicia’s lips and she nods slowly.
Later, after her bath, Alicia feels 10 times better. Her throat is still a little sore, but her congestion and headache are gone!
“I feel so much better.” Alicia says as she wraps her arms around Leighton from behind and kissing the back of her neck. Leighton giggles and turns around in her girlfriend’s arms, kissing her forehead.
“I’m so glad, baby!”
“Thank you for taking care of me today!” Alicia says with a smile.
“Of course. Come on, let’s get you into bed for some well-deserved sleep.” Leighton says, pulling Alicia to their bedroom.
