A Shocking Recovery
Anne woke up and looked around.
"W-w-what happened?" She asked.
Anne got up and stretched.
"Man, did I go through a growth spurt or something? My clothes feel tighter." Anne said, getting out of bed.
She came out of the basement (but not the closet) and looked around.
"Huh, where is everyone?" Anne asked.
Just as she said that, the door opened.
"Now kids, remember to be quiet, we don't want Anne to-"
"Anne!?" Sprig said.
He rushed passed Hop Pop and Polly before he hugged Anne.
"You're awake!" He said, "Good thing too, the last three days were really boring without you."
"Awww, thanks buddy. Glad to know- I'VE BEEN ASLEEP FOR THREE DAYS?!" Anne screamed in shock. "THREE FREAKING DAYS?!"
"Duh! And with how much blood you puked up, we almost thought you were dead." Polly comments.
"It's true." Hop Pop said, "But that's besides the point, you're up and looking healthy. Are you feeling healthy?"
"W-Well, aside from my clothes feeling tighter, yeah. I feel a lot better." Anne said, rubbing her neck.
Right where the spider had bite her half a week ago.
"Hey, Anne, now that you feel better, why don't we go out and enjoy the day?" Sprig suggested.
"Boy, don't be stupid! Anne hasn't had a good meal in almost four days, she must be starving!" Hop Pop said to Sprig.
"H.P. It's fi-" Anne was cut off by a loud growl coming from her stomach, making her blush. "Okay, yeah. I could use something to eat."
Hop Pop pulled her towards the kitchen.
"No grandkid of mine is going anywhere on an empty stomach!" He said, putting Anne on a chair, "Now sit there and give me a minute."
"Hehehehe. Okay, sure." Anne said as she watched Hop Pop cook.
'Normally, I'd be dreading what he makes but with how hungry I am, I don't care.' Anne thought.
It seemed like Hop Pop somehow managed to get better at cooking in the last couple days, because... whatever he put down... looked good. Anne still couldn't tell what was it was, but she didn't care.
She licked her lips in anticipation as the smell wafted up to her nose.
"There we go! Caterpillar Alfredo in a mushroom sauce!" Hop Pop said with pride.
Anne began eating it instantly.
"Whoa nelly!" Polly shouted as she, Sprig, and Hop Pop watched Anne scarf the food down like a beast.
"WOW! She really WAS hungry!" Sprig said with wide eyes.
Soon the bowl was empty and Anne was looking ready for anything.
"Alright, time to go!" Anne said.
"Um….do you want seconds first?" Hop Pop asked, slightly confused yet grateful at Anne cleaning her entire plate for once.
"Naw, I'm good! Later, HP!" Anne said, rushing out the door with Sprig.
"WHOOA!" Sprig let out as he was dragged away.
"… … …Got any more Caterpillar Alfredo?" Polly asked her grandpa.
(Line break)
Anne was running towards town, with sprig struggling to keep up.
"Man, I am feeling great!" Anne said.
"I'll say, I think you have more energy than me!" Sprig said, jumping onto Anne's shoulder, "I can barely keep up!"
"Makes sense! I was asleep for half a week, so I've got a lot of energy to burn!" Anne said with a grin.
She never had this level of energy before, not even back on Earth when she had a crazy sugar rush at a sleep over!
She jumped over a fallen log, doing a flip in the process.
"Dang, maybe Maddie put something else in that potion!" Anne said, "So good buddy of mine, what should we do?"
"I just so happen to have a list made." Sprig said as he pulled out a somewhat long list from his pocket. "Again, I was very lonely without my best friend."
"Sounds good to me, dude. So, what's on it?" Anne asked.
"Well, first is-"
A strange ringing noise suddenly came from Anne's head and drown out Sprig, making her slightly groan a bit as she moved to rub her temple.
"Whoa, you okay, Anne?" Sprig asked.
"Yeah, just a headache, guess I moved too fast." Anne said.
"Well, okay. How about we start with something small? Like skipping rocks across the lake and hitting lily pads?" Sprig said as he pointed to something on his list.
"Y-y-yeah, sure." Anne said, rubbing her head, "Man, that was strange."
Jumping off her shoulder, Sprig leads Anne to the lake as the strange ringing in her head calmed down.
Hopefully it won't become a recurring problem, whatever it is.
(Line Break)
Anne tossed a rock and it skipped across the water.
"9 skips! I am in the lead!" Anne said.
"I'm sure I can beat it." Sprig said, picking up a rock, "Watch and learn."
Sprig lined up his shot, but time seemed to slow for Anne as she slowly became more aware of her surroundings. The tingle in her head came back and she, for some reason, jumped into the air... high into the air. She even back flipped, completely avoiding Ivy's ambush attempt. She landed on the ground and looked shocked by what she just did. Ivy stood up and looked at Anne, equal parts shocked and impressed, just like Sprig.
"Holy moly! When could Anne jump like a frog?!" Ivy said in shock and awe.
"Anne, how did you do that?" Sprig asked.
Anne looked at her hand, seeing small... things growing out of her fingers.
"I... I got to go!" Anne said, running towards the woods.
"Anne, wait!" Sprig said, but it was too late, Anne was in the woods.
"... ... ...Okay, so something happened to her?" Ivy said Sprig randomly.
"Yep." Sprig said with a pop at the end.
