Everyone deserves a second(first) chance
Summary
In June of 2000 Poppy Pomfrey finds a newborn version of ex-professor Severus Snape lying in his rooms. After determining identity, health, and means of the de-aging, Poppy concludes that Severus will have to re-start his life over. He needs a guardian, and Harry Potter is elected, which he eventually agrees to. But, Harry doesn't take the expected route in raising his child. One thing is sure though: this new baby will have a life a thousand times better than Harry or Severus's.“This” means talking(including AAC devices)“Italics” means talking in the past(like flashbacks)'Italics' means thinkingThis is anything nonverbal(like scenery, descriptions, body language, etc)Italics, bold, and underlined(and occasionally 'this', but 'this' is usually for quoting someone) are for emphasis/sarcasmCrossed out words will only be used in writing to indicate a character crossed something out(like on a to do list)Everything in this fic is off by ten years. So, something in the story happening in 2000 actually happened around 2010. This is because it made more sense to me to start the story in 2000, but I wanted a more modern outlook on stuff. On hiatus for an unknown amount of time
Note
I own absolutely nothing of this fic, or else the plot wouldn't go this way. This is actually my second account because Ao3 signed me out of my first one and I don't have access to the password, so I lost all 100 fics I spent over a year and three months writing. Eight in progress, 92 completed, I believe. After that my life decided to continue going downhill: my shoes got shrunk, I had a big fight with one of my closest friends, I have an upper respiratory infection made worse by a semi-severe pollen allergy, and a pulled ligament in my knee....So, yeah. I should be back on top of everything now, though!

Victoire's First Birthday!

Wednesday, May 2nd, 2001

“So, Fleur, what’s it like to have a one year old?” Harry questioned the older woman, sipping on his tea.

Fleur laughed. “Well, it’s only been a few hours, but it’s not that different. Except….Me and Bill were thinking of having another baby.”

“Really?” Harry sat up from his slightly slouched position. “When?”

“Yes, we’re not exactly sure when, but soon I would say. Within the next year we’ll start trying….We can’t decide if we want two kids, or four, so I think we’ll just end up having three.”

“Who wanted what amount?”

“I want four because it’s become quite a trend in my family to have two children per set of parents, and I see no reason to continue that. Bill has always thought about having two since he really doesn’t want to be like his parents in that regard. So, we’ve decided to have two, then wait a while and maybe have a third if we think it would be right.”

“But, definitely more than one and less than four?” Harry confirmed.

“Yes. Neither of us want more than four as we just don’t think we have the time or energy for that. But, especially after Victoire’s first year, we really want at least two kids. Don’t get me wrong, Victoire is more than enough for us on her own, but….Well we’d like to do it again. Not a redo or anything, just….Well, I don’t really know how to explain it, we just want two or three kids.”

“I understand. I think Sage will be my only, though. Not only do I have no idea how I would even have another kid, but I also want to focus all my attention on them.”

“Perhaps you’ll change your mind in a couple years, but likely not I would say. I’ve wanted four kids since I was seven, when I actually thought about kids. And Bill’s wanted two longer.”

“I did actually want a big family when I was younger, lots of kids and all that. But, as I’ve gotten older, that just doesn’t seem the right path for me. My therapist thinks my younger fantasies were less about wanting to be a father to multiple children, and more to do with wanting an actual family.”

“That makes sense.” Fleur nodded. “Though, you know, you did end up with a big family. Just not the way you thought.”

“That’s true, I think I much prefer it this way anyway….It’s nice being loved by so many. Actually loved, not what the media has always done.”

“It is.”
