Everyone deserves a second(first) chance
Summary
In June of 2000 Poppy Pomfrey finds a newborn version of ex-professor Severus Snape lying in his rooms. After determining identity, health, and means of the de-aging, Poppy concludes that Severus will have to re-start his life over. He needs a guardian, and Harry Potter is elected, which he eventually agrees to. But, Harry doesn't take the expected route in raising his child. One thing is sure though: this new baby will have a life a thousand times better than Harry or Severus's.“This” means talking(including AAC devices)“Italics” means talking in the past(like flashbacks)'Italics' means thinkingThis is anything nonverbal(like scenery, descriptions, body language, etc)Italics, bold, and underlined(and occasionally 'this', but 'this' is usually for quoting someone) are for emphasis/sarcasmCrossed out words will only be used in writing to indicate a character crossed something out(like on a to do list)Everything in this fic is off by ten years. So, something in the story happening in 2000 actually happened around 2010. This is because it made more sense to me to start the story in 2000, but I wanted a more modern outlook on stuff. On hiatus for an unknown amount of time
Note
I own absolutely nothing of this fic, or else the plot wouldn't go this way. This is actually my second account because Ao3 signed me out of my first one and I don't have access to the password, so I lost all 100 fics I spent over a year and three months writing. Eight in progress, 92 completed, I believe. After that my life decided to continue going downhill: my shoes got shrunk, I had a big fight with one of my closest friends, I have an upper respiratory infection made worse by a semi-severe pollen allergy, and a pulled ligament in my knee....So, yeah. I should be back on top of everything now, though!

Valentine's Day

Wednesday, February 14th, 2001

“Guess, what, Sage?!”

“Wha-?” Harry wasn’t sure if Sage was actually asking, or just repeating, but went on regardless.

“Today is Valentine’s Day! Every February fourteenth some people celebrate a 3rd-century Roman Saint and martyr. People celebrate Valentine’s Day by spending it with the people they love and getting them gifts.”

“Love! Dada!”

“Yes, love. Dada loves you very much, kiddo.”

“Aha!” Sage laughed, and Harry just smiled continuing to try and clip their romper together at the bottom.

“Harry?!” Harry heard someone—Hermione?—shout from the kitchen just as he began walking down the steps, holding a, now, fully dressed Sage.

Walking into the kitchen, Harry found that it was in fact Hermione and relaxed quite a bit. “‘Mione?”

“Oh, Harry, thank goodness.” Hermione sighed, sitting herself down on a kitchen chair. “Can we talk?”

“One second.” Harry promised, before settling Sage alone in the living room with a baby monitor and multiple spells, sat up to keep them safe.

“What is it?” Harry sat across the table from Hermione who was in his usual seat next to Sage’s highchair.

“I’m just confused and…kind of scared….I’ve told George and he said I should talk to you, but….I just don’t know what to feel or do….”

“Is it a bad thing?”

“....No….”

“Okay, then. Why does it scare you?”

“That’s sort of hard to explain with no context.”

“Then give me context.”

“I just….We’ve been friends since we were eleven and I know you’ll be okay with this, but both of those facts make me more scared that you won’t be.”

Harry suddenly got flashbacks to his conversation with George a month ago, but wasn’t sure if he was jumping to conclusions too fast. “Mia, I love you. No matter what it is, I promise that won’t change.”

“I….Someone asked me to be their Valentine….And…I said yes….”

“That’s amazing, ‘Mione! I’m so happy for you….So, why are you scared?”

“I….It’s a woman.”

Harry knew it. “So you’re attracted to women, then?”

“....Yeah, I think I am….I don't like men, I think….It’s just, just women.”

“I like both, so I don’t completely understand how you feel, but I’m still super happy for you. You’re my sister, Mia, I’ll love you no matter what.”

“You’re bisexual?”

“Yeah.”

“I love you too, Harry….No matter what.”
