Everyone deserves a second(first) chance
Summary
In June of 2000 Poppy Pomfrey finds a newborn version of ex-professor Severus Snape lying in his rooms. After determining identity, health, and means of the de-aging, Poppy concludes that Severus will have to re-start his life over. He needs a guardian, and Harry Potter is elected, which he eventually agrees to. But, Harry doesn't take the expected route in raising his child. One thing is sure though: this new baby will have a life a thousand times better than Harry or Severus's.“This” means talking(including AAC devices)“Italics” means talking in the past(like flashbacks)'Italics' means thinkingThis is anything nonverbal(like scenery, descriptions, body language, etc)Italics, bold, and underlined(and occasionally 'this', but 'this' is usually for quoting someone) are for emphasis/sarcasmCrossed out words will only be used in writing to indicate a character crossed something out(like on a to do list)Everything in this fic is off by ten years. So, something in the story happening in 2000 actually happened around 2010. This is because it made more sense to me to start the story in 2000, but I wanted a more modern outlook on stuff. On hiatus for an unknown amount of time
Note
I own absolutely nothing of this fic, or else the plot wouldn't go this way. This is actually my second account because Ao3 signed me out of my first one and I don't have access to the password, so I lost all 100 fics I spent over a year and three months writing. Eight in progress, 92 completed, I believe. After that my life decided to continue going downhill: my shoes got shrunk, I had a big fight with one of my closest friends, I have an upper respiratory infection made worse by a semi-severe pollen allergy, and a pulled ligament in my knee....So, yeah. I should be back on top of everything now, though!

First Halloween(but mostly just a cute moment)

 Tuesday, October 31st, 2000

“Look at you, my little one!” Harry cooed, bouncing Sage on his hip as they danced. “Do you know what today is? Or how old you are?”

Of course, Sage didn't know either or things, or respond in anyway more than giggles, but that was okay. They weren't expected to.

“It's Halloween! And, in two days, you'll be five months!”

Sage laughed more and Harry though it was just the most perfect sound ever. “Do you know where Halloween came from?”

“Da!”

“No, not from me, lovely....Halloween originated from the Celtic Pagan holiday Samhain and Catholic holiday All Saint's day. In fact, many wixen still practice Samhain instead of Halloween. I celebrate Halloween, but it's okay if you want to celebrate Samhain or something else, or nothing, when you're older. I won't mind.”

“Dada!”

“Yes, Pumpkin?”

“Dada!” Sage repeated, poking Harry's cheek with their right index finger.

“That's right, Sage. I'm Dada.”

“Dada!” Sage smiled, melting Harry's heart.

“You sure do like that word, don't you? I like it too....I love you, Sage.”

“Love!”

“Yes, Sage, I love you. Love, love, love.”

“Love! Dada! Love!” Sage giggled, moving their body as they usually did when excited or just plain happy.

“You are just adorable. You know that, right? Absolutely cute as a button.” Harry tapped Sage's nose at 'button'.

“Dada!”

“Dada, dada, I know, dada. It's so fun to say, isn't it? You always sound so happy when you say stuff, I love it.”

“Love!”

“That's right, kiddo. Dada loves you, dada loves the way you speak, and dada loves how happy you always are.”

“Love!” Sage squealed. “Dada!”

Harry couldn't help but hug Sage tight against him. His perfect little Sage, an angel, if he believed in them.

This was the best decision he had ever made.
