Chapter 2

It was a quiet morning in the city of St. Petersburg. Victor was in bed with his beloved. He was propped up on his side admiring him as he slept, basking in how the sun from the window was shining on his face making him appear god-like. Well to Victor, Yuuri was his god and victor would be able to worship him for the rest of his days.

As Yuuri stirred Victor couldn’t help but feel butterflies, he was so lucky, all that feeling of emptiness and loneliness he felt prior to meeting Yuuri was wiped away. Yuuris eyes fluttered open and fell directly to Victor’s eyes. “Good morning my sleeping beauty.” Victor cooed.
A pink blush rose to Yuuris cheeks “Were you watching me sleep? You know that’s kind of creepy right.” He said with a smile

Victor brought a had to his heart and sighed dramatically. “kotyonok, I was just admiring your beauty, am I not allow to admire my wonderful fiancé.”

Yuuri definitely did not believe how good his intentions were but went along with it because his fiancé, soon to be husband, is an adoring idiot. Yuuri turned to him and hummed “sure…whatever you say. Anyways, what time is it? Don't we have training today?”

Victor groaned, a hand sliding down his face, “Yuuri, my darling, why did you remind me, I was going to ignore it until yakov or Yura comes busting down our door.”

Yuuri let out a giggle, of course his Vitya liked to make their life hell. “Well looking out the window it does seem rather bright out. Are you sure they haven’t already called you?” Yuuri responded, sitting up to reach over to his glasses sitting on the bedside table.

“Why on earth would I look at my phone when I could look at you my love.” Victor conveyed with such compassion.
Yuuri looked at Victor's face, certainly unimpressed. “Uh huh…please just check.” With that Yuuri got up from the bed with a groan, they definitely stayed up way too late last night and now as a result his backside was paying for it, why did Victor go so hard.

Although they got to sleep in a little later than usual, Yuuri desperately needed his morning coffee to numb his mind. Victor did really wish they both could stay in bed longer but as Yuuri got up it gave Victor the chance to admire the love bites he left behind on his beloved's back. Some parts were already starting to bruise but he could do nothing but feel proud and just as he was admiring his artwork the delicious view walked out the bedroom door.

Victor turned to his phone “huh, it’s 9:30 am and no calls or messages, guess were not the only slackers then” he didn’t even think to question it, maybe training was canceled. Technically yes he was Yuuris' coach and they should practice his quads but a rest day couldn’t hurt right especially after last night.

From the kitchen victor heard Yuuri yelling to come over. Victor threw the covers over and scurried out of bed as fast as he could at 9:30 in the morning.

“Yuuri! What's wrong? Are you hurt?” Victor said as he came rushing over to Yuuri’s side checking for any sign of actual injury. But there Yuuri was standing, eyes frozen on the tv, which appeared to be in some sort of news channel. Victor followed yuuri's eyes that were on the tv, and read the headline
“Disappearance of millions, governments in chaos.”

Victor didn’t understand, what on earth did that mean, sure you could never really trust Russian news 100% of the time but that's like all news outlets. Millions disappeared, surely not. Right? It had to be a prank.

“Yuuri I don’t understand, what is this, what’s happening, what are they talking about” At this point Victor was trying to get some context because whatever they were saying in the news was not making sense, he clearly was missing a big amount of information.

“Victor…their saying, people…disappeared, just gone with no trace…” Yuuri clarified. He had picked up the Russian language quite quickly, being surrounded by it 24/7. Sure he had a bit of an accent when speaking but he understood enough to hold a long two-way conversation and his listening skills were top notch, so he had no trouble understanding what the news was saying.

“No way…that’s..um..it can’t be. It’s probably a big prank or joke.” Victor said out loud in order to calm himself down.

“But Victor, it’s not just the Russian news, look” Yuuri grabbed the remote and started switching to international news channels. They happened to be saying the same thing in different ways. Yuuri left the tv on the American news channel, specifically the Washington one, with the president giving some sort of speech. The conference was coming to an end but just as it was about to close they gave the views one last message. This was to call loved ones to make sure that they were okay and if they were nowhere to be found then file a missing persons report.

This made victor and Yuuri stop, as the tv continued to play on in the background they turned and stared at each other. It finally clicked in Victor's brain, maybe, it couldn’t be, was the reason there were no messages from yakov or Yura because they were gone. Victor sprinted to his and yuuris room unplugged his phone, then ran back to the kitchen/living room are where they were watching the tv.

“Come on , come on, pick up, pick up” Victor said into the phone, his foot tapping on the ground. This made it click for Yuuri too, what Victor was doin. His friends, his family, were they here or were they gone. He ran back to the bedroom to grab his phone but came to a stop when he reached the nightstand, his hand was shaking. He too needed to start making calls. But what if nobody answered, what if it was just him, Victor and makka. Makka, who was still sleeping at the edge of the bed, blissfully unaware of the turmoil her parents were going through. He pushed all this anxiety down, and made his way back to victor, find out first than panic later.

Once he returned back to the living room area, he saw a frantic Victor repeating “shit, shit, shit” as he was gripping his phone to his ear causing his knuckles to turn white.

As Yuuri entered they made eye contact and this caused victor to break. He tried yakov, he tried yura, Georgi, Chris nobody was answering. He then tried again and again but still no answer. He was faced with Yuuri who was sitting on the couch, tears welling up in his eyes attempting the same useless thing as victor.

This went on for a few good hours, just them frantically trying to reach their family but alas out of everyone they called only three people picked up. Mila, Sara and Lilia. They were all stuck together, just the five of them.

Sara soon came to Russia and lived with Mila for the time being as she was alone in Italy. Millions of reports came in after a few weeks of missing people; this included all of yuuri’s family and majority of their skating family.

This event was dubbed ‘The Blitz’, it was hard on everyone. Jobs suffered, things like sport events were canceled which included ice skating, places shut down, governments fell apart and families too. The Blitz was all anyone was talking about and it was recorded that there were over 80 million people who were recorded as missing. This may not seem like a lot compared to the billions of people in the world, but the problem was the disappearance of people was random and all happened at the same time. The Blitz caused the birth rate to go down and the death toll to go up as well as the economy to also crash which only affected the already struggling world more.

On top of that, weird reports started to come in of impossible things suddenly becoming possible. Like the ability to grow wings or shoot fire from your hands. Again not helpful to the world and not what it needed either

————————————-

It had been a while since The Blitz happened and people were finally able to accept the new world that they were in, even the whole supernatural thing. it had been 2 years since the event and only 11 people returned out of the millions gone, so there was a possibility that people could come back, it was just all up to fate just like getting supernatural abilities. Though not everyone got powers, in those 2 years victor, mila, Sara, Lilia or Yuuri got any of these so called supernatural abilities.

Victor of course found it to be so cool, being able to do things like shoot lasers from your eyes or grow scales, it would be just awesome but he never wanted it for himself, it was cool on other people not him or his family. Yuuri himself found it different seeing everyone change around him, he understood the concept but he wasn't sure about how the powers actually came about.

Yuuri had made friends with supernatural abilities in the army but he was always curious about how, like did they just wake up one morning a vampire or did it happen gradually.

Yuuri, Victor, Mila and Sara after the Blitz, had joined the army as figure skating along with most sports was on a long hiatus. At first conscription was mandatory for every abled body over the age of 23 to 33 in your designated region. They had to serve a minimum of 6 months before being able to return to their new region and get a stable job with support from the government.

Of course, at first it was scary being in a place where they were trained to fight and shoot guns but surprisingly all of them found some joy in it, so they stayed. It was a place where if you were human or supernatural it didn't matter, what you could do deferred from other people whether it was being able to carry a whole bus or being the perfect sniper, everyone had their own skill.

They permanently joined the army after their time was up, each specializing in a specific skill. Victor and Sara worked in firearms while Mila and Yuuri worked better in hand to hand combat. Ice skating became a distant memory to them all, the only few reminder of it being the medals that remain in their trophy cases.

They all work together in the same unit, which meant that they all went on the same missions, as a result they all became extremely close and became one big family. Even though Lilia didn’t join the army, she was still a part of their new found family, she was like the mother of the group although scary, she cared for all of them deeply and it showed. When they got time off from their assignments she made them all go out for dinner like a family and she even babysits their pets while they're away. Lilia still was a ballet instructor, it was her passion and she wasn’t going to give it up just because people around changed.

The military was utilized to fight against other regions and people trying to overthrow the government, basically anyone trying to fuck up the world more than it already was. They did have to kill people but none of them saw it that way, which is what made it easier for them, but they all knew that if their family were to return then they were all in deep shit and would have a lot of explaining to do.
