Chapter 2

Peter was up early the next day nervous as hell, he was going to meet THE Avengers today. How do you prepare for that? Worries entered his mind, what if they disliked him or what if they were just a douchey as Stark could be. He paced up and down the walls of his apartment literally walking up them and the ceiling in loops around the room trying to figure out what to do with himself. He decided to refilled his web shooters, made sure his heads up display was functioning, and checked the suits insulation and checked to see if it had any holes. He made the decision  to go on patrol before he headed to the tower, he had time till kill since he got up so early and done everything he needed to do. Plus it would take his mind off the situation.

He cleaned the place, made sure his HUD was charged and working, tinkered with some new web bombs he was designing as well as fixing the electric web settings on the web shooters. He made some basic breakfast before heading out on patrol. Ned wasn't awake yet and Peter didn't want to wake him up since it was a short patrol, he'd be fine without his 'guy in the chair' for a few hours.

He swung through the Lower Eastside first, stopped a mugging but other than that it was quiet there. He then mad his way to Greewhich he stay there a while but no police reports that sounded like they needed him came up so he moved on. The Tower was in Midtown East, so Peter decided since he had time he would go up to Harlem then swing back around so he can get a proper patrol in. He stopped a few more muggings in Midtown west, an attempted rape, multiple fights of drunk idiots only just leaving clubs and bars. He moved onto the upper east around 12, he estimated he'd be at the tower by 2 now. He stopped some of Fisk's gang who were in a shootout with the NYPD and stopped a few other burglaries.

Harlem was next and was pretty quiet, nothing really happened. He saw some thugs gathered on a roof top and he assumed it was going to be an attempted robbery so he put a stop to that. Other than that nothing so he moved on quickly. He stopped a few muggings and police chases in the Upper Westside. It was a pretty simple patrol this morning. He started heading towards the Tower, it was about 1, he's an hour earlier than he predicted. He swung to the top like Tony had told him and laded on the helicopter pad when a voice spoke out of nowhere causing him to jump. "Welcome Spider-Man"

"Jeez!" He yelled, looking around for where the voice was coming from, "Who said that?"

"Hello, I am JARVIS. Mr Stark's personal artificial intelligence system. I have alerted him of your arrival and he should be with you in a moment. If you would like to take a step inside."

"Oh- okay." Happy with the explanation Peter entered the building into what looked like a lounge area with a fully stocked bar, couch and large tv screen. Peter stood awkwardly as he waited for Tony to arrive. "So JARVIS, what is your function?"

"I help run all the towers systems, monitoring everything except living quarters. I provide members of staff information and relay messages if requested as well as help run Mr. Starks suits, help him run experiments and Dr Banner and you while you stay here." JARVIS explained quite nonchalantly.

"Oh... so basically you do everything?"

"That would be a very apt way of explaining my function, Spider-Man."

"Parker!" Tony announced his name as he excited the elevator. "Good to see you've arrived."

"Yo! Ixsnay on the amenay! I still have a secret identity!"

"Kid, there is no one on this floor. Only Avengers are allowed on this floor. Your identity is secure Parker."

"Oh... okay."

"Right. I've sorted everything with the University, so as long as you write essays and reports on everything we do you'll get your qualification."

"Oh cool, that's awesome."

"Yeah, once we get started we can discuss that a bit more. But for now I can give you a tour." Tony told him, he gestured for Peter to follow to the elevator. Once Peter got in the doors closed behind him and he noticed there were no buttons. There was a map of the building where the buttons would normally be. "JARVIS take us to the main lab first."

"Right away, Sir." And with that they started to move. When they arrived on the floor they got out and Peter saw a very large lab that was two floors.

"This is the main lab, where people such as special guests will work or me you and Banner when we work on specific projects. Avengers or general work." Tony explain as they looked around. Peter noticed that there was a glowing staff on the table being analysed by equipment.

"Is that-"

"Loki's sceptre. Yep." Tony finished for him. "From the Battle of New York. Don't recall you showing up, you were active when it happened right?"

"Yeah, I got injured in the initial attack. Broken leg and broken arm, couldn't really fight. I'm surprised you didn't already know that from your in depth stalking." Peter explained and gave Tony a smirk. Which Tony returned.

"I wouldn't call it a stalking, I would say an interest in a potential science bro."

"Science bro?" Peter asked, lifting his eyebrow at Tony.

"Its what we, Banner and I, call ourselves. The Science Bros" He said moving his hands in the hair like the words hung there, obviously not finding the name corny at all. "Anyway, we just recovered it from a mission in Sokovia, taking down a Hydra research base. It's going back with Thor to Asgard in a few days, I'm just... testing a theory on it."

"Very cool. This lab is amazing, there's equipment in here that I don't think I'd ever get to use anywhere else." Peter said in awe as he looked over everything. He looked over into the next room and saw some gear through the glass that looked like he was tinkering with, he pointed over to it and asked, "What's that over there?"

"Oh that? Thats where I make the toys. Just some things I'm tinkering with, new armour for me, new helmet for Rogers, some weapons for Widow." Tony said listing a few things off. "Some stuff for War Machine. Some for Falcon, Steve's buddy. I tried working on some stuff for you, but to be honest kid. I can't figure out your webbing. The tensile strength on this thing is off the charts."

"I created the formula myself, after many many attempts. The fluid dissolves in an hour give or take, any change to the formula changes the strength and dissolve rate. I  can make it last longer if need be." Peter explained, wiggling his wrist at Tony as he did. "Web Shooter Mark 11 I think, hard to keep track sometimes."

"Impressive kid, very compact." Tony remarked as he looked at the small device on his wrist.

"Ha, should've seen the Mark 1, so bulky and heavy." Peter said with a small laugh, he rubbed his wrists, remembering how uncomfortable it use to be.

"I hear that. Mark 1 of my suit I built-"

"In a cave fighting terrorists." Peter said cutting Tony off this time, "I remember watching you come home and I remember when you revealed to the world that you was Iron Man."

"Right well, next is your floor." Tony said, turning back to the elevator.

"My floor?" Peter asked as he entered.

"JARVIS, Spideys floor." Tony announced to the A.I. and the elevator started moving. "Yeah your floor. Each Avenger has their own floor. Did I not say?"

"No, you didn't." Peter replied as the doors opened up, Peter would've gasped but stopped himself to look more professional. Okay maybe Tony wasn't as big as a douche as he thought. It opened up into a small living space, with a couch, large tv and kitchen, it was bigger than his whole apartment.

"You got your lab over there." Tony pointed to the left where opaque glass was. "State of the art equipment with the privacy you asked for. Only the avengers, your friend and you have access to this floor and lab." Tony then pointed to the right, "Down there is your bedroom and a small exercise room with equipment designed for you to help with your abilities and you can ask for anything other equipment if you need it. Multiple windows here are able to open if you need to go about your Spidey business. "

"You say bedroom?"

"Well yeah. You're an Avenger now and a student of mine. I thought it was obvious that you would live here?" Tony said looking at Peters dumbfounded face. Peter had taken his mask off to get a good look of the place. "Apparently not."

"Mr Stark-"

"Its Tony kid, don't get all brown nosey now that I've given you all this. Go back to the angsty ' I want to hate you but also idolise you'. I liked the attitude."

"Okay fine, Tony. This is all too much. You're already paying me and given me so many benefits."

"No kid, it's the right amount. You're an avenger now and a student of mine. You get every the others get and a bit more. You're an investment Pete, one that I plan to put a lot of effort into." Tony told him getting more serious than Peter has ever seen him, Peter nodded at this accepting this. "Someone will go collect your things tomorrow, I assume none of it's packed since you didn't realise you'd need to."

"Right okay, I guess I'll let my landlord know I'm moving out." Peter muttered to himself making a mental note.

"Right you can do that later. So let's go to the Avengers common area." Tony said entering the the lift again, Peter followed him putting his mask on in the process. "So the main lab over looks this area. It's where the avengers and guests hang out as well as where parties may be held." Tony explained. It was incredibly large with a well stocked bar and a piano in the corner. "Down the corridor is a kitchen and the training room. You'll find Clint in the kitchen a lot and Cap in the training room often. Oh!" Tony suddenly said turning on his heels to look at Peter, "There a party tonight, small celebration for the win in Sokovia. You're welcome to join, socialise with the team."

"As Peter or Spidey? I assume people who won't know my identity."

"Come as Peter, I can just tell people you're my new protégé or something."

"Right okay. So who knows?"

"Well, you said you wanted only the Avengers to know so we only told them. So there's Bruce, Steve, Clint, Thor and Natasha." Tony listed it off. "Rhodey, War Machine, will be at the party as well as Sam, the Falcon. I recommend telling them. They're like apart of the B team. Then there's Maria Hill, she is the liaison for the Avengers and works very closely with us. Might want to tell her." Peter nodded along. "So you can meet the team later if you want to go chill in your room, test out the lab. There's some cool tech in there, including a suit foundry where you can make any upgrades to your suit or even make a whole new suit."

"Yeah I'll go check it out." Peter said, attempting to hold in any childish excitement. He was an adult but Tony was making him feel like a child at Christmas right now. Peter headed for the elevator.

"I'll tell Jarvis to inform you when some of the team are in the common area." Tony yelled after him.

"Okay!"

Peter had been experimenting with his new equipment for a while now. He wasn't sure how long, not too long though but it felt like forever. He was in pure bliss right now, he was in his element. Designing a new suit was at the top of the list, he was in desperate need of an upgrade. He was in the middle of designing it on the computer next to him. He started changing the basic design. He wanted a change so he was testing out new colours and different concepts as well as different gear that might be useful. He was going to work on the HUD next, with all this tech he could make it so much more advanced than his current one. So many ideas were flowing through his head as, he was attempting to write them all down as they came to him thought the were very hard to read as they were rushed.

He finished up the designs for his costume and chose the one he wanted to do the most. He saved all of the draft designs and different concepts in a file for another time incase he wanted a change. He started the fabricator, it would take some time but it would be worth it. He stuck with the red and blue design with the webbing, if he changed it too much they might think he's a different hero. It had extra red the waist and legs. The biggest change was the large white spider emblem he now had in the centre of his chest and his back. It was much larger the the previous symbol, it popped out more. It was accompanied by white on the gloves too.  He was about to get started on the HUD when he was interrupted by JARVIS, "Spider-Man, Captain Roger and Miss Romanoff are in the training room if you would like to join them."

"Yeah JARVIS I would, let them know I'll be on my way down." He said leaving the lab, he grabbed his web shooters and changed into some work out gear from the well stocked wardrobe Tony set him up with. He wore a dark tank top with a small red spider on it and some jogging bottoms. He head for the elevator and told JARVIS to go to the Avengers floor. "Right away sir."

When he walked in to the training room he found both Captain America and Black Widow sparring in the centre of the room, hand to hand combat. Peter decided to watch, leaning against the wall he started to wrap his hands readying to train. He watched as they both countered each other, Widow was quick, she used Caps size and strength against him where Cap would counter that with a move she wasn't expecting our turning her attack back against her. They went at this a while, enough for Peter to stretch it out. In the end Widow had Cap pinned and he tapped out. Widow got up first and helped Cap up, she then turned to look at where Peter was leaning. "You must be the kid. Spider-Man, right?" She asked. Peter jumped slightly at her addressing him suddenly, he nodded as Cap turned around. He approached Peter with his had out and Peter took it and shook.

"Steve Rogers, good to meet you." He gestured to Black Widow next to him who had her arms folded. "This is Natasha."

"Y-yeah I know who you are, both of you. It's really great to meet you both. I'm Parker Peter. I mean Peter Parker!"

"You here to train?" Natasha asked him a small smile on her face from him be.

"Huh? Oh yeah! JARVIS said you guys were here so I thought I might have a little spar with one of you?" Peter suggested.

"You sure kid?" Steve asked and Peter raised his eyebrow at him. "Its just that we're pretty experienced, don't want to hurt you kid."

Peter's smiled faltered slightly, the nervousness now gone. "Trust me Captain. I've been at this for 6 years and I have fought bigger and stronger guys than you. I can handle a spar with a teammate." Peter said as he moved into the centre of the of the room. "So who am I sparring?" He asked sounding a little cocky to Steve. Steve and Natasha looked at one another and Natasha gestured for Steve to go ahead.

"I guess me." Steve said moving opposite Peter. "You ready Pete?"

"Sure let's do this." Peter said putting his arm at the ready, waiting for Steve to make the first move. Steve moved in close and went for a swing with his right fist which Peter dodged. Steve the went for a left swing which Peter ducked. Peter went for the leg sweep but Steve was on top of that and jumped out of the way. Peter made the first move this time going in with a jab which Steve blocked. Peter continued the bombardment of hits that Steve continued to block. Once Peter stopped he moved back to see Steve next move and to see if Steve had noticed what Peter had done. When Steve went to move and couldn't Peter laughed. Steve looked down and saw hid feet had been webbed to the ground, while he was distracted Peter went in for the take down. He webbed the wall behind Steve and used that to build the momentum to strike. Steve was quick enough to block it so it didn't hit his face but the power and the webbed feet made Steve fall to the ground on his back. A slow clap emanated from where Natasha stood. She was smirking at him and Steve as Steve let out a groan.

"I think you underestimated him Rogers."

"Ya think Romanoff?" He said, then laughed as he ripped the webbing of his feet, Peter offered him a hand which Steve gladly took. "You're strong kid. Probably as strong as me which is saying something."

"Just one of my many abilities."

"Dirty trick kid, using your webbing I mean."

"All is fair in a fight." Peter said with a smirk. "Plus it's how I fight the most with my webs. But I know how to fight if they break."

"So what other abilities do you have?" Natasha asked, chucking them both a bottle of water.

"Enhanced agility, speed, strength and reflexes. An enhanced 6th sense I call my 'Spider-Sense' that warns me of danger before it happens. Enhanced healing factor. I can also adhere to any surface." He said jumping to the ceiling to show how he sticks to it. "Thats about it really." Steve looked at Peter with a small bit of awe, dumbfounded by the fact he was sticking to the ceiling with such ease. Peter jumped down and took a swig of his water.

"Impressive, I'll give you that." Natasha said as she moved off the wall. "How about a spar with me?"

"S-sure," Peter stuttered slightly. The look on her face made him a bit more scared of her, he was remembered that she was a trained assassin and also took down Steve in the fight.

"Now I know what I need to counter. Let see you take me down as easily." She said with an evil smirk.

"Ready when you are." He said raising his fists.
