Chapter 6
The routine changed, and now she was back in her old routine, slowly getting back to where she was before. She liked the mundane routine allowing her to fall back into a repetitive spin that allowed her to really let loose during her side gig.
“So do you have plans this weekend?” Gahyeon asked, walking into the other bunny’s office.
“Um… I’m going to hang out with a friend, other than that… No.” She answered without looking up from her computer.
“Oh…” Gahyeon whispered.
“What about you? Any plans?” Minji asked, turning in her seat to look at the younger hybrid.
“Um… Nothing really… Just studying.” She shrugged.
“Hoping I did something fun so you could live through me?” Minji asked, watching her nod her head. “Well… I’m pretty boring,” She chuckled.
When the weekend hit, Minji was at the cafe with Bora, watching the stupid rich hybrids torment the workers again. She was happy that they were just there to pick up their orders and go since Bora wanted to stay inside her apartment and be away from the world.
“Hey! You’re back!” Yoohyeon immediately greeted them, smiling at the two. “Staying or going?” She asked.
“We ordered ahead,” Bora answered.
“Oh, okay. Just give me a minute,” She smiled.
The two stepped aside, and a flash of blonde caught Minji’s attention. She saw Siyeon sitting at a corner table, away from the crowds of people, her entire focus on the computer in front of her.
“That’s Yooh’s friend.” Minji nudged the kitten, pointing in the direction of the other girl so Bora could see.
“Singnie!” Bora squealed, catching the human’s attention. Minji wanted to groan but held it in when the human looked at them. “Long time no see, how have you been?” The kitten smiled.
“Oh, hey!” Siyeon smiled. “Everything’s okay. Overworking myself as per usual,” She chuckled while gesturing to her laptop. “How have you been? You and Yubin still good?” She asked.
“Of course. My lovely wife is doing extremely well. Same with me,” Bora smiled. “Minji tells me you two met?” She gestured to Minji, allowing the human to give her a quick once-over.
“Oh! Yeah! We met a while ago… Glad to see you’re doing well.” Siyeon gave her a polite smile.
“Same to you,” Minji muttered.
Minji ended up excusing herself, walking away from the two to wait for their order so she could leave sooner. She was able to see Yoohyeon walking with their order, and she couldn’t have been more grateful.
“Um… Can… I ask you something?” Yoohyeon whispered.
“What is it?” The bunny asked.
“Are you single?” The puppy frowned.
“Oh… Um… I… I am?” Minji answered, slightly confused as to why she was asking this question.
“I… I have a friend… She… She is bouncing back from a bad breakup and-and well… I told her that I could probably set her up with one of my other friends, but… I really only have her and you so…”
“Oh… So… Not you,” Minji laughed, a little relieved. “Well… I really don’t… Go on dates…” She sighed.
“She said she would pay for dinner, just me setting her up would be enough,” Yoohyeon quickly explained. “So… Can I tell her yes?” She frowned.
Minji really didn’t want to, but the pout Yoohyeon had made her really want to give in.
“Sure… Just… Text me the details.” Minji smiled.
The hybrids made their way back to the apartment, allowing Minji to spill everything to Bora about what Yoohyeon told her.
“You’re getting back in the dating game?!” Bora squealed. “Oh, this is big… You haven’t been in the dating scene in years…” She whispered.
“Can we not,” Minji groaned. “It’s just to be a rebound. It won’t lead to anything,” She shrugged.
“Still a free dinner and a date, so it’ll be nice for you. Do you know when?” Bora explained.
“Yoohyeon is going to text me the details. I’ll probably forward them to you so you can be nosy,” the bunny shrugged.
“This is exciting, do you have anything nice to wear?” The kitten purred, leaning forward.
“Define nice,” Minji chuckled.
The two stayed close together, enjoying their relaxing time while watching movies. Minji couldn’t help but cringe at a few, frowning when she saw the stereotypical bunny role again. Her phone vibrated, catching her attention while the movie continued to play the cringiest scene ever.
“Yooh sent me the details… Tomorrow night, at… Some restaurant I’ve never heard of…” Minji frowned while showing her the message.
“Oh my… Fancy…” Bora whispered. “Black collar… You’ll need a really nice outfit…” She explained.
“Collar?” Minji frowned.
“Hybrids need them when going into that place… Come, I’ll show you,” Bora led her into her giant closet, opened a cabinet, and pulled out a drawer. She showed off a few of her collars, causing Minji to scoff. “It’s not what you think,” She sighed.
“Then what is it?” Minji frowned.
“It’s just…” Bora looked up at her, frowning. “It shows you belong to someone, you can’t go in without a collar since you aren’t…”
“Owned by someone? Bora, why would I wear something like this? I don’t even wear them during my own sessions!” She glared.
“It shows you aren’t feral,” The kitten explained. “I told you that you could easily blend in with high society. And high society means wearing collars like this,” Bora frowned. “I wore them growing up, I have no issue with them, and you’ll need to get used to them,” She handed over a black collar, watching the bunny scrunch her nose up and glare at the item. “Don’t think of it as being owned by a human… It’s my collar that I bought. You’ll be my bunny,” She explained.
Minji rolled her eyes before lifting her ears and gathering her hair. She let the kitten buckle it around her neck, adjusting it before letting her see herself in the mirror.
“Wow…” Bora whispered, admiring her best friend.
Minji looked at the collar. It was a shiny black leather, with a silver butterfly pendant hanging on the front with a few decorative chains hanging from it. It was clear that it was stupidly expensive and if Minji was completely honest, she did kind of like how it looked on her.
“Does it bother you?” Bora asked.
“Kind of… But… I’m just not used to it,” Minji muttered.
“Wear it until after the date. You can give it back when you see me again. Yubin isn’t planning on taking me anywhere special for a while,” She sighed. Minji raised an eyebrow at her, seeing the kitten’s ears drop in the mirror. “After my last outburst she doesn’t really take me places,” She frowned.
“Outburst?” Minji asked.
“I hissed at a guy, and it didn’t go well with the crowd… So… If she goes anywhere I have to stay home,” She explained.
“You’re not allowed because you hissed at a guy?” Minji growled.
“It’s a different world Minji, I can’t just let my instincts take over. Yeah, he was handsy and I shouldn’t have done what I did. Simple as that,” The kitten frowned. “Just… Don’t act on your instincts and you’ll be fine,” She explained.
“What did Yubin say when you told her what happened?” Minji was furious. How could she expect anything from a human?
“She yelled at the guy for making me hiss… Yelled at him for touching me, when clearly I had a ring on my finger and a collar on my neck,” Bora explained.
Minji rolled her eyes. Of course, the human would refer to the damn collar.
“Don’t be so angry Minji… Yubin lets us do a lot of things together… She can easily change her mind…” Bora frowned before hugging the bunny. “I know you hate humans, but please… Yubin isn’t like them, it’s been years and you need to learn that,” She whispered. “For me.”
