Tangle raised both her arms in the air as she stretched, falling out of her hammock, which was set up next to a large, white caravan decorated with an orange stripe.
Tangle yawned loudly, rubbing her eyes as Whisper stood next to the caravan, smiling as she leaned against her wispon, waiting for Tangle.
"Morning!" Tangle said in a cheerful voice as she walked towards Whisper.
Whisper slowly lifted up one of her hands, waving in reply as she moved to open the caravan door.
"Heading to Spiral Hill?" Whisper mumbled softly as she gestured towards the inside of the caravan, Tangle holding her fist against her chin as she thought for a moment, briefly, and suddenly, struck by confusion,
"Why would we-" Tangle went to speak, but eventually remembered, lowering her hand as she finished her sentence,
"OHH! Right, Maple! We were gonna introduce them to Jewel today, huh?"
Tangle turned to enter the caravan, speaking just as she went to walk inside,
"I'll go brush my hair 'n stuff, then we can go introduce Maple-"
however, her sentence was cut short- by the very wolf she was talking about,
Speak of the devil, It seemed like.
Maple, a young wolf with light grey, scruffy fur speckled with mud, tall pointed ears, one of which had a small scar on, and sharp, black claws alongside round orange-amber eyes with yellow sclera, darted out of the caravan, triumphantly and proudly holding a metal baseball bat, covered in dents and dotted with rust, running just past Tangle.
"WOAH-" Tangle exclaimed as Maple ran past her, having moved just out of the way so Maple wouldn't run into her.
"Check this out- I found it in the caravan!" Maple yelled as they raised the bat into the air, swinging it around.
Tangle took a moment to regain her bearings, but she quickly noticed what the bat was-
And her eyes lit up, a flood of good memories returning as she stared at it-
"Oh crap- That's my baseball bat from when I was like, 8! I was wondering where that went!" Tangle shouted excitedly, before running into the caravan with a large smile on her face,
"I think I've got a few baseballs lying around we could use!" She continued as she looked through the caravan, Whisper chuckling slightly as she watched the two.
Minutes later, Tangle leaped out of the caravan, launching herself forward with her tail-
She was carrying an old, slightly worn baseball, and had just brushed her mullet, teeth, and prepared for the day ahead.
"Hey, Maple! Catch!" Tangle yelled as she span her arm round, before chucking a baseball as far as she could towards Maple-
"AHHHHH-" Maple said in response, absolutely shocked, catching the baseball in their mouth and biting down on it, almost tearing it in half before throwing it onto the floor.
"Mom, what the SHIT was that??" Maple shouted as they took a step back, surprised, having never played baseball before, then lowering the baseball bat.
"...You've never played baseball?" Tangle continued, raising an eyebrow as she walked over to pick up the ball.
"You-. Mom. You literally found me in a forest. No, I don't know what baseball is!" Maple replied, facepalming in disbelief before laughing slightly.
"You could teach me, though." Maple said, smiling slightly.
Tangle, having picked up the ball, thought for a second before placing it down on the floor, just beside the caravan.
Smiling, she replied,
"Yeah- maybe after we get back from my hometown, we can give it a shot!"
"Speaking of Spiral hill- we should probably get moving. Jewel's waiting for us at the museum." Tangle continued, Whisper slowly walking over, the three of them beginning to walk to Spiral hill village;
It didn't take long, getting there, the caravan being not so far outside the village, and soon later they arrived at the town's entrance-
Tangle charged in first, grabbing onto a lightpost with her tail and throwing herself into the air,
"Home-sweet-home!" The lemur yelled she landed onto the ground, throwing her arms up in the air joyfully.
"WOW!- This place is big!" Maple said excitedly, darting into the middle of town, randomly skipping and jumping down the stone pathway as they stared at the town's different locations, stores, and just everything, really, in awe.
Whisper walked over behind the two, every step getting closer toward Jewel's museum as Maple was too excited with everything else in the town to notice it.
"Museum's just ahead. " Whisper spoke, gesturing to the museum as Maple ran over to Ron's chilli dog stand, staring at the food on display.
Ron was away from his stand when Maple went to it, and was just recently returning-
He walked back to the stand, and looked down at Maple.
"Hi!" Maple spoke as they stood infront of the stand.
"....Uh, hi?" Ron replied, confused and somewhat concerned-
"....Where are your parents?? Shouldn't you be with them??" He asked, mildly distressed as Maple simply shrugged as an answer.
...
Maple stood in silence for a minute, staring at the food and condiments on the stand as Ron was confused and unsure what to do.
...
Then, just as Tangle began to walk over, Maple started to get nervous, standing around doing nothing for too long, and disliking the awkward silence.
Maple then decided to break the silence, by yelling,
"KAPOW!" As loud as they could, shortly before hitting the stand with the baseball bat and running off.
Tangle then suddenly, and awkwardly, stopped walking towards the stand and instead went over to Maple.
"SORRY, RON! I'LL HELP YOU FIX THAT LATER- PROMISE!" Tangle shouted, Ron quickly realizing that Maple was her kid.
He then lowered his head onto the stand, groaning before muttering to himself,
"Oh god. There's two of them now." In a tired, somewhat upset and mildly annoyed voice.
As Tangle brought Maple over to Whisper, she spoke,
"Maple, what the frick was that??? you- you're not supposed to just destroy chilli dog stands!" , waving her arms in the air, surprised as Maple just gave her a confused look in response.
"It was getting awkward? I wanted to leave?" Maple replied, raising an eyebrow as they spoke completely genuinely.
Tangle stopped for a second, before placing her hands together and pressing them against her chin, completely and utterly confused before speaking,
"Maple- Maybe just- walk away, next time?? It's just. generally not a good thing to hit people's stuff with bats. Got it?"
Maple looked at the ground, thoroughly confused as they processed this information.
"I..."
It took Maple a second, but they understood the basic idea.
"Yeah, okay- I get that." They said as Tangle sighed in relief, Maple yelling towards Ron before they finally went over to Whisper,
"SORRY, DUDE!"
Whisper then opened the doors of the museum, Maple running inside as they dragged the bat across the floor with them.
Jewel slowly got up from her desk, walking over to Whisper, Tangle, and Maple.
"Hi!- So, is this who you were gonna introduce me to?" Jewel said, smiling.
"Yeah! This is Maple, our kid! We found them lying around and adopted them." Tangle replied happily, Jewel's expression suddenly shifting to very, very concerned.
"Nice to meet the- wait, you...found them? just lying around? where!?" Jewel continued, unsure what to say.
"The woods." Whisper spoke, Tangle also speaking seconds after,
"Oh yeah, in the woods!"
Jewel then looked even more concerned than before- she looked very worried.
"...You?...Tangle!...You don't just adopt random children you find in the woods! That's not normal!" Jewel yelled, shocked by how Tangle and Whisper are somehow completely unbothered by this.
Maple, who had been mostly ignoring the conversation, spoke up,
"What were they supposed to do? Leave me there? I'm a CHILD!", idly swinging both their arms and the baseball bat.
"....I- Maybe try figure out why you're in the woods?- And who gave you a bat!?" Jewel continued, Tangle nervously placing her hand on her neck.
"....Tangle. Tangle please don't tell me you gave this kid a bat. why." Jewel facepalmed, quickly realizing that there isn't much she can say- Tangle and Whisper both seemingly have no idea why this child was in the woods, or even if the child had family beforehand (Although it seemed unlikely they did).
Walking over to Maple, Jewel gave them a handshake and spoke, just before the three left,
"Well- It was nice meeting you, anyway. You're welcome to visit the museum anytime!"
Now, back at the caravan, as Tangle, Whisper, and Maple had returned home,
there was some more old friends to introduce Maple to-
Who were they again?...
.
.
.
Oh, right.
Sonic and Tails.
Wonder how those two are doing.
