Kara tried to go home in the morning after facing hard verbal blows from her classmates. Sadly, the office staff wasn't too understanding and didn't allow her to come home just because a couple of kids picked on her. What they clearly didn't understand is that it wasn't just a couple of kids. It was basically the entire student body. Kara walked into her class after the assembly and sat in the very back. She often sat alone in the corner because nobody wanted her next to them. That was until Lena came.
Lena sat in her class,with Kara. She didn't sit by her the image of Kara running out, sobbing, kept playing in her mind. It upset her and she didn't even know why. She turned her head and saw Kara sitting by herself. She grabbed her bookbag and got up. Her best friend Brandon, noticed. Brandon Lord is Maxwell Lord's equally douchebaggy twin, as Alex and Winn called it.
"Hey, where are you going?" he asked. She ignored his response. "Lena!" he called. She just walked away and sat next to Kara. He curled his nose in disgust. How could she just sit next to the freak? Brandon always had a crush on Lena. He followed her around like a puppy. He was not as bad as Gillian or Trinity, but he was just as cruel. The only friend Lena had, that didn't bully Kara, and actually stood up for her here and then was a boy named Troy Vanwell. He and Lena had a falling out after Brandon told Troy if he knows what's good for him, that he should stay away from Lena.
"Hey" Lena said. Kara looked up and saw Lena, a shocked look came on her face.
"Le..Lena?" She asked. Lena smiled and sat down, ignoring the whispers circling the classroom.
"Hi" Kara replied quietly.
Class wasn't so bad. The teacher was doing a lecture the entire class, so nobody had time to mess with Kara. After the bell rang. Lena bid her goodbye and told Kara they could eat lunch together if they wanted. Taken by surprise, Kara just nodded.
"Great" Lena replied with a smile. Brandon watched from the front of the room. Glaring. Lena left first, for she had a meeting with some of her clubs before lunch. Kara gathered her items and went to head out the door, where she was stopped by Brandon.
"excuse me, Brandon.." Kara mumbled.
"I saw you earlier freak show. Don't think I'm allowing you to corrupt my best friend" Brandon said in an angry tone.
"I..I need to get to lunch," Kara said, scooting passed Brandon from the little crack. Brandon growled and grabbed the small her by her backpack and shoved her against a locker.
"I wasn't done speaking to you! freak" his voice shook from anger, jealousy and rage.
"Please..just leave me alone" Kara begged.
"You stay away from Lena. YOU STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM HER IF YOU KNOW WHAT'S GOOD FOR YOU" He yelled right in her face, causing her ears to not handle it well.
"Please let me go" Kara said as tears spilled down her face. Brandon lifted her up and threw her to the ground, he was about to kick her when Ms. Grant spoke. Ms. Grant is the Vice Principal and probably one of the only decent people in the school.
"Mr. Lord" she said in an angry tone. Kara looked up and saw her, letting out a sigh of relief.
"Ye..Yes?" He asked, fear running through his veins. Kara could hear his heart racing. As if he actually had a heart.
"My office" She told him, "now".
Brandon let out a low growl as he stepped towards Kara, making her flinch.
"now, Mr. Lord" Ms. Grant said again. Brandon gathered his items and went towards the main office.
Ms. Grant went over and helped Kara stand up. Wiping her hands on her jeans and adjusting her glasses. She looked at the vp.
"Th...Thank you" Kara said quietly.
"Of course dear. Run along to lunch. I will deal with Mr. Lord, and if he or anyone else gives you trouble , you tell me, okay" Ms. Grant tells her, Kara nods and walks over to the cafeteria.
Kara ran in and saw Lena sitting at a table far away from her friends. Lena waved and Kara walked over.
"Hey! I was beginning to worry" Lena said with a smile. "are you okay?' she asked. Kara just nodded.
"Aren't you going to eat?" Lena asked. Kara shook her head. Almost getting beaten up made her lose her appetite.
"Not hungry.." Kara squeaked softly as she sat down. Lena nodded, but she was still concerned. Kara looked up and saw her other bullies, Grace Parker and Selena walked over.
"oh boy.." Kara muttered, "not good". They arrived.
"Danvers! heard you enjoyed our little show" Grace said with that stupid smug face she had.
"Leave her alone Grace, can't you see she's tired of your shit?" Lena said, speaking up.
"Nobody asked for your opinion, Luthor" Selena told her. Lena just glared.
"Get up Danvers" Grace ordered. When Kara didn't, Grace got mad. She walked closer and shoved Kara out of her seat.
"When I tell you to get up, you listen, freak" Grace told her. Kara was shaking, she stood up. Selena noticed Kara's necklace. She went over and tugged it hard enough for it to break.
"Whoops" Selena said smugly.
"Give that back!" Kara yelled, as tears were about to spill down her face. "That's all I have left of my mother" She argued. Lena stood up and walked over.
"Give it back to her, Selena" Lena said.
"MM..No" Selena replied as she threw the necklace to the ground and stomped on it.
Kara's eyes widened as she watched it shatter into tiny pieces.
"No!" Kara cried, she bent down to the ground and tried to collect pieces. Lena looked down and looked back up.
"What the hell is your problem?" She asked, now infuriated.
"Nothing, Luthor, we just don't like freaks" Grace said, she grabbed Selena's milk and dumped it all over Kara. Kara let out a small gasp.
"oops" She said as she laughed, Lena ran over and punched her in the face, Grace stumbled back, yelling in pain, cursed at Lena as she and Selena told them they'll both burn and ran away. Lena rushed to Kara's side.
"Kara, hey. We can fix that necklace of yours. let me help you" Lena said softly.
"You… you don't think I'm a freak?" Kara asked, tears in her eyes as milk dripped down her hair. Lena felt her heart break as grabs a napkin from their table and dried off Kara's face.
"Never. Come on, I'll help you get cleaned up" She says. Kara nods, Lena helps her up and they walk out of the cafeteria, and run into Jason.
"Kara! oh my God! are you okay?" he asked, worried.
"I'm fi..fine, but they broke my mother's necklace" Kara said as she sobbed into Lena's side. Lena wrapped her arms around Kara, she noticed Jason eyeing her.
"I won't hurt her, I promise. I took care of the girls who did this" Lena told him.
"Okay, good. Can you take my sister to the bathroom and help her wash up?" Jason asked Lena. Lena nodded.
"Already on it" She replied, she held onto Kara's side. "Come on darling, let's get you cleaned up" as she began to guide Kara to the closest bathroom.
"Thank you.." Jason said, "look out for her will you?" he asked.
"I promise" Lena replied. Kara looked up at Jason, who mouthed 'love you', earning a smile from Kara.
Lena and Kara got to the bathroom, and Lena helped Kara settle as she grabbed some paper towels.
"Thank you.." Kara said softly.
"Of course" Lena replied as she began to wipe Kara's face.
