Note
Not sure where this story will be going but I had a vibe after listening to Hooked by Why Don't We, okay? Also English isn't my first language - I'm Swedish - so please bear with any potential errors. // Deku waved his finger at him. “Like I told you earlier: That's where you're wrong. I may be a criminal since I don't follow the laws. But I am no villain"

Something less boring

Fuck! How the hell do you do it?” Dabi grunted as the screen once again showed him as second place in the score credits.

Midoriya laughed as the victor he was, then winced as his ribs ached from it. “Well first of all, you need to relax your grip on the controller, second of all, ever considered that you just suck at Mario Kart?”

Dabi flipped him off. “Want me to barbecue you or something?”

“Settle down kids - FIGHT TO THE DEATH!” Twice dealt out the chocolate chip cookies he and Toga had spent the last hour and a half trying to get non-poisonous.

Midoriya happily took a bite out of his but Dabi looked uneasy as he stared at the cookie in his hand. The older man's troubled expression made it all so much sweeter to him.

“What? Scared of a cookie?” Midoriya teased. He knew full well why Dabi was hesitating: last time Twice had tried baking something it had put him out of commission for a full week just puking his guts out. To this day there was not a single person who had figured out where the baking had gone wrong. Midoriya trusted Togas surveillance to have prevented such things from happening again, thus he didn't feel too worried about it.

“By the way”, the girl in question began when she entered the room. “Wasn't Hawks coming in today? Dabi?”

“I really don't see why you're so eager for that chicken to come over. He's a hero after all”, Dabi replied without looking away from the new game Midoriya had started.

“And your boyfriend, is he not?” she countered.

“Touché”

“Talking about missing people: Where are Shigaraki and Kurogiri?”

“Oh they're out on some errand, sorry Izuku but can't tell you more”, Toga answered with a gigglish smile.

“Well like Dabi said then: Touché” Midoriya shrugged. He wasn't actually that curious anyway.

At that moment someone violently threw open the door and the four people already in the room turned to watch it. None of them were alarmed by it since they all already knew exactly who it was. Nobody else ever made such a dramatic entrance.

“Oh hey, you're finally here”, Midoriya greeted unimpressed.

Hawks pointed a finger towards the green headed boy as he leaned on the door-frame, gasping for air and his crimson feathers a ruffled mess. “You!”

Me”, Midoriya smiled chirpily.

“You little shit!” Hawks took a few angry steps towards him until the pointing finger was practically touching Midoriya's freckled nose. “Do you realize..! How fucking annoying..! It is..! To chase after you!”

“Well that is the point when you don't want to get caught”

Hawks looked like he wanted nothing more than to strangle him but Midoriya only laughed in the same gleeful way he had when he beat Dabi.

“How can a quirkless move so freaking fast anyway…” Hawks sighed and let himself flop down on Dabi’s chest. “I swear this kid… Hello by the way”

“Yeah, hello to you too. Glad to finally be noticed”, Dabi said sarcastically but he was smiling fondly. Something that only ever happened in the presence of Hawks. “Did he really give you that hard of a time?”

“Yes he did!” Hawks’ head shot up again to give Midoriya a burning look.

“Well maybe don't chase me then”

“I wish”, Hawks stuck out his tongue. “But I actually have a honest job to fulfill”

“And how are you fulfilling it by being in a room of four of the city’s most wanted, snuggling with one of them at that?” Midoriya pointed out with a raised eyebrow.

Hawks waved him off. “Shut up, I’m off duty”

Dabi snorted and the room filled with laughter.

“Kid you're up!” Dabi gestured with a thumb towards the door when the sound of the doorbell was heard.

“Right, I almost forgot why you keep me around” Midoriya rolled his eyes and went to retrieve the pizza they had ordered.

“Well it's not our fault you are the only anonymous criminal here!” He called back after him.

“It literally is!” Midoriya turned around to walk backwards just to flip the black haired man off.

“Hey! I'm no criminal - I'm a fucking hero even” Hawks protested.

“Nah, withholding crucial information on multiple wanted criminals is pretty criminal” Toga stated matter of factly. Midoriya pointed to her as a way of saying: She's right. He then made sure to cover the view of the pizza delivery man so that he wouldn't catch a glimpse of the people behind him and sent him on his way as fast as possible.

“By the way, as a vigilante” Hawks began, “shouldn't you also be going after these villains?”

“Don't bring my morals into this”

“Wha..?!” Hawks shot a look at Dabi: Do you hear this? But the tall boyfriend betrayed him by only shrugging in response.

“Thank you Midoriya! - go kill yourself”, Twice said as he grabbed the boxes from Midoriya.

“Yeah I'm gonna listen to the first one: you’re welcome”, Midoriya replied and sat back down on the sofa. “Move over you disgusting lovebirds”

“What happened to being respectful towards your elders?” Hawks said with a raised eyebrow but he was smirking nonetheless.

“As if i would ever respect an ostrich like you”

“Hawk! If I'm any bird it is a hawk!” he retaliated.

“Whatever you say you cannibalistic chicken”

“I swear this damn kid..!”

They eventually put on a movie to watch - after all this was meant to be a movie night - and by the third one only Midoriya and Dabi were still awake. Toga and Twice were dozing off leaning against each other in the middle of the nest of pillows and blankets they had created on the floor.

Midoriya silently went from crossing his feet under him to a crouch on the sofa, thanks to the two sleeping in front of him he didn't have any room to put them on the floor, instead he quietly climbed over the back of the sofa.

“Are you staying the night or leaving?” Dabi asked in a low voice, careful not to disturb the sleeping lover resting on his chest.

“I think I'll stay over, i've been out enough for tonight”, Midoriya replied, but as he headed for the spare room they kept for him thinking the short conversation was over Dabi spoke up again.

“You know, you've been off ever since you came in that door. I haven't said anything because it's none of my business but Keigo mentioned you having an altercation with one of the heroes-in-training that joined in on the chase”

Midoriya came to a halt. Suddenly he was filled with a weird hesitation. For a moment he stayed silent, pending on what answer to give before he turned around to face him. “Well you could say i found something to make being jobless less boring”

Dabi's face stayed neutral. Midoriya always found it kind of frustrating how Dabi was so hard for him to read. He couldn't tell what he was thinking just based on his facial expressions but it seemed Dabi could with him. With anyone else it was the other way around.

“Oh yeah, I suppose you liked that place quite a bit. You wanna tell me what this ‘something’ is?”

“Please, what are you my mother?”

Dabi rolled his eyes.

“Anyway, I might actually not be jobless just yet”, instead as he remembered the conflicted face of that boy he had met earlier, Bakugou was it? He’d followed him and the others all the way to UA high and their dorm building and Bakugou didn't seem to have mentioned the connection between ‘Midoriya’ and ‘Deku’ to his friends. This meant his day job at the café might still be possible to keep - though there was no doubt the other boy would come back. He just had to be careful not to get caught, luckily that was his specialty.

He should have seen the note he left him by now. Midoriya wished he could have seen his face. He seemed like quite the stubborn type, I doubt he’ll just let me go like that. Things were about to become quite interesting weren't they.

“Just don't give away any leads to this hideout if you get into trouble” Dabi waved him off after studying his face for a moment.

“You trust me that little?” Midoriya put an offended hand on his chest pretending to be hurt.

“Well you aren't a part of the LOV are you?”, Dabi pointed out. “We don't have your loyalty which means we don't really have anything but your word”.

“And that I intend to keep”, Midoriya made a mocking bow and when Dabi with rolling eyes returned to the movie as the now sole watcher Midoriya went to his room.

He threw a quick glance at the bathroom but decided to ignore brushing his teeth for tonight. He just wanted to go to bed, but when he took off his shirt and threw it on the floor his eyes got caught on the computer. It wasn't really necessary, he had mostly just been playing around after all… but…

He sat down in the spinny-chair and used the desk to drag himself closer to it. He then entered the password and as the screen loaded he dragged a hand through his green hair. After all, what was he doing? He had just been a random little hero - no not even a hero yet - so why did he not seem to quite leave Midoriya's thoughts? He had been no one! Just another random to play with. Midoriya had done this before. Messing around with cops and even heroes who tried to take up the chase, always making sure to just barely slip out of their grip to frustrate them. Eventually they all either gave up or he got bored and left them behind. Why did this loud rudely-mouthed teenager catch his attention so? Was it just because they were the same age?

Midoriya was still trying to convince himself that this was all just stupid as he hacked into UA:s system to scroll through the student list until he found who he was looking for.

“Let's see…” He clicked on the name. “Bakugou Katsuki… 17 years old so he really was my age I guess… Both parents intact, congratulations…”

He kept digging into the personal information file of Bakugou Katsuki. Seems he was even more fiery when he was younger, Midoriya noted when he saw the records of performance in class. Then he saw the medical record and his brows furrowed. How does a first-year hero-in-training manage to end up in the infirmary so often?

Strong quirk and good combat skills… Well Midoriya had already learnt that first hand.

“Ironic his quirk is about explosions considering his temper” he mumbled when he read the description. “If he activates his quirk by detonating his sweat I wonder what would happen if you held a match too close after he's done a heavy gym session”

Midoriya leaned back in the chair and stared up into the ceiling. He couldn't deny his strange feelings of curiosity towards Bakugou any more than he could figure out the reason for them. He sighed and buried his face in his hands. Then a smile crept onto his lips. "You've gained my attention Bakugou Katsuki. Let's see how long you can keep it"
