We're Gonna Be Okay

TK walked into the stark white room, his heart breaking at the sight of his fiance laying in the stupid hospital bed, a bandage plastered on his cheek and forehead. Sure he was awake, but he had been hurt majorly - broken ribs, graze wounds from bullets, a fractured leg, and a broken arm. TK didn't know the full story on how it happened, but he didn't want to know. At the moment, Carlos was being checked on by a nurse so he leaned against the wall and waited. Only a few seconds went by before his presence was noticed by Carlos.

"Hi," Carlos greeted, pulling a small smile on his face. The nurse moved to his other side, giving the two a better view of each other.

"Hey. How're you doing?" TK said. He watched as the nurse left the room - finally - and shut the door behind her.

"Eh," Carlos said and motioned for TK to come closer. "I've definitely been better," TK pulled an uncomfortable chair from the corner and set it next to the bed, taking a seat in it. TK gave Carlos a countering look. "Seriously, I'm okay," he said, moving his better hand to TK's. "Promise."

"I thought we agreed on no more hospital stays, baby." TK moved his hand to Carlos' uninjured cheek, cupping it. "I was so scared." TK decided he wanted to know how his wonderful man got like this. "What happened?" TK left a lingering kiss on the others' lips.

"Armed robbery is what caused the bullet wounds, the culprits rammed into my cruiser, and that's where the rest came from." Carlos leaned into TK's hand and closed his eyes. "I'm so tired,"

TK began running his thumb over Carlos' cheekbone. "Sleep, my love. I'll try to be here when you wake up,"

Knowing he was safe, Carlos let the urge fall over him, slipping into a deep rest.

~~~~~~
TK was indeed still there when Carlos woke up, he was asleep on the sofa a few feet away from his bed. It was dark out now, the moon shining brightly behind a thin cloud. Carlos had always liked clouds. He liked the way they took different shapes and how they eventually moved on. He liked the look of them, soft looking, bright and fluffy. He also loved the rain clouds, how they were more droopy than the regular cloud, how they promised a Texas storm or shower. Either way, each cloud was unique and beautiful. TK was a lot like the clouds, he decided. Unique. Beautiful. Said man stirred, the couch creaking slightly under him.
There was a soft knock on the door; it opened, revealing a male nurse. "Hello, Mr. Reyes. I'm going to check on you." Carlos nodded, reluctantly taking his eyes off TK. The nurse checked his stats. "Alright, looks like everything is good," he paused, looking at Carlos. "internally." Carlos let out a soft laugh, not wanting to wake the perfect man across from him. Carlos looks at the name tag attached to the dark purple scrubs. It reads: Liam Hansley. "I will be right back with your breakfast,"
"Okay," Carlos acknowledged, turning his attention back toward TK. His chest was falling peacefully and his hair was spread across his forehead. For some reason, Carlos couldn't figure why, TK was sleeping without a blanket. TK is one of the people who are always cold. As if on cue, TK slowly awoke, grimacing at the fluorescent lights. Carlos smiled. "Good morning," he said; TK groaned but smiled sleepily at the man. He got up and walked over to Carlos.
"Good morning, baby," TK replied, placing his lips on Carlos'. It was that moment that Liam came back, pushed the door open with the tray of food Carlos was promised. TK sighed and pulled away, his hands working through the others' curls. Liam put the tray on the overbed table.
"Good news! I talked to the doctor and he said that if everything goes well, you can leave in two to three days!" Carlos smiled and leaned his head back, pleasured by TK playing with his hair.
"Great. 'Cause I fucking hate hospitals," Carlos said, earning a small chuckle from the two other men.
TK kissed Carlos' bandaged forehead, smiling softly. "I think we'll be okay. Let's aim for no more unnecessary trips here, yeah?" TK said. Carlos nodded, his smile widening.
We're gonna be okay.
