It was just supposed to be a simple mission. Get in, get out. It was just Tony and Peter and there was no need for the rest of the avengers, according to the reports they'd been sent before they had set out to get the job done. What was supposed to be simple had gone so wrong, so quickly.
Tony and Peter had been cautiously making their way through the HYDRA bases corridors, encountering guards in pairs and the odd scientist trying to escape when they had heard Spider-Man and Iron-Man had caught wind of the base and were there to put an end to it. But it was strange. There was no big résistance or sirens to give away their location or anything. It was eerily quiet.
The pair made their way into a big, circular room with a conference table towards the back and no windows. The bright lights of the room turned on with motion sensing detectors and suddenly they were surrounded 20 to 1 by guards and agents. "So guys, what do you all do for fun around here?" Peter quipped nervously, getting into a fighting stance as Tony did the same as they stood back to back, each of them facing opposite. Gunfire rang out and Peter and Tony leapt into action, striking out with Peter trying not to kill anybody and Tony trying to keep himself and Peter alive, whatever about anyone else. Agents wouldn't stop filing in and Tony had gotten himself pinned to the ground by a bunch of guys in bulletproof vests and armour. Peter came in swinging, fighting with fervour and in no time Tony was on his feet again and they were back in their original position but no better off. There only chance was to run with their comms having been disabled by whatever transmitors the base had and to hope a blindspot would turn up. They both went for it, flying and swinging over men respectively until they were out of the room and sprinting away, shots rang out continuously until they were out of sight and a man hunt was to begin immediately after the two heroes.
Peter and Tony ran for their lives, not stopping until they had reached forested, covered ground. They stopped suddenly, Peter hunching over with his hands on his knees. "Alright, kid?" Tony asked panting. He wasn't as young as he used to be, that was for sure. Peter had moved his hands up to his hips but was still hunched over, catching his breath. Weird. "Yeah, just-" as he pulled his hand away there was a sticky substance on it. Blood was gushing from a wound in his stomach, how hadn't he noticed it before now?? "Oh god, Peter." Tony said crouching down and immediately putting severe, hurtful pressure on the gunshot. There was no exit wound, he could be bleeding internally or anything. Peter had grown very pale and was breathing even heavier now. They'd been running for a while. While enough to bleed out and have enough of an adrenaline rush to not notice a gun wound to the stomach. He collapsed to the ground and groaned in agony, Tony trying to reach for it again. Their comms had come back online as they ran, but they'd had no time whatsoever to contact anyone as they had been tailed for what had seemed like hours, having to cut through streams and mud to lose them. Peter eyes were fluttering shut and time was of the essence. Tony talked to FRIDAY, trying to get her online but they were in the middle of a forest, not a city with signal. What was he gonna do?
