Kid Enid (Fluff+Angst)
"Okay everyone! Grab any partner and let's begin creating a potion out of these beautiful plants," Thornhill exclaimed excitedly.
Xavier raised his hand up and asked, "What kind of potion are we making exactly?"
"Were you not paying attention Thorpe? She mentioned it a minute ago," Wednesday remarked as a few people including Enid chuckled at the artist.
"Thank you Wednesday. We'll be building a potion that makes you look two years younger," Miss Thornhill repeated.
"Why two years specifically?" Xavier interrogated the botanical science teacher.
"Because we cannot go anymore than two years here in this classroom. Principal Weems made the rule. If you have any concerns about it, I recommend telling her about it. Now, any other questions before we move on to the real experiment?" Thornhill asked her students while her eyes searched around the room for any raised hands.
"Great! I will be handing out a piece of paper with step by step directions to make the potion. I am also going to pass out the items you need. As you read and go through the process of the assignment, don't be afraid to ask questions. Is that clear?" The science teacher began giving out paper and equipment for the project.
A few nods and yes from the students were heard by Miss Thornhill. It was enough for the woman to acknowledge that her students knew what they were doing.
"You may begin. Do not hesitate to ask questions about the instructions."
Everyone had gotten up from their seats and began searching for a partner to pair with. Wednesday stayed put in her chair, not wanting to waste energy to look for a peer to work together. She felt better off without having anyone to help do the assignment. Though, there was somebody else who wanted to complete the experiment with the raven.
"Hey Wednesday! Wanna be partners?" Enid went between Wednesday and Xavier, who was also in his seat.
"I thought Yoko would be your partner," Wednesday nonchalantly pointed out.
"Not this time. She wants to be with Divina just to fool around with her. I didn't mind because I have you to choose now," Sinclair grinned.
"Good because I no longer want to be paired with Xavier," the psychic commented.
"What?! But I'm a good person to be partnered with," Xavier pouted.
"Not anymore. Give up your seat for Enid. I want to get this experiment finished and pushed aside," Wednesday glared at the boy.
Xavier groaned in irritation before leaving his chair. He went to find somebody else that needed a partner as Enid took his seat without question. Right as the werewolf plopped down, Thornhill came to their table and placed a few tools along some petals from the plants.
"Here's your orchid, gloxinia, and ashitaba. In case you need extras, they'll be over by my table," the normie teacher provided the girls with the materials on the counter.
"Thanks Miss Thornhill," Enid thanked her teacher.
"No problem. Have fun ladies," Thornhill gave them a smile before returning to her desk.
"Okay. What's the first step?" Enid flicked her eyes to Wednesday who didn't bother to read the directions.
"It's simple. Considering the petals are dried, we must make all three of them into powder with the small and smooth rock we have. Then we mix them altogether while applying a quarter milliliter of almond oil and one milliliter of clary sage essential oil."
"You sure?" The lycanthrope didn't know whether to go along with Wednesday's words.
"Are you doubting me?" The Addams furrowed her brows.
"Nope! I just wanted to know if you understood what we have to do."
"I'll have you know my mother had this class. I read her notes and memorized it like the back of my hand," Wednesday added.
"No wonder you're super smart. I can one-hundred percent trust you on this assignment," the bubbly blonde grabbed all three of the dried flower petals and crushed them into pieces.
While doing her part, the emotionless girl took the glass dropper and dipped it into the almond oil that is in a glass container. She squeezed the suction bulb, causing the tool to take in the substance. Wednesday extracted most of the liquid to only have a quarter of a milliliter. Enid had eventually created the petals into powder before putting them in a graduated cylinder.
Wednesday then took the dropper and squeezed out each fluid into the cylinder while the werewolf mixed it with bamboo skewer stick. Fortunately, the powder dissolved and changed colors which brought Enid to gasp in surprise. Wednesday didn't bother to glance at the man made potion. Instead, she analyzed Enid carefully.
The way she lifted her eyebrows when she's eager over nonsense. When Enid smiles all the time, it makes the short girl feel stupidly weird. Even staring at the blonde had Wednesday's ears block out all of the noises around her. Addams didn't know what was going on or why her roommate had this effect on her.
It was like she was hallucinating. Though, the hallucination turned into reality when her eyes caught Enid tilting the graduated cylinder towards her mouth.
"Enid, don't!"
Too late. About five drops of the potions fell into her partner's mouth. This made Wednesday slap her face mentally.
"I'm trying to see if we did it right. Am I getting any younger?" Sinclair pointed at her face.
"No, however your brain is getting older since you lost all common sense. If we fail this assignment because of you, you'll never see daylight again," Wednesday frowned at the blonde.
"I'll just tell Thornhill what I did and that you warned me not to do it beforehand. Also, why is my uniform fitting loosely on me?" Enid tugged on her clothing.
"Did you wear somebody else's uniform?" The raven raised a brow in speculation.
"No. This is the one I always wear for school," Enid's voice changed as her body slowly shrunk.
"Enid. You're shrinking and sound more like a child."
"What?!" Enid squeaked as the clothes soon were too large for her puny body.
The sleeves of her uniform and pants turned long and oversized for Enid to wear. Students in the classroom noticed what was going on and whispered instinctively to each other about the lycan's misfortune. They even surrounded her in a circle. Quickly, Thornhill caught on what was happening and found one of her students turned into a child.
"What happened here?" The botanical teacher squeezed through the crowd.
"Am I in trouble? I promise it won't happen again," the child-like Enid told Thornhill right before her eyes turned glossy.
Sinclair's friends were in awe when they heard Enid's voice sound adorable.
Thornhill crouched down to match the little girl's height and stated, "You're not in trouble Enid. It seems to me you tasted a little too much of the potion when you are not supposed to. But don't worry. It only made you into a kid. The effects will wear off in a bit. This happened to a student before with a different teacher. Wednesday, please carry Enid back to the dorm. We'll discuss the situation tomorrow. Everybody else, back to work!"
Everyone in the class scattered back to their labs and began working, leaving Wednesday and Enid to handle their own issue. The psychic pinched the bridge of her nose, feeling irritated already.
"You are going to regret the actions you made Sinclair," Wednesday said furiously to the child.
"Sorry..." Enid hangs her head low in shame.
Wednesday scoffed before putting both arms around her young roommate and carried her in disgust. Addams did her best to lean away from Enid as she brought her to their dorm room. There, Thing was startled to find what he saw.
What happened to Enid!? The hand freaked out.
"Her stupidity got the best of her. She drank a potion that we made in Thornhill's classroom that makes people look two years younger. Apparently, the more Enid drank, the younger she got. I'm appalled that her height has shrunk. I find it amusing actually," Wednesday smirked for a quick moment.
"Hey Wednesday! Can I play with your typewriter? It looks so cool," Enid's eyes sparkled in interest.
"No you cannot. Why don't you play with your stuffed animals like the child you are?" The raven crossed her arms and sternly looked at the blonde.
"I don't want to. I'll be careful, I promise," little Sinclair declared before running off to Wednesday's side of the room.
"This is why I never want to have children," Wednesday muttered to Thing.
Enid is super cute. I like her as a child. Don't you just wanna pinch her cheeks?
"Not at all. She makes me want to jump off the balcony," the stubborn teen snapped.
She went over to her side of the room to pull Enid away from her typewriter as the youth was pushing buttons on the equipment. Right as the child turned around to tell her roommate something, her arm knocked over a glass jar filled with pencils and pens. It landed on the floorboard, shattering with shards of glass scattering below Wednesday's desk.
On cue, the small girl had tears welling up in her eyes. That's when the salty tears rolled down onto her cheek and began sobbing loud. The psychic was about to approach the distressed lycan when a statement made her stop in her tracks.
"Please don't hit me! I won't do it again," the small werewolf raised her hands in defense, covering her face as she continued crying.
It brought confusion to the Addams. Why would Wednesday hit her? She didn't consider herself to be that violent unless if it was the form of torture. Of course, she wouldn't torture or even hit little Enid. Somehow, the way Enid showed a sign of fear made Wednesday's stomach churn. The way she reacted wasn't normal. Wednesday slowly stepped closer to the girl before squatting down to Enid's level.
"What makes you think I would hit you?" The raven softly asked the youngster.
"B-because my mom used to do it to m-me. I would get in a lot of t-trouble if I broke anything," Sinclair answered as she rubbed her tears away.
"I wouldn't dare lay a hand on you Enid. What your mother did is vile of her. She shouldn't even be allowed to be called a mother. I promise I will make sure she doesn't hurt you ever again," Wednesday placed a hand on Enid's shoulder to comfort her.
"You really mean it?" Tears were no longer sliding from Enid's eyes.
All Wednesday could do was nod. For that, the lycanthrope was back to grinning. She jumped out of the desk chair before tossing both arms around Wednesday. Addams did not expect the embrace but felt completed thanks to her roommate. Rather than leaving her arms to the side, she too put her arms around Enid as well. She wished she had taken the bubbly girl's hugs sooner, though this one felt perfect.
Ten seconds into the hug, Wednesday noticed Enid was growing bigger during the embrace. She let go and took a few steps back to find the werewolf fitting into her clothes, going back to normal. With the smile still on her face, she gazed at Wednesday.
"Thanks Wednesday. I owe you big time. And don't worry. I won't tell anyone about our sweet moment," Enid beamed brightly.
"Good. Also, I really meant what I said. I'll keep you safe from your mother," Wednesday turned away as she didn't want to face her roommate.
"That means a lot to me. You're the best."
"Anything for an acquaintance of mine."
