Short n' Sweet
The hot summer air wrapped around Licorice's body. Ever since redemption she had come to appreciate the warm imbrace of light. She was finally at peace, able to imbrace her identity as a woman, no longer afraid of ridicule. The soft patter of footsteps caused her ears to twitch. "The sunset is beautiful today, huh?" Almond sipped his coffee letting out a deep sigh. "It's.. nice." Licorice smiled. "Honestly, I don't understand how you can drink that stuff right now. It's so hot today." Licorice playfully whined, dramatically leaning into her husband's legs as he stood next to her. "That's why I brought you lemonade." He sat down next to her, handing her an iced glass. "With mint, just how you like it." Licorice swiftly took the glass "You're a Saint!" She happily drank the cool beverage. "I love you, Licorice." Almond smiled softly at the love of his life, the sunset illuminating her face with gentle orange light. "I love you too, Almond." As the street lights flicked on, and the remaining bits of sunlight slowly tucked under the horizon, The two love birds shared a passionate kiss. The singing of cicadas cheering as the night began to overtake the sky.
