Tony isn't Peter's father figure--Tony is a deadbeat dad

I saw the examples in this online--it’s a really accurate parallel.

It was Harley who sat Peter down and explained it to him.

How Harley had found out about Peter’s situation was a mystery, but the guy was definitely familiar with how Stark operated. His story sounded a lot like Peter’s--get used, get given a piece of shiny stuff, get dumped.

Harley took a sip of his soda as he said, “I’m kind of ashamed I didn’t realize at first how Stark was like my deadbeat dad--to 3000. Same as Stark was with you. Like, him telling your Aunt May about your ‘company retreat’ is like when a deadbeat dad tells the mom they’re gonna have father-son time. But it's really just taking you to poker night where he wants you to help him cheat and fetch his beer. And that whole thing about taking away the suit--it’s like ‘my house-my stuff-my rules. Leave if you don’t like it’.”

Peter nodded and sighed. He said, “The worst thing is I fell for it. I ignored all the red flags and the way he dissed my stuff and even the THREATS."

Harley shrugged and said, “Happens to the best of us. The deadbeat dad will be all over you when he needs something or has to get one over on somebody.”

Peter nodded and said, “Yeah, I really was a kid then. But then I HEARD the way he talked to me after the ferry. And I find out how he’s TRACKING me...”

The other boy said, “Oh yeah. The ‘I’m violating your privacy for you own good’ or ‘how can I trust you when you behave like this’.”

Peter said, “Or ‘If something happens to you it will be bad for me’. Like, really? I think it would be worse for ME.”

He shook his head and said, “I don’t know...I feel like I’m not even sure Stark’s even a hero, you know?”

He looked at Harley and said, “But I AM glad I met you.”

Peter grinned and said, “The secret kid the deadbeat dad has stashed in another state.”

Harley laughed and held up his glass of soda, “So let’s drink a toast--to ditching the deadbeat dad and appreciating our kick-ass moms.”

Peter clinked glasses and thought it was time to talk to Aunt May about Spider-Man.

And block Stark’s number. He was done with Iron Jackass for good.
