Tony is a professional victim
This is an interesting theory, because it really reflects how prop-Tony writers portray him. As the original commenter said, in prop-Tony stories, nothing is ever Tony's fault. Everyone is against him, anything terrible he does is because Howard didn't love him enough and he misses Maria. He can't be held responsible for anything despite being 50 years old. It's true that since Iron Man 1, Tony isn't held accountable and doesn't take responsibility for his actions. What if someone wasn't convinced by his BS?
Note: Set after Endgame.

Tony didn't quite understand what was going on. He closed his eyes after snapping and...dying. Now he was standing in a courtroom. A door behind the judge's bench opened and a COS-player in a Grim Reaper outfit walked in and sat in the judge's chair.
Tony crossed his arms and said, "Hey, Skeletor--where is this place and how do I hitch a ride home?"
Grimmy said, "Anthony Edwards Stark. Iron Man. You do not seem to recognize the gravity of your current circumstances. I suggest you pay attention. It's a matter of life...and Death."
Tony shivered in his armor despite the fact that it had a heating system. He asked, "What the hell's going on?"
Death said, "A reckoning. I will assess the good and bad of your life to see where the scale falls."
A large stack of papers appeared in Death's bony hands. They looked down and said, "War profiteer. Seventeen years of unconcern for anything but profit and parties."
Tony said, "It's not my fault! My dad--he, he's the one who brought in Stane! How was I supposed to know what was going on?"
Death didn't have an eyebrow, but somehow they raised an eyebrow and said, "You are claiming you are not responsible for your deliberate ignorance? For 17 years? While you used your artificial intelligence to order your coffee? Denied. Point against."
Death looked at the next item and said, "Early actions as Iron Man saved lives. Point in favor."
Death continued, "Next count--firing weapons into a crowded room of innocent civilians."
Tony said, "That's not my fault! The palladium was poisoning me."
Death replied, "Are you suggesting that choosing to hide your illness rather than ask for help, then getting drunk, donning the Iron Man suit, and using your weapons without caring who might be hurt is NOT your responsibility? Who else should be held accountable for YOUR reckless actions? Denied--point against."
Tony clenched his fists.
Death said, "Next--Chitauri invasion. Lives saved and crisis prevented. Truly heroic act of flying the nuclear missile into the wormhole. Points in favor."
Tony crossed his arms and said, "I should hope so."
Death said, "Endangering Pepper Potts by having your automated system point a weapon at her, then revealing her location and taunting violent criminals to attack the home she shared with you."
Tony said, "That's not my fault! I was suffering from PTSD."
Death looked up and said, "The record shows that you were aware of your condition. And that you neither sought professional help, removed your access to your weapons, nor added safety measures that would prevent you from endangering others. Denied. Points against."
Tony frowned.
Death said, "Next is using the scepter to upload your Ultron program without revealing your true intentions."
Tony said, "It's not my fault! That witch, she gave me--she made me do it! I was being brainwashed."
Death sighed and said, "I can run footage if you like. Neither twin was aware of your artificial intelligence program, nor how to use the scepter to upload it. No one compelled you to do anything with the scepter. Especially lying to your teammate's face in order to gain access to it. Denied--points against."
With a rustle of pages, Death leaned back and said, "Ah, the Sokovia Accords and all of the activities surrounding them. Wait--don't tell me--it's not your fault."
Tony said, "Exactly! We needed to be put in check! They wouldn't LISTEN! I tried and tried to compromise, but NOBODY listened!"
Death stared a moment, then said, "Seriously? I've got the footage right here. Recordings of everything you said AND did. Can you tell me one compromise you offered that wasn't a lie? Explain why you exploited a child and lied to his aunt? And as for not listening--it's YOU who ended each conversation, in the compound, at the airport, and even in the bunker. And speaking of the bunker..."
Tony said, "That's not my fault! I was upset!"
Death shrugged and said, "You were also aware that you were attacking a brainwashed POW, and you KEPT attacking him. Are you really trying to excuse seeing a one-armed, half-dead man laying on the ground and kicking him in the head? Denied--points against."
Tony started pacing as he said, "I can't believe you're blaming ME! It's not my fault! My dad, he--he never loved me. And my mom--she sent me off to boarding school. I'm a deprived child!"
Death said, "Now you're just embarrassing yourself."
Death looked down at the papers and said, "Even without listing the remaining incidents, I think we can finish this up now. Because even if you ignore the colossal stupidity of your actions with the Time Stone, nothing you did can balance against the trillions of people suffering because of your extortion about how to undo the snap."
Death waved a hand and asked, "Any final words?"
Tony said, "It's not my fault! None of it. It's NEVER my fault!"
Death shook their head and said, "Keep telling yourself that. It's not true, but it may help you deal with what's to come."
As Death raised the gavel and banged it, everything went black.
