"Prepare the captain for his ... Surgery." Shmidt told one of the soldiers waiting.
"Surgery?" Bucky asked, alarmed.
"Oh yes, you're free to go, but your captain will be our new toy."
"No!" Bucky tore away. "Don't touch him! We had a deal!"
Immediately, he was restrained by two soldiers.
"Think about it. He won't remember you love him, so you won't have to worry about that anymore... Or we could make him obey everything you say, winter. He'd be yours."
Bucky was shaking, he could have Steve. Beautiful, perfect Steve... But it wouldn't be his darling Steve if he was nothing more than a toy awaiting orders.
Steve loving him back was all he ever wanted,and he wanted all of Steve. Stubborn as heck, but the sweetest person Bucky had ever had the pleasure to know.
"No, not like this. I want him to actually, consciously choose for me."
"Very well." Shmidt signed some soldiers, who appeared with Steve.
"Did you want to say a goodbye?"
Steve was trying to get away from the arms holding him. Bucky could see that. But they had some kind of cuffs that held winter. They would hold Steve for a little while longer. Bucky prayed he'd escape.
"Please just take me instead of him."Bucky whispered again, he had to try, they had to approve the switch. He was practically begging them. He knew they loved that.
"No , Bucky I won't let them hurt you again." Steve growled. "especially now I know..."
Bucky's head snapped towards Steve.
"Now you know what? That I'm a fairy?" Bucky almost spat the words."you tryna protect me, Rogers?"
He saw the heat rising in those eyes, and he just knew Steve was about to erupt.
"Could you shut up and let me tell you I love you?!" Steve roared, and that got Bucky silent and wide eyed.
Shmidt looked delighted with the turn of events.
"Ah , how bittersweet this is." He said, signing to take a fighting Steve away before turning to Bucky.
"Well, at least you know he loves you back now." He shrugged. "escort sergeant Barnes to the door, please."
"No!" Bucky struggled to get free from the arms holding him. "you have to let Steve go and take me instead. I already have the programming. Please..."
Bucky was close to sobbing when they threw him out in the snow. Steve loved him, he'd wasted so much time that could have been spent loving on that punk.
"Let me back in!" His metal fist rammed the door."fucking bastards."
He kept pounding that door, until his shaking knees gave in and he couldn't do any more than curl up in the snow and sob. They were probably brainwashing Steve right now, making sure to erase every memory they had together from his mind.
"Hey." A voice came."need some help with that door?"
Bucky had never been so happy to see Stark.
"Please, oh please. We need to save him, Stark. They're gonna make him a winter soldier."
"Copy that. Get out of the way, frozen."
Bucky let the nickname slide this once and rolled out of the way, there was a sort of explosion and stark landed.
"Let's go get your boy toy."
