~Hunting~
‘Yay~! This makes a baker’s dozen.’ Kayo yipped happily as she put something into a woven basket with a small lid on top. Her 3 tails wagging behind her happily carrying it rather than putting it away. Proudly walking away from one of the huts not used for housing. A few holes and smelly odors had caught the little kitsune’s attention enough to keep watch over it. Giving a small yawn, only a few goblins were up at the early hour with the sun peeking over the trees of the Great Jura Forest. Kayo’s dark fur made her blend in with the shadows as she went undisturbed as she headed to the assembly building with her spoils. Spotting a familiar pink form about to enter the building for the morning report in.
“Morning Shuna~!” Kayo called out happily as the kijin princess turned to smile at the little kitsune leader after spotting her and the basket she was carrying. “Good morning, Lord Kayo. What do you have there?” Shuna asked, curious about what was in the basket and why the kitsune was just carrying it.
“Oh! It’s my catch of the night! I wanna show it to Rigurd before the morning meeting.” the kitsune yipped and Shuna smiled at her excitement. “Alright, I do hope you have been getting some rest Lord Kayo. Breakfast will be ready after the meeting as well.” she told the little kitsune and opened the door for her letting her slip in. The goblin king, Rigurd was already preparing for the morning meeting to assign tasks and address any concerns. Shion was inside as well, happily carrying a comatose Rimuru in her arms. Shuna shot the kijin woman a small glare only to get a knowing smirk as Shion held the slime closer.
“Mornin’ Rigurd! I got a lot of em last night!” Kayo called out happily as she easily jumped up onto the table with her basket, scampering up to the muscular goblin who gave a soft smile. “Ah~. Thank you so much Lord Kayo. Your work is Truely invaluable.” he praised the kit, puffing out her chest with pride as she waged her tails, the goblin started to pet her head gently as a ‘reward’ for her work.
Kayo giggled happily as Shion looked at the basket the kitsune had brought, lifting the lid in curiosity.
“Lord Kayo, what’s in- AHHHH!” the kijin woman asked, only for her and Shuna to scream in shock when several mice jumped out of the basket and tried to run away. The kitsune’s attention zooned in on the 13 mice that scurried around the meeting room trying to escape their doom.
“Oi! Get back here!” Kayo growled as she chased the frightened mice around the room, not caring if she crashed into some furniture in her attempt to re capture all the mice, only this time they would not be able to escape. The three watched as a black blur ran about the room, several crunches following the appearance of dead mice piled on the table. A few chairs did get knocked over by the kit running around, hyper forced on capturing the escaped mice. Shuna and Shion looked on in shock while Rigurd gave an amused chuckle at the speed of the little kitsune.
“Shuna! Are you O-AGH!!” Benimaru entered quickly through the double doors, only to get run over by the black blur as it chased the final mouse.
“W-what? What was that!?” the kijin asked, shocked as he lay on the ground after throwing the doors open in his haste, slowly getting up with some minor soreness to his chest after getting the wind knocked out of him. “That would be Lord Kayo, they brought in some intruders that had infiltrated our food storage.” Rigurd explained, a little amused as he gestured to the pile of dead mice on the table. Picking up the toppled chairs, Shion and Shuna stared in disgust and amazement at the rodent pile.
“Are those... mice ? Why is Lord Kayo chasing mice?” The crimson kijin questioned, confused as he looked at the pile in disgust, a few of them having been mangled while trying to escape, blood slowly staining the table where they lay. “Why would they chase something so... weak ?” he questioned confused, the goblin chuckled at the young kijin prince, who wasn’t as experienced with running a village like the Elder Goblin. “They may be weak Lord Benimaru, but these intruders have been helping themselves to our food supplies. Lord Kayo has been making sure they stop, so that our food is kept safe and plentiful. It is a small job but a very important one.” The goblin explained, smiling when Souei and Hakuro arrived.
The blue kijin carrying the happy little kitsune by the scruff, while she held the last mouse in her muzzle. Her giggling caught the room’s attention along with a strange slurping noise that made the younger kijins turn a little pale at seeing the mouse shrivel up.
“Hmm~ I got the last one Rigurd!” Kayo chimed happily, dropping the bloodless mouse on the table proudly, some of her white fur stained with blood from her speedy hunt. Souei set her down before she shifted back into her humanoid form. Shuna looked horrified, quickly coming to the little kitsune’s side with a handkerchief to wipe up the blood that was still on her mouth and chin.
“Lord Kayo, there is blood all over your face! P-please take care not to get any more on you today.” she nervously asked, kitsune leader who looked at her confused for a moment, letting Shuna wipe up the spilled blood and stain the pink handkerchief. “But they’re tasty~ I was gonna share it with some friends too, but they like theirs's alive.” Kayo pouted, thinking of the non-monstruous snakes she had found, and had a little ‘chat’ with them about coming near her village. A few did stick around and made a deal with the little kitsune for their venom... and their lives of course.
“I’m sure you can catch some more Lord Kayo. You were rather fast and even toppled over Lord Benimaru in your haste.” Rigurd mussed as the kijin glared at the started kitsune who looked surprised. “I did what!?” she asked, only recalling a few blurs as she felt her head throb a little from where she ran into some furniture.
“You didn’t realize it?” The kijin asked, annoyed by the kitsune’s actions before he saw their ears lay flat on their head. “No. I’m sorry.” Kayo apologized, knowing it was the best she could do for now while she mentally scolded herself. Picking up the dead mice to put them into the empty basket before grabbing the last one and biting into it to get at its insides. The reincarnated kitsune enjoying the still warm blood that gushed into her mouth with some sadistic glee, reminded of the times she hunted with her kitsune father.
“ L-Lord Kayo !” Shuna and Shion called out in shock and horror as they watched the kitsune chew on the dead mouse like it was a snack. Kayo looked at them a bit started and confused, tilting her head before taking the mouse out of her mouth, crewing on its insides made the young Kijins shiver in disgust as her lips were strained with blood again.
“H-how about I get the snacks I prepared. I’m sure they will taste better then... these , Lord Kayo.” Shuna suggested to the young leader who opened her bloody mouth to say something but closed it with a childish pout. “Okay.” she huffed, and Shuna sighed in relief as Rigurd took the basket and the half-eaten mouse from the kitsune to be disposed of. ‘Danm it. I forgot it’s not normal to snack on rodents. I can’t believe I did it in front of Benimaru!’ Kayo thought in a mild panic, trying to maintain the childish pout to hide her shame.
Romantic Compatibility with Benimaru:
‘NOT THE TIME EROS!’ Kayo thought in a panic as she slammed her head on the table with a rather loud bang, getting worried looks from the kijin. Only there was now a noticeable crack in the table while the kitsune leader looked unfazed despite the red mark on her forehead.
“Alright. Let’s get this meeting over with.” Kayo suggested before Shuna came back with the snacks that instantly caught the kit’s attention. ‘Are those... potato chips!?’ she questioned but eagerly tried the familiar snack that was lightly salted after being fried. ‘Meh, the mice where better.’ she thought in mild amusement before focusing on the meeting for the day's tasks... and the chips.
~Nap Time~
“Agh!” Gobtia and the other goblins cried out as they were all thrown to the ground by the elderly Kijin who glanced at the furry figures laying in the shade of a tree. Kayo was sleeping soundly, curled up against a tempest wolf who had the honor of guarding the little kitsune during her afternoon nap. The young kitsune had a bad habit of falling asleep around this time without fail. While Rigurd excused it as the kitsune still being young, very few knew that the kitsune stayed up all night training with a spy master from Dwargon.
Even fewer knew of the nightmares that kept the reincarnation from sleeping at night, thus her body was forced to take a nap during the day.
Hakuro looked over in disapproval of his sleeping student, walking over to them while they snuggled into the wolf’s fur sleepily, muttering something in their sleep. “Lord Kayo, I believe it’s time for your training.” he voiced with some of his aura leaking out, of course it scared the kitsune awake as she sat up quickly, her ears standing up in shock. “I’m up!” Kayo quickly yelled but then closed her eyes before they snapped open again, dodging the sheathed weapon of the old Kijin, giving her a kind looking smile.
“Seems your able to sense danger very well Lord Kayo, but-” Hakruo was saying before he noticed the little kitsune’s eyes were falling closed again. Striking with his sheath sword, the kit dogged it again quickly.
“I’m awake! Danm it!” Kayo yelled, growling a little in irritation at being woken up again.
“Language.” Hakuro scolded, looking at the young kitsune who seemed to hold back a response as she just groaned tiredly. Dressed in some loose-fitting dark blue pants that stopped just below her knees, a black snakeskin belt holding the pants up with only a single tail out. A black tunic made up of her fur was half tucked into the pants, exposing a leather pouch that was attached to her belt that held a few small items. Her feet lacking any shoes, the standard boots were too uncomfortable for the shapeshifter. Her feet got dirty very easily with how much she walked in and around the village.
“Man, I miss coffee.” Kayo grumbled as she tried not to fall asleep again, closing her eyes before they popped back open again to avoid the strike from the unamused Kijin master, who noticed the dark bags under her eyes that he had confused for markings. “Lord Kayo, I understand you have been busy filling in for Lord Rimuru. However, that is not an excuse to neglect your training.” he scolded the young leader who gave a small laugh, tiredly. “ That’s what she said~ .” the kitsune mused, thinking of her eleven teacher who had told her the same thing just last other night.
“ She ?” Hakuro questioned, confused on who the kitsune was referring to, only to watch as the kitsune leader fell to the ground face first, her butt in the air as she was back asleep. “Lord Kayo.” Hakuro called her name, raising his sheathed sword to attack again only for the goblins he had been training to step between him and the sleeping kitsune.
“Wait! Master Hakuro. Please Let Lord Kayo sleep.” Gobtia asked as he and the others stood between him and the sword master, making him pause for a moment. Slightly impressed, the goblins had gotten back up and were quick to come to the kitsune’s aid. He could also see that they were not going to let the kijin disturb their lord’s sleep again.
“Hmm. Very well... now that you are all rested. Let's continue our training while Lord Kayo sleeps.” he told them, and to their credit the goblins didn’t argue and continued their ‘training’.
~Apple Pie~
“Where is he?” Benimaru questioned with annoyance, walking in the forest that was just a bit further away from the Goblin village he that his surviving kin had taken refuge in. Shuna having tasked him with watching over the Kitsune Lord, only to find that the friendly fox had grabbed a large basket and disappeared into the forest without a word to anyone else. “That danmed fox. What is it thinking leaving the village right now?” He grumbled, frowning at the kitsune’s impulsive and childish actions, with the threat of the Orcs looming over them. It was a wonder the kitsune kept the village running while their bother, Lord Rimuru, recovered from naming the Oni.
It wasn’t long before the crimson kijin found a familiar basket set on the ground, a few boar dear running away at his approach. The animals had been munching on some fallen apples, a soft sweet scent in the air caught Benimaru’s attention.
“Look out bellow~!” came Kayo’s voice before a hail of apples came at the kijin suddenly.
“What the!?” Benimaru was confused but quickly pulled out his sword to slice at the incoming projectiles, letting them fall to the ground before Kayo appeared on the lowest branch of the apple tree with a pout. “Good job but... I was trying to get them in the basket.” the kitsune mentioned pointing to the basket at the kijin’s feet.
Crimson eyes narrowed in displeasure, almost scowling at the kitsune who held back her amusement.
“Chill out. There are still some higher up, should be enough for a few yummy apple pies.” Kayo told him and started to eagerly climb the tree, going up even higher to reach more ripe apples.
“Lord Kayo. Now is not the time to pick apples. For your own safety, return to the village at once.” He spoke to her firmly, but it seemed the kitsune didn’t hear him... or just ignored him. “In coming!” Kayo warned and quickly the kijin stepped out of the way of a water fall of bright red apples, most of them landing inside the basket. However, the kijin did feel something hit his head and something slowly dripping down onto his forehead.
“Cha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Apple Oni !” Kayo started to laugh at the site she saw when coming down. One of the apples she had thrown ended up impaled on Benimaru’s horn. “Lord Kayo.” The kijin narrowed his eyes at the laughing kitsune who slipped off the branch... and for a moment the kijin wanted them to fall to the ground. Only Kayo’s tails held onto the branch and had them hanging upside down as they laughed.
“Relax, will ya? I got enough of them already so we can go back.” Kayo assured him and chuckled as she looked at the bright red apple stuck to the kijin’s horn, not to mention the adorable new expression on his face as he tried to remove the red fruit from his horn.
“Want some help? It was my fault any way.” Kayo suggested, holding out her hands to help the kijin while her 3 tails held the branch that was slowly weakening with her weight. Benimaru glared at the kitsune but walked over to her to allow them to remove the apple. Many Elder Onis had told him that touching an Oni’s horns was very intimate action, the young oni didn’t understand it at the time but having the kitsune's hands some close to his horn, he could feel a strange sensation. Never mind how their hands carefully removed the apple, but then they had pulled out a light blue handkerchief, pressing it to his forehead and horn.
Bneimaru quickly pulled away, startled by the strange sensation that came from where the kitsune had touched him.
“You okay?” Kayo asked, confused by his sudden retreat, holding out the cloth to him. “If you want to clean it yourself, use this.” the kijin was quiet but took the offered cloth and cleaned up the sticky juice that came from the apple. Catching a glance of the kitsune sniffing the impaled apple and taking a bite out of it... all while still hanging upside down.
“Lord Kayo. You shouldn’t eat that.” he scolded the kitsune who just looked at him in confusion.
“Why?” she asked innocently, having found the apple to taste like it had been roasted and coated in cinnamon. “Your upside down as well. Get down form-” he scolded before the branch broke and the kitsune was about to plumped to the ground headfirst. Without thinking the kijin grabbed the falling kitsune and pulled them to his chest to protect them, missing the bright red blush on the little kitsune’s face. ‘WHAT THE HELL!?’ Kayo thought in panic as her face was pressed into the handsome kijin’s chest, where she got a good whiff of his alluring scent. ‘Danm! He smells so good~!’ She thought with a soft sigh before Benimaru pulled her away from his chest, setting her on the ground. Her face still red as he looked at the young kitsune for any injuries.
“Are you alright Lord Kayo?” he asked and the kitsune tried hard to suppress her blush, but her tails were wagging happily in delight. “Y-yeah, I'm fine. Let's head on back, Shuna has been waiting for me to bring back the apples.” she mentioned and could see the kijin’s mood instantly sour.
“Benimaru?” Kayo questioned confused by his expression.
“You were bringing this... for my sister, Lord Kayo?” he asked carefully as the kitsune looked at him in confusion. “Yeah? We’re making apple pies. I got this really good recipe while in Dwargon, and these apples are perfectly sweet for it.” Kayo mussed, excited and drooling a little to taste apple pie again.
“Lord Kayo... please take good care of Shuna.” Benimaru told the confused kitsune seriously, a rather defeated look on his handsome face. “Ah? Sure? I consider her a dear friend. What’s with the long face?” Kayo asked, not realizing what the kijin was thinking as he looked down at her in surprise.
“A... dear friend ?” He repeated, looking a bit shocked and surprised. ‘So cute~!’ Kayo thought, trying not to blush at the rather adorable expression on his face.
“Yeah, Gobtia, Gobzo and the others are dear friends to me to.” she told him and gulped nervously at her next words. “Do you want to... be my friend too?” she asked, her heart pounding in her chest as she waited for his response.
Benimaru was quiet for a moment, a small, relaxed smile growing on his face. “Of course, Lord Kayo. I thank you for this honor.” he responded and the little kitsune couldn’t help but yip happily and tacked the kijin to the ground in her excitement.
“YAY! NEW FRIEND!” she yelled while hugging the confused kijin, who had been surprised again by the strength of the small leader, who was giving off a rather warm feeling before they hopped off the confused kijin, a small blush on his face that disappeared with that strange warm feeling.
“Sorry. Let’s get back to the village. Lunch should be ready soon and it will take a while for the pies to cool. Want to be a taste tester~?” Kayo mussed as she held out her small hand to the kijin who smirked and took her small hand as a gesture of helping him back on his feet. “You still have some apple juice on your head by the way.” Kayo informed him and offered the handkerchief to her new Kijin friend. Benimaru took it and cleaned up the sweet juices, carrying the large basket of apples for the kitsune as they headed back to the village. Kayo softly humming a song about apples, mentally adding Apple Oni to the made-up lyrics.
~Grooming Day~
“Ranga. It’s that time again.” Rimuru spoke to the hiding tempest wolf, the slime sighed and took on his humanoid form as he looked down at his shadow, hands on his hips expecting this reaction from the wolf by now. “Come on. Don't you want to get cleaned and groomed?” He asked but got no response, even though he knew the tempest wolf leader was trying to avoid the mandatory monthly grooming session Kayo had put into place for Ranga and his pack.
“Alright, you want to do it the hard way again?” Rimuru asked, starting to walk out of the assembly building and into the village. The slime leader could see many of the other tempest wolves showing off their freshly groomed coats, made soft and silky by the grooming team. Their claws were temporarily painted a light blue once they had been cleaned and groomed. Only a few other wolves shared Ranga’s dismay of being bathed, brushed, and nails trimmed. While those that willingly accepted their fate formed stranger bonds with their goblin partners and their families.
‘Master... please... may I be excused from grooming? My coat and nails are still in goo-’ Ranga whined pitifully before he yelped in shock as he was thrown out of Rimuru’s shadow and into the air with surprising strength.
“MASTER!” Ranga cried as his paws waved through the air for a moment before a 3-tailed black kitsune popped out of the slime leader’s shadow after him. Grabbing the large wolf by the scruff, keeping him from touching the ground and escaping.
“Whoa! Kayo! Your huge!” Rimuru voiced his shock as he looked at the now bus sized kitsune with the wolf in her mouth, her golden eyes glanced at the slime in annoyance. ‘It’s easier to get Ranga groomed this way.’ She thought with a bit of frustration, Ranga’s tails tucked between his back legs as he looked away shamefully. It had been a long time since he had been picked up like this and then being carried by the young kitsune... it would be so shameful normally.
However, the wolf couldn’t help but be impressed by the little kitsune's current size. Rimuru having gotten on Kayo’s back to be taken to the grooming aera, where some of the goblins and the Kijins were helping with the wolves' monthly grooming.
Of course, the Kijin were shocked at how big the kitsune got before placing Ranga into the large wooden tub they used to clean the wolves. Benimaru having heated up the water the goblins had brought along with the scent nullifying soap that Kayo had made. Souei had also been asked to help clean the wolves and restrain Ranga as needed, it was surprising that the ninja had agreed to it. Rimuru joined them in cleaning up his wolf companion who was not happy with the bath he was being given. He only started to relax a little when Rimuru started to brush out his fur, the slime obtaining lots of loose fur for the dwarf brothers to make more coats and clothes out of.
Kayo had the opposite reaction, having put her turn last to help the others get clean. Many goblinas fought for the honor but in the end ,Shuna and Hanako got to bathe and brush their adorable kitsune leader who gave off cute coos and mews until...
“They're pink~.” Shuna gasped as she looked at Kayo’s paws that were about to be trimmed, gently poking at the soft pink toe beans of the little kitsune presented to her. “Are they?” Kayo asked, confused as she never saw her toe beans, tilting her head in confusion before Hanako poked her back right foot, making the kitsune pull it away out of reflex. “Well, here you have a small black spot. The other 3 are all pink~.” the goblina informed as Kayo took in the curious information before Shuna giggled and carefully started clipping the little kitsune’s nails. Holding her soft pink toe beans, giving them a playful squeeze before going to Kayo’s back legs.
“Lord Kayo? Is something wrong?” Shuna asked, concerned when she saw the kitsune pull her back paws away. “Not really. I just... don’t worry about my back paws. Can you paint my nails now?” the kitsune asked, her 3 tails waging in excitement as she was looking forward to having her nails painted her favorite color, even if it only lasted a day or two.
Shuna giggled and got the small brush they used to paint the wolves' nails after they had been groomed.
“Lord Kayo, Mr. Gram finished a new set of clothes for you.” Hanako announced, bringing over the new clothes made by the master dwarf using Kayo’s fur, as the kitsune had requested.
“Sweet! Bring ‘em here.” Kayo yipped, excited to try on the new clothes. The goblina setting the clothes before the little kitsune as she dove into them, looking rather adorable before some black flamelike mist swirled around her as she took on her humanoid form. “It fits!” Kayo gushed, excited as she moved around in her new clothes, while it wasn’t much different from her normal wear, it was mostly just black pants and a tunic, with some black and white sandals now on her feet.
“Hey Kayo, what’s got you all excited?” Rimuru questioned Ranga, letting some goblina’s paint his claws after Rimuru trimmed them, having stopped his useless struggling. The slime took back his original form because he had gotten soaked head to toe in bath water.
“I got new clothes! Oh! and I can do this now! FLAME ON! ” Kayo shouted in excitement, not thinking when her small body was suddenly engulfed in hot black flames. “Ah! Lord Kayo!” Shuna yelled out in horror, worried for the little kitsune lord suddenly being on fire. Benimaru and Souei were also shocked at the sudden burst of powerful flames that surrounded the young kitsune, and then bell-like giggles that came from it.
“Oi! Warn us when you do that!” Rimuru shouted, glaring at the uninjured Kitsune in the middle of the hot black flames. He could still see her golden eyes glowing among them before they cooled down into red flames before dissipating with only the ground scorched from the flames.
“Sorry. But look! They don’t burn! And I don’t have to do a quick change when I transform!” Kayo explained showing off her intact clothes happily when she changed back into her fox form for a few seconds before going back into her humanoid form, back in her new clothes. “See! Isn’t that cool!?” Kayo asked as she looked at the slime with excitement as she waited for his input. “Yeah, cool. At least now you're wearing shoes.” Rimuru pointed out, having noticed his kitsune sibling was wearing some sandals before she let out a sneaky snicker.
“You always gotta have to have a secondary weapon~.” Kayo joked as she picked up her foot and wiggled the innocent looking slipper. Confusing the world's natives but Rimuru suppressed a shiver at some old childhood memories. He wasn’t a bad kid growing up, but he did know the threat of a simple sandal can pose the right, or wrong, hands.
~New Foods~
“So, this is where it lives?” Kayo asked the lizardman guard captain who guided the now 6 tailed kitsune to the aera where a troublesome monster had made its home before the Orc disaster struck. The female lizardman nodded, looking at the kitsune unsurely as she was only accompanied only by the blue Kijin, Souei. However, the captain thought it would be a good idea to bring in a few lizardmen guards with them as back up, but that only made the kitsune laugh before allowing 5 of her subordinates to join them in subduing the nuisance monster.
“Yes. It is a strong and fierce beast that roams the waters. We have been unable to fish here for quite a while and have lost warriors trying to subdue it before, Lord Kayo.” she addressed her respectfully, but still weary of the black kitsune, watching how her tails seemed to wag in excitement. Her father had told her to carefully watch the new Guardian of The Great Jura Forest , the dryad had to have a very good reason to make her the great Veldora’s successor. The young lizardmen was skeptical of the stories her father had told her of the black kitsunes, it had been over a century since the lizardmen had been paid a visit by the powerful fury beast. The last time it had been to gift the Vortex Spear to the newly appointed chieftain, but now a new black kitsune was taking care of the Orcs and a deadly monster.
“No worries I should be able to take car-” the kitsune was saying as she took a few steps forward but then disappeared suddenly. Startling the lizardmen who looked around for the missing kitsune, only for Souei to calmly kneel and stick his hand into the murky water. Pulling up a wet and gasping kitsune from the water. “Fuck! That was deep!” Kayo cursed in shock, coughing up some muddy water as she kneeled next to the kijin. The lizardmen looked at her in shock and disbelief before the water swelled with the disturbance after the kitsune had falling in.
A low growl filled the aera at a large scaley monster that resembled an alligator emerged, its yellow eyes locked onto its future snacks.
“Be on your guard. It may be big but it’s also fast. Lord Kayo please re-” the captain was saying before the kitsune started to laugh in delight. “FUCKING! JACKPOT!” Kayo yelled in excitement as she saw the huge gator like monster, the kitsune couldn’t help but drool at the thought of how tasty the monster would be.
“Lord Kayo! Please get back! We must-” The captain called out only to see a black blur run at the monster who trashed as it tried to attack the swift fox, her eye glowing gold with excitement, happily playing with the giant alligator before pulling out some very special knives.
The 6 lizardmen watched in shock as the kitsune bounced around the massive monster almost playfully, her kitsune form being rather large but nowhere near the mass of the monster she was fighting. It was even more of a shock when there was some black mist and several flashes of light, followed by the sound of thunder. Before they watched as the monster fell and was still, while the overly excited kitsune stood on the bobbing water like it was solid ground.
“Woo! It worked! We gonna be eatin’ good tonight boys~ ! Just look at that fat tail~! WOOO~ WEE!” Kayo yelled, giddy and not hiding her southern accent, excited to have successfully preformed the 3 rd form of Thunder breathing, Thunder Swarm . That and she could introduce her goblin friends to the taste of gator meat, subconsciously the lizardmen brought their tails closer to their bodies at her words.
“D-did she just?” The captain questioned in bewilderment, watching as some innocent fish floated to the surface, casualties of the kitsune's battle with the fierce monster. Souei gave a small smirk at the kitsune’s victory, looking forward to their nightly training being a bit more challenging and interesting as implied by his Dwargon sensei.
~Zoomies & Play Time~
“Nii-san~! Come on! Let’s play! Play with me!” Kayo whined as she pawed at the humanoid slime, having taken on her small kitsune form to take a small nap while Rimuru finished up some work that needed to be done. Only now she was wide awake bothering the slime and giving him adorable puppy dog eyes.
“Okay, okay. You too Ranga. Let's go out and take a break.” Rimuru sighed, a little relieved to get away from the mountain of work his sister had been handling after he named the Orcs.
“I am fine Master; my kin do not need breaks. All we need is to hunt and fight!” Ranga said proudly as he came out of Rimuru shadow, joining the two leaders who exited the assembly building.
“Oh, come on Ranga, I'm sure you take naps in our shadows when you get bored.” Kayo pointed out, hopping onto Rimuru’s shoulder, the slime giving a soft smile and pet the little kitsune on the head as they made their way through the village. “L-lord Kayo I... I apologize. But it is to... conserve my energy should an emergency arise.” Ranga excused but, both his masters gave him flat looks. “Sure, sure. Oh! How about we do some ‘training’ then? It should be fun. I even have some stuff I got to test out too.” Kayo suggested eagerly, giggling happily at her idea.
“What kinda stuff?” Rimuru asked before the kitsune pulled out a wooden disk form her tails, holding it in her mouth but it was a bit bigger than her, so he took it so she wouldn’t fall off his shoulder. “Is this... a plate?” he asked, confused why she pulled this out. “No. It's a frisbee~! You throw, we catch!” Kayo chipped happily as Rimuru let out an amused laugh. Imaging his kitsune sister running after the wooden disk with Ranga, causally wondering who would get the frisbee first.
Notice: Kayo Tempest has shown to have a high prey drive. Caution is advised when chasing an object or other ‘prey’.
‘High prey drive? I'm sure it’s not that bad.’ Rimuru mussed as they got to a big enough clearing where they could ‘train’, given Ranga’s tail wagging could cause a tornado.
“Okay, who’s first?” Rimuru asked, looking at Ranga who looked at the wooden disk unsurely. “Oh! Oh! Me! Me! I wanna go first! I can show Ranga how it’s done!” Kayo offered and hopped off her brother’s shoulder, going into a slightly larger form, excited to try the new game from a 4-legged point of view. Her 3 tails waging with excitement, her golden eyes locked onto the wooden disk, and a hint of a pink tongue sticking out reminded Rimuru of a dog.
“Okay, here goes. Fetch !” Rimuru playfully shouted as he threw the disk into the air. Kayo and Ranga both eagerly going after it with the kitsune being the one to capture the flying disk, proudly bringing it back to Rimuru who was very amused by his sister’s actions.
Ranga sulked at his failure as the humanoid slime pet Kayo’s head as a reward.
“Way to out dog a dog, Kayo.” He mussed but the kitsune glared at him. “I’m not a dog! I’m a kitsune! I can enjoy playing around too ya know.” she reasoned, slightly pouted as the slime had stopped petting her. “Okay. Now it’s your turn Ranga. Fetch!” Rimuru mussed and threw the disk again, this time for his fateful wolf companion. Ranga glared at the flying disk with determination and lunged at it in midair. Chomping down on air as he missed biting the black blur that intercepted it. Kayo had caught the disk again and returned it to an amused Rimuru.
“Looks like you were too slow Ranga.” The slime mussed as the wolf looked shocked as the kitsune had gotten the disk before him. Rimuru took the disk from the kitsune... if she would let it go...
“Kayo? You can let go now.” He told the kitsune, confused as he tried with a little more force to pull it from her mouth, but even with all his weight he couldn’t get the kitsune to let go of the disk.
“Agh! Kayo, give it!” he yelled before the kitsune blinked and let the disk go, Rimuru stumbled a little but had the disk back. “Sorry. Oh! Maybe we can try this one too!” Kayo reasoned quickly and pulled out what looked like a baseball from her tails, offering it to her slime brother who held out his hand for her to drop it into, along with some slobber.
“And here I was thinking you were like a cat.” he joked as Kayo huffed, trying to brush off her embarrassing slip. “Foxes are closely related to dogs and wolves. Not to mention this can help train some of the wolves to catch live prey and not kill unnecessarily. It’s also good bonding and we could also develop a sport everyone can play.” she reasoned and Rimuru chuckled as he looked at the ball fondly. It wasn’t like what he remembered, the ball being mostly leather and some brown thread, but he liked the idea Kayo was presenting.
“Okay, let’s test this out Ranga. Fetch!” Rimuru assured and threw the ball twords the wolf who perked up and ran for the ball quickly, while Rimuru just managed to grab Kayo by the tail as she was about to dart after the new toy. “Not you! Can you show me what other games you have?” Rimuru asked as the kitsune pouted as her tail was let go, it had hurt but more like a quick jolt. Answering his questioned she waved her tails and deposited several more familiar balls and sports equipment that impressed the slime reincarnation.
“No way! When did you have time to make all this?” He asked, as he picked up the familiar badminton paddles and birdy. “I asked Kaijin and his bothers for help mostly. I just gave them the ideas and they made up some prototypes to test out.” the kitsune admitted as Rimuru smiled and pet her head again, getting a rather cute Nyan~ from the odd kitsune.
“Good girl.” Rimuru praised as the kitsune soaked it up happily.
~Rain, Thunder & Mud~
“Hup!” Kayo giggled as her little kitsune body happily splashed into a puddle, no one was around to see her happily splashing in the shallow water and getting mud on her black and white coat. Rolling around without a care and hopping to other puddles to make splashes delighted the once 31-year-old woman, now playing like she was a child again. “I’ve miss doing this~. To bad there’s no one else here. Rimuru would probably just scold me for being so childish. I just wish I could...” she muttered, giving a depressed sigh as she gazed at her reflection in the puddle... only something else was staring back at her.
‘What the!?’ Kayo questioned in shock before she felt herself be picked up by the scruff, her little muddy paws dangling in the air.
“Master Rimuru has been worried about you Master Kayo. It’s time to get out of this rain.” The large wolf told her, making her pout. The booming sound of thunder changed her mind quickly.
“Okay, but can you let me go. I can use my own paws to get there.” Kayo asked and the wolf set her down to allow the kit to walk, or hop, beside him as she continues to jump in the puddles along the way, before the wolf just picked her up again, carrying her into the assembly building where nearly everyone was gathered.
“Ranga, there you are. Did you find Kayo?” Rimuru asked as he noticed the soaked wolf carrying something in his mouth... then it opened its golden eyes and spoke.
“Hi Nii-san~!”
“Kayo! What happened? You're all covered in mud?” The humanoid slime asked, concerned as he took the small kitsune from the wolf, his hands being met with cold, wet fur covered in mud that made the kitsune look completely brown. “I fell?” Kayo responded, wondering if that would be a better reason than her just enjoying the down pour, but the slime gave her a flat look as he almost believed her fake excuse. Seeing her tail wagging told him that the furry reincarnation had enjoyed playing in the rain and mud.
“Lord Rimuru, I will take Kayo to get cleaned up.” Shuna volunteered and carefully took the mud-covered kit with her sleeves folded back to avoid any mud getting on her.
After a warm bath, and a sort meeting about the rain, Kayo lay on the couch in her adult humanoid form, looking out the window watching the rain come down and lighting strike in the sky. Until her eyes started to close, soothed by the sound of rain and thunder, vaguely feeling someone cover her with a blanket when her eyes closed, and she fell into a peaceful sleep.
