Hinata woke up, his body feeling sore, although he did not remember anything that happened yesterday. He struggled until he noticed something beside him. He slowly opens his eyes to see a bare back. “A-AH!” He screamed, falling off the bed, making his body once again burst in pain. But it wasn’t as bad as the last one. “O-ow…” He bit his lip to prevent crying. “Ugh…” Kageyama shuffled, when he noticed Hinata wasn’t by his side. He sat up and looked around when he heard small whimpers from the floor.
He peeked over to see what it was, and saw Hinata in pain. The king went over to the other side of the bed and carried Hinata laying him down and sitting at the edge of the bed. “Drink this.” Kageyama spoke, his voice was like piercing through steel. He had this glare on Hinata that didn’t make things any better.
“O-okay, you-your Hi-h-highness…” Hinata stuttered. He drank it and his body felt weird. He looked at Kageyama who went into the closet to change, only to come out a couple minutes later. He was in his usual fancy and royal outfit. “Are you done?” Kageyama asked Hinata who was still giving him a stare that could cut a person’s neck open. “Y-yes, my body doesn’t hurt anymore…this…this medicine was made by Yamaguchi?” He asked, not looking at Kageyama because of the scary look that he has. “Yes.” He stated coldly before leaving.
Yamaguchi had always put strawberry syrup in medicines, when his parents weren’t looking. But once they found out, they actually continued it because Yamaguchi explained that it was natural strawberry with honey, which was all healthy. And the medicine originally tasted like kelp with poisoned berries, although it cures you from poison.
Hinata frowned and sighed as shivers went down his spine, remembering the face that his king made. Wait what? His king? He meant- The king made. “what am I going to do now, I’m broken, I don’t know what happened. I didn’t do anything wrong yesterday, did I? Will I get executed?” Hinata began to whimper and sob, thinking what could happen to him.
“Why are you crying?” Hinata looked at the doorway to see Kageyama carrying a tray with food on it. “You’re the one supposed to be doing this to me.” He walked over to Hinata and smiled slightly, which made Hinata’s heart go ‘gwaah’. “I-I can get up and start cleaning…” “No. You'll stay here until you get better.” Kageyama glared and patted Hinata’s head which left him stunned.
“understood?” “Y-yes master…I MEAN- I mean your Highness…” Hinata looked away from embarrassment as Kageyama stared at him with wide eyes and red cheeks.
“I just got used to Yamaguchi saying that to Tsukishima-san is all…” Hinata huffed. Kageyama’s smile dropped as he heard the visitors and or nobles come into the throne room, waiting for him. “I gotta get going redhead, eat well.” Kageyama blushed after saying that. He left the room and Hinata started to blush profusely. “Why am I like this? I don’t even know his name, he’s the King! I’m a slave. But they said he was cold hearted…” Hinata started to mumble to himself as he ate.
--
"Should I try to walk?’ he asked himself. He sat at the edge of the bed and slowly stood up. He felt little pain, but he knew he could bear it. He started to walk wobbly as he reached the door handle. “should I go out? What if I get lost again?” he thought.
He took a paper that he found randomly on the king’s desk and a quill with a jar of ink beside it. He went out and drew a map every turn he took.
Although he walked very wobbly, he managed to recognize some paths and write down what rooms it is on his map. As he was drawing he bumped into somebody. “Shoyou…?” Kenma tilted his head. “K-Kenma!”
“I heard the news from Yams, Shoyou, are you okay? You should be resting.” Kenma observed Hinata all over. “ahem.” Kuroo had faked coughed. “sorry sir…” Kenma apologized. Kuroo looked at Hinata. “So, how’s being with the king?” Kuroo asked Hinata, patting his head.
“N-nice…? He gives me head pats and makes me breakfast…” Hinata stated quite puzzled why The king does that. Kuroo stared at a very puzzled Hinata with a face that looked like he had just seen a ghost.
“But the king is cold to everyone, even his parents?” Kuroo contemplated. “I do not believe you.” Kuroo squinted his eyes. “but it’s true!” Hinata exclaimed trying to stand on his tip toes but failed making himself fall unto Kenma.
“Careful, Shoyou.” “Sorry Kenma.” Kuroo grabbed Hinata’s wrist and dragged him. “ow, ow, ow!” Hinata’s pain still hasn’t left and his body was being dragged.
Kenma ran after them. They arrive at a big door. “Where are we?” Hinata asked. “Entrance of the throne room.” Kuroo informed. “H-huh?! Why?!” “because I don’t believe you. “Any slave he had, he always punished them.” Kuroo sighed and opened the big doors.
“Did I tell you to come in?” Kageyama looked at Kuroo with a cold glare when he realized he was gripping something.
His eyes followed the trail of another hand until it came to the face. “Redhead?!” “Y-your highness…!” He exclaimed. Kageyama stood up from his throne and ran to Kuroo and Hinata, snatching him away, making Kuroo shocked.
“Are you okay? Didn’t I tell you to stay there?” “I wanted to train my legs…master…” Kageyama blushed at the name and sighed.
He turns to Kuroo and glares at him. “Why. Were. You. Gripping him?” He stated coldly, earning a gulp from the other king. “He said you made him b-breakfast,” “I did, got a problem with that?” Kageyama retorted, grabbing Hinata by the waist and pulling him closer.
“S-sir…!” “No sir, I’m sorry…” Kuroo bowed and apologized since the Karasuno Kingdom and the Nekoma Kingdom were allies, and although Nekoma was a bigger city, Karasuno had more minerals and resources, and their soldiers were more trained.
Karasuno has always been allied with other big kingdoms, and so far they were the most powerful ones…of course except for Shiratorizawa Capital and Aoba Johsai. “Dismissed.” Kageyama growled before Kuroo walked away, Kenma following behind him. “Are you okay? Is your body still sore?” Kageyama asked, looking all over Hinata.
“I’m f-fine, your highness…” Hinata looked at the direction Kuroo headed. “Why won’t they believe me?” “Because I’m cold hearted.” Kageyama looked away. “I don’t think that.” Kageyama looked at Hinata, shocked.
“I don’t think that you’re cold hearted… if you really were, then you would've not worried about me, right?” Hinata tilted his head. “R-right…” He sighed, smiling. “My name’s Hinata by the way…since you kept calling me redhead.” He chuckled, earning a small smile from the King.
Kageyama took Hinata’s hand and dragged him to the throne. “sit.” He demanded, almost in a soft way. “Um, okay?”
Hinata sat on the throne and he gasped. “Woah!” Hinata’s eyes beamed with interest. “It’s so comfy and Nice and- and you K-know like, Gwaah!” He exclaimed and leaned at the throne. “Your Highness you called us-…?” Daichi, Tsukishima, and Asahi’s eyes were wide open when they saw the King standing, while his little slave was the one sitting on the throne. “S-sir…?” “Yeah?”
“Oh, hey Yams, Noya-san, Sugawara-san!” Hinata waved at them and they awkwardly waved back, just as shocked as their masters. “Is it comfy?” Kageyama returned to look at Hinata. “yeah! Super!” Hinata beamed, earning a smile from the King.
Hinata looked at their friends. “Why’re their mouths open?” Hinata asked. Kageyama looked at them too and shrugged. “Dunno.” “Uhm, sir, is it okay? For your slave to sit on your throne?” Daichi asked. You could hear the nervousness and confusion in his voice. “Yeah. Why wouldn’t it be?” He looked at Hinata once again who was attempting to stand up on the throne.
“Hey, uhm I know that it’s kind of surprising to see the King standing before his slave, but why do you look so…shocked?” Sugawara whispered in Daichi's ear. “You don’t get it; the King doesn’t even let anyone near him or his throne. Even his Servants.” Daichi explained earning an ‘Oh’ from Sugawara.
“Are you tired, Sir?” Hinata asked, tilting his head. “no thanks, you can sit there whenever you like.” Kageyama stated. “So what Kuroo said was true…” Tsukishima mumbled. Daichi, and Asahi looked at him, as well as their slaves. “What happened?”
“The king got mad at him for not believing that he fed his slave breakfast and took care of him. He also got mad for gripping his hand.” Tsukishima explained. “Yamaguchi, Tsukishima.” Both of them tensed and looked at the King slowly. “Y-yes your highness?” They bowed. “You can get a vacation or whatever, to help Hinata get better.” He huffed. “Oh, Yamaguchi, your Medicines were awesome!” Hinata exclaimed.
“Thanks!” Yamaguchi grinned. Tsukishima was already planning what to do for their vacation. “Lily pad, let’s go.” He snatched Yamaguchi and started running away. “Shoyou, you’re so lucky! I wish I got to sit on a throne!” Yelled Nishinoya. “It’s very comfy Noya-san!” Hinata beamed.
“What time is it?” Hinata asked, looking around. Asahi looked outside the window. “It’s 3pm.” Hinata looked at Kageyama in disbelief and confusion. “anD yOu FeD Me BrEaKFaSt?” Hinata asked. “Uh- yeah.” Kageyama tilted his head in confusion.
“Anyway, Daichi and Asahi, you have a mission.” Kageyama stated. The two saluted. “Since Asahi is the best Medic, you should bring him. Your Mission is to go to Aoba Johsai and guide King Tooru and his men to safety on the journey here.
They bowed and went to inform the soldiers. Kageyama looked back at Hinata who was just getting comfortable. “Hinata.” “Yes sir?” Hinata responded, still rubbing his cheeks at the throne, since it was ‘comfy’. “Do you want to see your sister?”
Hinata paused for a moment. “REALLY?!” he yelled, jumping up and down on the throne. “yeah.” Hinata paused for a moment and lowered his head. “Hm? What’s wrong.” The King asked, tilting his head. “O-oh, nothing…I just, Tsukishima was right…I guess I am lucky, huh?” He sniffed.
Kageyama sighed and walked away, and once again, Hinata followed by instinct. “where is she?” Hinata asked. “She’s in foster, since you aren’t old enough to take care of her.” Kageyama explained. “Are you ready?” Kageyama asked as they reached a big door. “What's behind that?” Hinata pointed.
Kageyama looked at him and smiled. “outside.” He muttered, leaving Hinata’s eyes wide. “I-...huh?” Hinata was stunned. “Are you sure you want ME to go outside?” Hinata asked, pointing at himself. “What's wrong with that?” Kageyama tilted his head. “I’m a SLAVE!? Hello?! Cold king, where are you at?!” Hinata yelled, waving his hands around.
Kageyama rolled his eyes and grabbed Hinata’s hand as they walked out the castle.
It was pretty. So, so pretty… Hinata glanced around while the king was smiling at him. all of the civilians were looking at them and bowing at them as they walked to one house. Kageyama knocked and a person answered. “oh…hello your majesty…” the girl bowed. “Where’s Natsu?” Kageyama asked. Hinata’s head snapped as she heard Natsu’s name.
“Natsu?” Hinata muttered. Kageyama glanced at him and smiled, which made the girl blush and widen her eyes a bit. “She’s here…” She sighed and yelled for Natsu. “what.... NEE-CHAN!” Natsu cried as she ran to hug Shoyou. “We’ll be taking care of her.” Kageyama smiled. “huh…?” The girl stuttered. “B-but…I want to stay with Eiko-sama…” Natsu whimpered. “Natsu?” Hinata smiled sweetly. He turned to look at the woman who was Eiko and smiled. “Please take care of my little sister…” He gently shoved Natsu back to Eiko.
The woman smiled as she hugged Natsu. “Thank you… Hinata.” Eiko sobbed. The woman hugged Hinata as Kageyama stared at him. “Shall we go, your majesty?” Hinata asked Kageyama, who was just silent. Kageyama nodded and the two headed back to the castle. “Why did you let her go? She was your only family member, right?” Kageyama asked. Hinata looked at him and smiled. “Well, you don’t have to be blood related to be family, Kenma, Yamaguchi and the others… I think of them as my family!” Hinata exclaimed.
“And me?” Kageyama asked. This left Hinata stunned and confused. He stopped walking and turned to Kageyama, which Kageyama did the same. “What do I think of you?” Hinata tilted his head, puzzled. “W-well, I don’t know your majesty, I’ve only known you for three days…” Hinata stated, unsure. Kageyama sighed and nodded. “Let’s go back then, shall we?” Kageyama sighed. Hinata nodded slowly as he followed Kageyama.
“Uh- uhm- your Majesty, have you had any previous slaves…?” Hinata asked. “I did, they all were scared of me. Some killed themselves, some escaped, some got executed…” Kageyama explained. “And what will happen to me?” Hinata gulped. Kageyama stopped, making Hinata hit Kageyama’s back. He turned around to face Hinata and bent, so that he could see Hinata's eye height.
“Nothing will ever happen to you, and something ever did, I will never ever forgive them, even if it was me.” Kageyama snarled, making Hinata flinch. Kageyama cupped Hinata’s cheek with one hand and stared right into his soul. “U-uh, o-okay…” Hinata muttered, lost by Kageyama’s blue bell eyes. “Let’s go inside then.” Kageyama lets go of Hinata as they walk inside the castle throne room, to be greeted by the others.
“Where did you guys go?” Tsukishima asked. “To the village…” Hinata whispered. The others were quite puzzled as to why the king treated Hinata like that. “and what did you do in the village?” Kuroo asked. “We… visited Natsu?” Hinata once again answered. “Lucky…” Kenma sighed.
The slaves went into Kenma, Yamaguchi and Hinata’s room. “Woah, our rooms are basically the same!” Nishinoya exclaimed. “Anyway Hinata, what did you do to the king?” Yamaguchi asked, sitting on his bed. “Nothing?” Hinata stated, puzzled. “Well, you clearly did something, the King Is usually cold and merciless, and would kill anyone who annoys him. that’s what Tsukki- Tsukishima said…” Yamaguchi mumbled.
“Enough about me, what about you guys. How’s life being a slave?” Hinata exclaimed, trying to change the subject. “Well… I’m still not uncomfortable with Kuroo… and it’s the same for him, whenever we’re in his room, there’s just awkward silence…” Kenma sighed, disappointed.
“I guess mine is Kind of nice, he offers me tea or coffee, but I often need to help him with guard duties.” Sugawara stated, stretching while laying down beside Yamaguchi and cuddling up with him. “Yamaguchi?” Kenma asked. “Well, he has an awful personality, but he gets nice once in a while, and he’s very cool!” Yamaguchi exclaimed, his eyes glimmering. “Mine is too overprotective, I just cut my finger and he started crying like crazy, saying how he didn’t take care of me or something.” Nishinoya stated.
The others looked at him like they were jealous of Nishinoya. “regardless… none of us are really having a bad time, except for Kenma that is.” Noya smiled, earning a glare from Kenma. “I just… feel weird around him, He’s like- the tension just feels weird, I’m glad but also not.” Kenma tried to explain. “Glad but also not?” Sugawara tilted his head.
“I’m very glad that I didn’t get picked by the King, but at the same time, I’m not glad that I got picked by the other king.” Kenma sighed, falling down on his bed. “Sucks.” Noya scoffed. “Hinata.” Kageyama muttered from the door. They all turned around to look at him. they stood up and bowed, except for Hinata. “oh, Haha! Your Majesty, is there something you need?” Hinata smiled. “Do you want to eat outside?” Kageyama asked, pointing in a certain direction. “Hmm, sure!” Hinata grinned. The king smiled and walked away.
Once Hinata turned around his eyes were met by very jealous ones. “and you say I’m lucky?” Nishinoya huffed. “C-c’mon guys, I’m going to go ask the king whether you can come with me!” Hinata smiled. “We can never be too mad at you Hinata, but that’s okay… the king might get irritated,” Sugawara gulped, sitting back down.
Hinata got dressed and smiled at them. “That won’t be necessary, I’m going to go ask him!” Hinata ran. Others gulped in fear, regretting that they said he was lucky.
“Y-your Majesty!” Hinata pantsed, barging in the King’s room. “Hm?” Kageyama hummed. Hinata looked at him from bottom to top, seeing Kageyama's upper part bare naked. “S-SORRY FOR DISTURBING YOU.” Hinata yelled as he shut the door. A few minutes passed and Hinata knocked on the door. “you can come in now…” Hinata heard a faint mutter. “O-okay, sorry once again your highness…” Hinata whispered, slowly coming into the room.
“I decided to dress up, what do you say… casually, though I think It is a bit formal…?” Kageyama stated. Hinata blushed and smiled. “It looks amazing on you, your majesty!” Hinata grinned. Kageyama was wearing a black and white vest coat with a blue tie. “You look amazing, actually…” Hinata muttered. “Thank you, you don’t look too bad yourself.” Kageyama smiled, staring at Hinata who was wearing a sky blue shirt topped with a white jacket. “And your crown?” Hinata pointed at Kageyama’s head. “I’ll leave it for now.” Kageyama smiled. He held Hinata’s hand as they started to walk in the hallway. “actually… can the others come with?” Hinata asked, fiddling with his fingers. “Yeah, as long as their masters come with.” Kageyama muttered.
Hinata grinned and ran off to the others. “He said yes!” He shouted. “Wait, really?” Kenma whispered, earning a nod from Hinata. “What's the catch?” Nishinoya asked. “Uhm… your masters need to come with you.” Hinata smiled. The others sighed as they started to leave. “We’ll go ask them...” Kenma sighed. Hinata smiled as he ran off to find Kageyama once again.
--
“Your Highness?” Kenma stated, while watching Kuroo write down something. “Hm?” Kuroo hummed. “Will you accompany me with the others outside? The king said we were allowed to go outside with Shoyou, as long as our masters come with us.” Kenma explained. “Oh? Sure I guess.” Kuroo looked at Kenma.
Kenma smiled and bowed, and Kuroo was sure he saw an angel when Kenma smiled.
--
“Yo, sir.” Nishinoya exclaimed, making the big softie flinch. “Y-yes?” “Accompany me with the others will you? I’m not allowed to go out unless you go with me.” Nishinoya explained. “U-uhm…” “Please?” Nishinoya gave Asahi puppy dog eyes. “F-fine, because you said please…”
Asahi got up and got dressed as well as Nishinoya. They headed to the throne room, meeting up with the two kings and the two slaves.
--
“Hello sir,” Sugawara bowed. “Hello Sugawara.” Daichi smiled. “Can you come with me with the others? I won’t be able to go with them unless you come.” Sugawara asked, laughing nervously. “Oh, well then… sure.” Daichi smiled. “Thank you sir!” Sugawara bowed. They got dressed and headed outside, meeting the others.
“U-uh…” Yamaguchi muttered, but he couldn’t speak due to fear. “what?” Tsukishima snarled at Yamaguchi. Yamaguchi flinched and turned away. “Uhm… never mind, sorry for bothering…” Yamaguchi bowed and ran away. He really didn’t like those kinds of people who got mad at him for doing nothing.
Tsukishima sighed and closed the book he was reading.
He walked outside and went into the throne room, to see the others. “Tsukishima, you’re not coming?” Daichi asked. “Coming to where...?” Tsukishima tilted his head. “Yamaguchi didn’t tell you? Oh well… he looked like he wanted to go, but I guess he doesn’t really want to huh?” Kenma sighed. “Huh?” Tsukishima hummed, still confused. “We were going to eat outside in the village, but your master needs to come, you’re the only one who didn’t agree… or Yamaguchi didn’t tell you…” Hinata muttered.
Tsukishima’s eyes widened as he realized that Yamaguchi was going to be left behind. “Please wait for us.” Tsukishima stated as he dashed off. He looked everywhere for Yamaguchi till he finally found him sitting on a corner. “Yamaguchi?” He whispered. “Tsukishima-kun?” Yamaguchi muttered.
Tsukishima stood in front of Yamaguchi and kneeled down. “Why aren’t you with them, don’t you want to come with them?” Tsukishima asked. “Well, you looked busy, so I didn’t bother…” Yamaguchi turned away. “Get dressed, we’re going with them.” Tsukishima stated, grabbing Yamaguchi.
Once they were finished dressing up, they returned to the throne room where the others were waiting. “What took you guys so long?” one of the people whom Tsukishima did not care who spoke. “Nothing, let’s just go.” Tsukishima scoffed leaving the others shrugging.
“Where are we going, your Highness?” the tangerine asked. “To my favorite restaurant.” The king replied. The other’s mouths were watering when they heard the word ‘restaurant.’
“Wowee! we’ve never been into a restaurant before, I’m excited to know what it’s like!” Hinata grinned. The king stopped his tracks before turning around to face them. “You have never been to a restaurant before?” the king tilted his head. Hinata shook his head, and so did the others.
“Our town didn’t really have anything fancy… It is just a small branch after all…” Sugawara sighed. Kageyama turned around and started walking once again. “Well, this will be the best food you’ll taste in your entire life.” The king smiled.
“alright then!” Hinata smiled before all of them walked into the restaurant. “This is so fancy…” The redhead muttered. Kageyama stared at him as Hinata examined the place.
“Guys, this place is so cool!” Hinata beamed. The King smiled behind his breath as Sugawara tried to calm down Hinata.
‘NOYA-SAN, THIS IS SO AWESOME!” “RIGHT?!” The two yelled, clearly amused by their surroundings. “U-Uhm, maybe it’s better not to s-scream…” The ‘medic’ mumbled.
“Hinata.” The king called. “O-oh! Yes, your majesty!?” Hinata shouted, not realizing that he was making a scene. “come here.” Kageyama sighed.
However, while others were amazed by the view, a specific individual didn’t like it at all. ‘Shoyou… please stop shouting, you’re making the others stare at us.’ HE thought.
But of course, he couldn’t say that to Shoyou. He knew it was the first time he truly felt happy after… well the loss of Hinata’s mother. He wanted him to smile more.
It was the only thing that keeps him going, and he’s glad to have a friend like him. He would do anything to make his friend happy, even if it means burdening himself.
“Um, hey… you okay little kitten?” “What the heck is with that nickname…?” Kenma stared into the king of Nekoma’s eyes.
“Why? It perfectly suits you~” The king smirked. “It most definitely doesn’t” Kenma huffed.
The king couldn’t help but giggle at his reaction. It was the first time he’s been satisfied with a servant, all of the servants he had, either fell for him, and tried to get his attention, thought they were special just because the king picked them, or was scared of the king.
“ahem, should we sit down?” Kuroo coughed as the others looked at him, including kenma. The king sighed and nodded.
All of them sat down as people were still staring at them, after all, two kings were inside the same restaurant as they are.
