Reveals

The light was far too bright as you managed to force your eyes open.

What had happened?

As your senses began to come back to you you realized the sensation of someone touching you, startling you. You quickly pushed away from the body you seemed to have been cradled against, grunting as you fell off the cot and onto the floor. You snapped out of your sleepy trance all at once, eyes flying around the room trying to figure out what was going on.

The door to the bubble was wide open, Thor was slumped over in a chair, the man who was with Thor earlier was standing hunched over a table with another brunet man whose face you couldn’t see, and finally there was James on your cot, seemingly having been just as startled by your movement as you were.

Your dramatics had alerted the rest of the group that you were awake again. You could feel the blood rushing in your ears as you thought about the fact that Thor was here and what the could mean for you when suddenly a strangely familiar and oddly comforting magic entangled itself with yours, soothing you and allowing you to breath before you got too far into your own head. As you came back to yourself you realized that not only was it the magic soothing you but the man who had appeared infront of you was well. He was speaking hushed words in asgardian, and though it had been years since you last heard someone speak asgardian you were able to pick up on it for the most part.

“It’s okay, you’re safe. I’m not going to let anyone hurt you anymore”

You took a moment to assess who this man might be. He must be the mystery guest of Thor. Okay, time to do some process of elimination. Who does Thor know who has magic, has long dark hair, and would be willing to come to midgard? There was only one person this could be…

“Loki” your hoarse voice chokes out quietly. The way his hands tightened around yours made sure you knew he had heard you as well as confirmed your suspicions. You know that seeing him here should send you into as much of a panic as seeing Thor, but the way his magic feels entwined with yours, intertwined like lovers holding hands, makes you feel so safe in his presence.

“You know who I am?” he asks quietly. You simply nod, trying to recall enough Asgardian to formulate a sentence. He watches you struggle before seeming to come to a realization, “You don’t speak Asgardian, but you can understand it?” Averting your eyes to the floor you look as if you’re trying to curl up on yourself. Loki can feel the fear and shame that floods your magic and is quick to try to remedy the situation, “It’s alright little one, I know Allspeak so you may speak whatever language you’re able to”

While that seems to soothe you a bit, you still look at him full of fear and apprehension, but a small nod from him is encouragement enough as you begin to speak softly. “Yes, I know all about you and your brother, princes of Asgard” The room is silent. James and the other brunet at the table have no idea what’s going on, but you hear a sharp inhale from Thor and Loki’s hands tighten on yours for a moment before relaxing once more.

“I know that’s not your real face, will you lower your glamor love?” Your eyes once again dart around the room at all four men you would be revealing your identity to before landing on one of the many cameras pointed right at you. Loki follows your gaze before softly calling out to the man at the table. The man responds and Loki turns back to you before speaking in Asgardian once more, “The cameras have all been turned off, it’s okay. Please?”

It was the please that really sent you over the edge. In all the years you had spent in the castle of Asgard you had never heard the younger prince say please to anyone besides his mother. You quickly glanced over at James, who was watching the interaction intensely, before looking back to Loki and giving a small nod. Lowering your glamor would change things, would change everything. They would have questions, questions you couldn’t or didn’t want to answer and could possibly cause you to lose James or Loki, the closest things to a friend you have right now when they see who you really are. But he had said please in that soft voice that convinces whoever he’s talking to that he actually cares about them when in reality you had seen him use it a thousand times to get what he needed and leave whatever poor soul he had used in the dust.

With a sigh you close your eyes, feeling the magic fall away from your face. You didn’t dare open your eyes, afraid of the disgust and disdain you would receive from all those in the room. Instead of the instant yelling you had expected you heard shocked gasps from all around you before silence fell once again. A soft hand touched your chin, maneuvering your head to be facing Loki once more. “Open your eyes love, please” Reluctantly you opened your eyes, staring straight into Loki’s green ones. “Thank you darling”

You were content to stare into his eyes forever, they hadn’t changed at all though they seemed wiser than the last time you had seen him. He seemed to feel the same way as neither of you moved to look anywhere else. Suddenly the peaceful silence was shattered by the man at the table calling out, with Jarvis once again translating his words, “Would anyone like to explain to me what’s going on or why she looks like that?”

That was when Thor spoke up for the first time, “She’s a dark elf”
