The boundaries
Luz thought about what to do for a few days before deciding to talk to Amity about it. It was a Saturday and Amity was sitting on the couch watching some cartoons until Luz walked into the living room. She sat down next to Amity waiting for the right moment to talk to Amity. Amity seemed a bit fidgety so Luz decided to wait till the commercials started.
When the commercials started Luz turned towards Amity and cleared her throat "Um Amity can I talk to you about something?" Amity immediately started to say "I'm so sorry Luz for going into your diary! I just hated seeing you struggle and I thought a positive note would make you feel better. I'm sorry, please forgive me!" Luz let out a small chuckle before saying "At least you know what you did wrong and you did apologize but it doesn't immediately make it better. I think we need to talk about our boundaries so something like this doesn't happen again." Amity only nodded "Amity I'm not mad at you I just want to make sure we know what both of us are comfortable with." Amity looked up "yeah I know Luz."
Luz got up from the couch and held her hand out Amity looked at her in confusion before Luz said " we should go somewhere more private for this talk."

"Ok where should we start Luz?" Luz took a deep breath and started "Let's start with the note. As much as I love that you left a note in my diary it is my diary it's where I put my most personal thoughts." Amity looked down " I know I'm sorry for intruding in your personal thoughts. I just wanted to make you feel better and I know that isn't an excuse but you never tell me how you feel anymore and it hurts." Luz never thought about how she made Amity feel by hiding her feelings.
Now Luz felt like a horrible person and clearly Amity noticed " Luz you don't have to talk to me. I'm fine with waiting for you to be ready to talk. " Amity said as she put her hand on Luz's shoulder " But may I say something Luz?" Luz nodded "I think you should talk to your mom about everything. I know it's unrelated to this but I think you should. I feel like it would repair your relationship with her. You don't have to." Luz giggled " That is very unrelated but I think I have a solution for our problem. Maybe we could get a notebook where we can write each other small encouraging notes so you won't be snooping and you would cheer me up!" Amity smiled widely and hugged Luz tightly "I would love that Luz."
