Rivalry

You run into the back yard, Elliott following close behind you. You were almost in the middle of the yard when a huge gust of wind knocked you onto the ground. You rolled onto your back, laughing. Even with your eyes closed, you can feel her lay on the ground next to you.

You hear one of your brothers, not sure who, say they were heading out, and they would be back soon. You let out a squeak of acknowledgment, aware of the fact that Faith would have an eye out for them.

“Hey, would I still have to go to ‘The Church’ for an updated id?  Still don’t understand why they call it a church though, it’s more like a check-in station, let alone the fact that half the creatures here don’t even go to the church on sunday.”

You open your eyes to look at your sister, taking in the fact she is still looking up. You remind her that the church itself isn’t religious, nor bother to talk about what they do. They are mostly here to look over the town and host events. Buuuuuut the answer to her question is yes.

“Huh” Elliott rolled over to face you. “I guess human practices are different.” You consider asking about the humans, seeing as you only been there once, unable to remember what exactly happened while you were there. So you did.

“Well, for starters, most of them suck.” She lets out a tired sigh. “Though some are cool. I think a few are showing signs of powers, but I don’t think that would do anything. Most have them, and don’t even know how to use them! It’s annoying as much as it is mind-blowing.” She lets out a groan of annoyance, rolling back on her back. “Like how can humans be so stupid and smart at the same damn time?!”

Instead of responding, you stay quiet, zoning out a bit. “Ko?” You snapped back to reality as you heard your name get called. You turn your head, only to be met with a slightly concerned look from her. You tell her it’s fine, when an idea struck. You bring up the fact that she still needs to get her id renewed. “Yea, what about it?” You tell her that instead of walking, like you would normally do, you two could race. Whoever wins gets bragging rights and fist picks on dessert.

(Only because Tym(mi) and Ty(ler) are to young to be near the stove, and icecream was a given)

Elliott seems to pirks up at the idea. “Deal. But only if we can stop by the cafe on the way back, I wanna see if they still work there.” You agree to the deal, and soon, the two of you sprinted towards The Church, jumping the fence that surrounds the yard and accidentally startling your mother. You planned on getting something from the cafe to apologise later.

—-------------------------------------------------------------

You both arrive outside of the church, Golden Pasture Church, which you found out the name of by Faith matching your speed to say hello and ask where you were heading to so fast. After you told them, they nodded, told you the proper name and fell back, presumably to talk to Elliott. Afterwards, they somehow out sped you and Elliot, (Let be honest, neither of you were the fastest runners, and you haven’t tried to race Faith yet) and disappeared into their house.

You walked inside one the church, only to be tackled by two little children you have never seen before. Both seem no older than 5-6 years old.

“Hwan-yeonghabnida Jamae/Hyeongjenim!”  They both spoke at the same time, before looking at each other, confusion filled their gazes. “Jamae / Hyeongjenim!” You can somewhat tell what they are saying, as you learned a tad bit of the language, which you figured was Korean. You were slightly uncomfortable as they argued the words “Jamae/Hyeongienim”,both speaking at the same time, which doesn’t help.

You look back, noting the fact that Elliott had slowed down at some point and still hadn't arrived. You jumped at the sudden touch of someone grabbing their hands. Turns out, as you were looking for your sister, they somehow ended up on the opposite side of you, glaring little daggers at each other.

“Eun, Ha-Yoon, 멈추다. 그들을 내버려 둬.”

You looked up as the two kids let go of your hands. You give them a thankful look. You realise it has been four years ago since the two of you have seen each other.

“Hwan-yeong hyeongje, Welcome!”

As you let out a sigh of relief, he walked over and gave you a hug. “Don’t mind them ~에게, they can be a handful sometimes.” You ask who they were. “Oh, those two are Eun and Ha-yoon, my little siblings. Th- Oh hey 아름다운. Long time no see.” Chun-Dae eyes flickered up past you. You turn around, seeing that Elliott had arrived. You hear her mutter a quiet “Hi” as she regains her breath. You watched as she looked up, her face flushed. “O-oh heeeey CD’ h-”

“Chun-Dae dear, the rule hasn’t changed” Chun-Dae gave a small, passive-aggressive smile. If you could see his eyes, which were covered by a vail, he might have sent a half-hearted glare (you choose to assume he probably did).

“Right! Chun-Dae, how has it been? You look as handso- WaitWhatAmISayingAhh-” You watched as Elliott makes even more of a fool of herself, slowly becoming more and more spider-like (you just noticed she changed back into her default form).

You noticed Chun-Dae had an amused grin on his face. You tune out whatever he was about to say, turning your attention to look around. You spotted a double door with the words ‘Library’ written on it. You hesitate to walk closer when—

“You can go in.”

You jumped at the sudden noise. You look over your shoulder and see Chun-Dae looking at you. “We’ll be here.” He points towards another room nearby. You turn away from him, facing the library. You push open the doors, and are greeted by rows upon rows of books. You haven’t been here before. (You didn’t even know this room was here!).

You glanced around, spotting a desk similar to the one in the (much) smaller library in town. You walked over to it, and rang the small bell that was there.

---------------------------

OVER HERE~” Called out a muffled voice, in a song-like tone. You head in the direction of where the voice seemed to callout from. You ended up near one of the selfs in the ‘Foreign languages’ section. You skimmed the area but didn’t see anyone.

“Up here dear.”

You look up, taking a step back as you spot someone with medium brown with faded blue hair. They also have glistening blue wings with white at the edges, making them look like the wings were slowly freezing. The person gently glided down from their place on the ladder, right in front of you. You subconsciously take a step back.

“Such a pleasure to meet you young one! My, it’s been a while since anyone has been here.” The person tilted their head like they were thinking. “ Ah! It has been a week.” You take a few steps back as they suddenly start to flap their wings together, making a sound similar to a bee. “A Week?! My Goodness, Sweet Gwiaździsty! I can not possibly say that this place hasn't been entered in a week! Wh-” The person started to mumble under their breath. You hesitated before speaking up, but you now had a question and you wanted to ask.

“Who and what are you?”
