To Peter and Harley’s chagrin, they’re ushered into the elevator and ordered to take a walk around the block.

(“Why don’t we get to know?” Harley whined.
“This is grown-up stuff.” May said. Peter wrinkled his nose.
“We’re practically grown-up.” He said. Tony reached into his pocket and pulled out three $100 bills.
“Here go buy yourselves some candy or something.” Peter paled. Harley grinned.
“Sweet!”)

Back in the living room, Tony, Pepper, May, Sam, Natasha, and Bucky sit in a semicircle. Tony has FRIDAY pull up the specs of the file that Natasha has placed on the coffee table.

“We all know that Peter got his powers from a spider at Oscorp. Norman put two and two together, and figured it out. Back when Peter first fought against the Green Goblin, Norman got a sample of Peter’s blood. He’s been using it to try and replicate the formula that gave Peter his powers in the first place.” Natasha meets Tony’s eye. He caught on.

“Super-soldiers.” He says. Natasha nods grimly. Pepper clears her throat, one hand cradled on her stomach protectively.

“Has he succeeded?” She asks. Natasha looks at Sam, who grimaces.

“We don’t know.” He says. May’s brows shoot up to her hairline.

“You don’t know?” She echoes, incredulous. “What the hell do you mean?” Natasha folds the file over and FRIDAY illuminates the new page, where the image of a girl around Peter and Harley’s age stares back at them.

“This is Gwendolyne Maxine Stacy.” Natasha says. May gasps, drawing the attention of the room.

“That’s Captain Stacy’s daughter.” She says, looking at Pepper and Tony. “He was the Captain at Ben's precinct. Gwen and Peter used to have playdates.” May looks at Natasha, Sam, and Bucky. “She’s been missing since the Snap.” Natasha shook her head.

“Not since.” She says. “Before.” Sam leans forward.

“Gwen was a biochemistry intern at Oscorp. Around the same time Norman debuted as the Green Goblin, Gwen started noticing some irregularities in the lab files. She started digging deeper, and was about three firewalls away from discovering what Norman was really up to: trying to recreate Spider-Man.” He says. “When the Snap happened, it was the perfect opportunity.”

“Osborne had her kidnapped.” Tony says. No use in beating around the bush. Bucky nods.

“Yes.” He said. “And they started experimenting on her.” May lowers her head.

“Jesus.” She mutters. When she lifts her head again, there are tears in her eyes. “Her poor parents.” She looked at Natasha. “Do they know?”

Natasha shook her head.

“We don’t want to tell them anything until we find her.” She says. Tony caught her eye, and the unspoken ‘if’ lingered between them.
