Chapter 1
One moment I was enjoying my well-deserved hiking vacation, and the next moment I find myself in a building. I would not have believed myself if it wasn’t for the drastic change before my eyes from a lush forest to the inside of what looks like a living space inside a huge apartment.
After some, okay, several moments of confusion and panic I decide that I cannot just keep standing around. This is probably a dream, but if there is even a chance that this is real, I need to act now. Teleportation is definitely non-existent, and whatever this is, it is dodgy.
The first places I find are the living room with a big collection of gaming consoles and a big well stocked kitchen. Besides the fact that whoever owns this building is very rich, there is nothing out of the ordinary thus far. Walking further the only other room I find on this level is a cinema? Yup, definitely a cinema. Whose apartment is this? Deciding against taking the elevator, I take the stairs next to the elevator.
I doubt what the best tactic is. On one hand, I would like to leave this place as fast as possible before I come face to face with some mob boss or something like that. But on the other hand, I need to know where I am, why I am here, how I ended up here, and more importantly: how to get back to my lovely vacation place.
My need for a plan wins and I decide to check out the level below this one before I go... somewhere. After opening the door I go into the first room to the right. Which turns out to be a library. Perfect. Walking through there I see there are a lot of books about technology, biology, history, and witchcraft. Huh, weird. Walking a bit further I find a study space. It is filled with all sorts of articles from newspapers. This has to be some kind of joke, or someone writing a book. There is just no way that these articles are real.

And what are they even talking about? The first one I get, but the rest? Is the person that lives here a fanfiction writer? But then, what about the articles? It just does not make any sense.
Seeing as there is no reliable information to be found here, I decide to go with option B: Get the hell out of this place.
Whoever lives here, they are not home and I have no trouble getting out of here. Unfortunately, I have still no idea where I am and why I am here. Oke, think logically. Just like the GeoGuessr game, but then in real life. This might actually be the easiest one yet. Seeing as there is an American flag across the street.
The people around me speak mostly English, there are a lot of yellow cabs, and high buildings with even more American flags. The only question is, which American city am I in? And how did I travel halfway across the world in the blink of an eye?
One street further, and I get the answer to at least one of those questions. On the left side of the street is a nice-looking place called Uncle Paul's Pizza NY. I may have never been to the United States before, but even I know NY stands for New York.
