Chapter 1
PROLOGUE
Kiana's pov
'Pant..pant..pant'
"Is that what you got, Kiana?" said Durandal calmly in front me. She placed her lance down and waited for me to catch my breath. We've been training for almost 8 hours now. I know I missed my sister after 8 years on the moon, even though she occasionally visited me and we played soccer but it was different with how we are both training right now. No visit time restrictions and of course we can spend more time together.
After I returned from the moon which was 2 weeks ago. My sister has set a tight schedule to train me non-stop. She said from now I have to rely on my basic martial art skills to fight, which is I don't have any problem with it except trying my hardest to adapt with earth gravity since weight on earth is 6 times greater than weight on moon. It took me whole day to swing my own claymore with ease.
Other than that, Professors said I need to suppress using honkai power as best as I could, because every honkai energy I use will leave a residue and it will affect any living beings which get touched by it. Earth just completely recovered from Project Stigma impacts 8 years ago. People started all over again by rebuilding every aspect for living on earth, with the help from Tesla, Einstein and others Professors, they used the latest technology to increase the progress of building roads, skyscrapers, highways and so on.
With those facts, of course I will try my best not to rely on using honkai power anymore. I’m still strong enough to fight with my own physique. I will make sure earth will be at peace until the end.
"Nah, I just haven't gotten used to with gravity here after 8 years living on the moon, big sis" I grinned while start to charge on my sister again.
“alright then, get ready for the next strike Kiana”
“bring it on” I saw my sister smiled and start to take a stance then her gaze moved seeing someone who walked behind me. It was Mei.
“Sorry for bothering your training but Overseer told me to deliver this message for you" said Mei while looking at us. She usually picked me up after she is done with her classes if she isn't on a mission. She is a teacher and a squad leader of 3rd team. Mei told me she usually go on a team mission like few times in a month. She wants to introduce her squad members to me but I don't have any chance to meet them, maybe later. Now she was just came back from a mission.
"Hey" she greeted and smiled softly at me. How her eyes looking at me made me feel warmly inside.
"Meiiii, how was your mission"? I dropped my claymore on my side and stretched my hand towards her. She took it as she get close to me. "The mission is on pending because we haven't got enough clues, but we took the sample of photos from the victim and I already showed them to Nagamitsu for records" she moved her gaze to look on the ground with sad expression.
"Hey, I'm sure those big brain Professors will figure this out" I squeezed her hand while lift her chin up to meet her eyes with mine.
“Yea, I hope so” She turned to smile while looking at me, I felt my cheeks turn warmer under her gaze.
"Umm so I will leave you two here to see Overseer for what she wants to tell me, probably I will be coming home late Kiana, you can eat dinner without me" said Durandal walking towards Overseer's office but she patted Mei's shoulder and gave her encouragement's nod.
After my sister went off, I asked Mei to come to my house. "Hey Mei, wanna come to my place? I just got a packet from Bronya this morning and it is the latest version of Arahato. I want to try it out first with you" I asked her and hope she would accept my invitation.
“you sure Bronya doesn’t mind if you try it out first without her? As far as I remember, Bronya mentioned she keeps this game until you get back to earth so you’re both can play it together” said Mei with mix expression of teasing and smiling.
“oh yeah I forgot about that, but would you like to come around? I’ll show you my latest invention of pizza toast”
There was a brief paused before Mei chuckled.
"Of course Kiana, I would love to" replied Mei.
“Great” I grinned and smiled widely while pulling her out from the training room. This was like the other nights we spent time together after done with our business on that day. I want to spend more time with Mei to make up the time when I was on the moon. I'm still waiting for the right moment to ask her out, I know Mei have feeling for me like I do to her. Hopefully, I'm not wrong about that.
After we arrived at my house. I unlocked the door to let Mei in. We talked a little in the living room before she asked to use my kitchen to cook dinner for us. We already bought the ingredients at the local market along our walk back home. While Mei still cooking, I used the time to use bathroom to take a bath first. It wouldn’t feel nice at all eating dinner while my body feels sticky after whole day of training. After I've done with bath, I saw Mei already prepare the table for us and placed the dishes on top of it.
"Kiana, dinner is ready" she smiled at me and pulled me to sit on dining chair while she went around toward our fridge.
“woahh” I smile widely knowing Mei cooked my favorite, it’s none other than fried chicken. I hear her chuckled while still picking our drinks from the fridge.
After I came back from earth, I couldn’t stop thinking what kind of life I will be living without honkai. Of course I dream about that, but then I start to wonder about Mei. How running daily lives with Mei. The one who always be by my side back then during Nagazora time, St.Freya until our separation after we defeated Kevin. What about now? Is she still wants to be by my side? like forever?
Then I saw her now, I couldn't help but wonder how would it look like if we are a couple and living together under the same roof. We'll do everything together from cleaning the house, watering the plants, playing games together then sleeping toget-.
"cut that out" I stopped my trance of mind and said a bit louder for Mei to hear.
"cut that what?" said Mei while looking at me confuse.
"ahh I mean cut this few strands of hair, this one especially always grow to weird direction, I will cut this one out tomorrow" I said while avoiding her stare. Man, why my mind always drifting to this kind of thought every time I think about Mei.
“I can accompany you if you want to cut your hair, since I’m free tomorrow”
“ahaha, yeah sure”
I hear her steps behind me then she sat right next to me. We were both eating in peace then I started to ask her about her day, about her mission, how her squad members behave and she told me their name are Adam and Carole. She suggested me to meet them soon especially Carole because she gave off the same cheerful vibes like me.
Then eventually she told me about how happy she is right now, especially right now after I came back to earth. It made my heart feels so warm and unconsciously I felt my fingers moved on its own and touched hers. I saw she startled a little bit but didn't remove her hand. Instead, she gripped my fingers tightly and looked at me in my eyes. I still couldn't describe how her eyes are so beautiful and I will never get tired at looking at those purple orbs. Her hand feels so soft and warm, so is her presence around me. It draws me to get closer to her. Our hands clasped with our fingers intertwined. It feels so right this time then I felt her warm breath against my mouth. I saw Mei closed her eyes, drawing closer and closer to my face. Probably she could hear how my heart beats like a loud knock on my front door right now.
Mei retracted her hand abruptly and turned her gaze away from me. I cursed inside for whoever the one who disturbed this super romantic moment, it was so rare for me and Mei to get into this moment because usually my sister spent much of her time after training at home. I told Mei I will take the door and when I opened it, it didn’t surprise me at all for the one who at front door.
