Haunted House (Sashnetra)
Anetra wasn’t really sure how Sasha had talked her into this, but somehow, she found herself wandering through the dimly lit hallway of an unfamiliar house, clinging to Sasha’s hand like Sasha was her life raft. And as far as Anetra was concerned, she was.
Nobody ever believed Anetra when she told them she didn’t watch horror movies because she got scared too easily. Between the resting bitch face, the motorcycles, the scar, and the martial arts, nobody suspected for even a moment that Anetra would be the type to scream and hide under the covers the second a ghost appeared on the screen, and yet.
So the fact that Sasha had convinced her to come to a haunted house? It should have been impossible.
But here she was, half-hidden behind her girlfriend, trying her best not to jump at every clown, zombie, or serial killer that popped out of the shady corners. She was pretty sure she was going to have a heart attack at this rate, but Sasha was having the time of her life.
Right.
That’s why she agreed to come.
Sasha.
Sasha was absolutely perfect. Anetra wasn’t sure quite how she had managed to land someone so wildly out of her league, but she wasn’t about to complain. Even if that meant watching horror movies and being dragged to haunted houses. Because, of course, those were some of Sasha’s very favorite things. And if Sasha would show up for every single taekwondo match, ride around on the back of her motorcycle even though she thought it was scary… Anetra could tough it out through a teenager in a mad scientist costume.
At least, she could with Sasha by her side. And at some point, while Anetra had been distracting herself with thoughts of her girlfriend, the real thing had disappeared, off somewhere in the haunted labyrinth that Anetra would rather not step foot in. But she needed to find her girlfriend, and she didn’t like the look of the tall scarecrow holding a chainsaw standing behind her.
So with a trepidatious step, she moved on to the next part of the haunted house.
“Sash. Sasha! Where are you? This isn’t funny…” Anetra hissed out, wrapping her arms around her torso and glaring at the couple that looked over at the sound.
“Sasha, c’mon. I’m gonna leave…” She tried again, slightly louder this time, walking quicker and avoiding eye contact with any of the actors trying to scare her even more.
She was half-considering making good on her threat, finding the nearest fire exit and ditching Sasha to get through the stupid haunted house herself when she felt an arm snaking around her waist.
Logically, Anetra knew the actors weren’t allowed to touch her. But that didn’t stop her from preparing to use all her martial arts training to take down some kid dressed as a Victorian ghost.
But when she spun around, she came face to face with the wide concerned eyes of her girlfriend.
“I’m so-“ she started, but Anetra cut her off, already moving to bury her face in Sasha’s neck.
“Where were you? I thought… I thought maybe something happened to you. Don’t scare me like that again,” her voice broke slightly and she felt her girlfriend's arms tighten around her.
“I thought you were still behind me, Angel. I’m sorry… c’mon, that’s enough haunted house for me. Let’s get out of here.”
“You owe me cotton candy and caramel corn after that.” Anetra grumbled, but gratefully followed Sasha out of the haunted house and back into the cheerful colors and sounds of the fairground.
