Summary
"Wait!"Rocket's paw paused on the contraption Stark had made. He looked up meeting Thor's gaze curiously, "what?""I..." Thor glanced towards his mother than back at his small companion, "I -I can't go back," he stuttered."What?" Rocket repeated this time in confusion."I can't go back," Thor asserted more firmly.Rocket frowned, "We need you!"Thor shook his head, "No, you don't...you have the Reality stone. Everyone else would have already gotten the others, Stark will make a gauntlet and...Banner can snap his fingers and bring everyone you all love back..." Thor hung his head for a moment and sighed, "Everyone I love is here.""What about New Asgard?""They don't need me-Val's been leading them," he looked up into Rocket's eyes. "Please Rabbit-don't make me go back," Thor whispered brokenly. Steve got to have his happily ever after in the past so I think Thor should have been able to have his family.
Note
When I watched End Game all I could think was "Thor should of just stayed in past Asgard". So I think if Steve can get his happy ending with Peggy in the past than Thor can too. Cause Thor's been through enough shit and he deserves a bit of happiness.

Chapter 2

As promised when Thor returned to the main room Loki was there lounging on the plush sofa by the unlit fireplace reading. Loki turned at his entry making as face, "you won't be needing to wear...THAT anymore. I took a quick trip into your room and spelled some of your garments to a size that would fit you."

Thor looked down at the soft but well-worn fabric he wore, "but it's comfy," he whined.

Green eyes narrowed into slits, "Thor," came a low growl.

"Fine," the big blond conceded with a huff and picked up the clothes that rested on the bed.

He turned to look at his brother, "and take off the glasses- they completely clash with the look," Thor huffed. "Thank you," Loki simply nodded in reply not looking up from his book.

With a great deal of grunting and groaning Thor was finally clothed in the light armor.  Thor wondered over to his brother sitting down across from him. They were going to have to find their father and explain everything-he couldn't allow what happened in his reality to happen in this one. Their family held too many secrets and if they remained all would be lost, "Loki-" a horn sounded announcing trouble in the prisons.

Loki looked up from his book with a frown. The projection of himself remained undisturbed, he focused on his duplicate, seeing through its eyes, "there's a riot in the prisons."

Thor shot to his feet, "dark elves," he hissed lighting crackling along his fingers spreading up his arms. He could feel the storm gathering both within himself and in the skies above.

The younger prince's head tilted in curiosity at the sight of his brother's power-as a small smirk played on his lips. Loki knew that Thor had such potential within him, and this Thor had come in to his own with his storm seiðr- Loki could feel it- a force to be reckoned with, "Explain-quickly."

"They've come for the Aether-it's an infinity stone. The convergence is upon us and they seek to plunge all the realms back into darkness, but the Aether isn't here-not anymore. I sent it back to my reality to help fix what Thanos has done. I didn't think the dark elves would still come but it must have been too late- everything must have already been in motion when I got here. They must think we've masked it somehow..." Thor turned and grasped hold of Loki's shoulders, "you have to find mother! You must protect her! She'll die if you do not!" that was all it took for Loki to sprint from the room donning an illusion of a guard and search out his mother's magical signature.

Thor moved towards the balcony. He watched as the dark elf ships sped towards the energy barrier; any moment now they would get past their defenses. He could do this. Thor closed his eyes for a moment and wished he had brought Stormbreaker with him, but he was on Asgard. Asgard would give him strength. The thunder god gathered the storm and his eyes shone with his power as he opened them- he hadn't felt such power since Ragnarök. As the first ship was destroyed by the shield the blond raced toward the ledge and leapt- drawing the storm's power to propel him further- lighting crackled along his broad form and just as the elven ship passed over the falling barrier, Thor struck.

Landing on its widest section Thor called down lightning. Underneath him the ship crumbled and burned unable to withstand the rage of the mighty thunder god. Thor leapt from the doomed vessel just as it exploded, landing on the last of the smaller ships sending it to the same fate as the others. With the small ships vanquished Thor had eyes for only the large dark elf ship just off the edge of the eternal realm near the Bifrost. Thunder roared as his storm brought him to the bridge with streaks of lighting at his back. Another wave of smaller ships was released but they were nothing against him- reduced to nothing but smouldering ash and metal that hissed as it hit the water. Thor narrowed his blazing eyes as his gaze fell on to the last and the largest of the dark elf ships. With a mighty roar he aimed an immense surge of lighting at the enemy vessel and with a resounding boom the large ship exploded sending out a shock wave that made the sea surge towards the coast before settling back down.

Silence settled around him as Thor allowed his storm to calm; all he could hear was his heaving breath. The blond god turned his gaze towards the palace. Kurse! His family was still within the walls of their home with that beast. He'd forgotten to warn Loki about the creature. He remembered what had happened the last time when Loki intervened when fighting the elven monstrosity even if it was all Loki's plan to be free from his cell. Every one of his deaths hit just as hard as the last. Thor prayed to the Norns that he didn't just replace his mother's death with that of his brother's.
