Part 15

After that night the parents kept the sleuthing on the down low, as per usual. So much of the mystery had been uncovered by them, Olivia couldn’t understand why they were being left out.

Of course there was the issue of safety but the risk was worth the end of this.

There was no fire that night at the maple groves. But something did go down that night. The Register had become the parents’ hub for the mystery, which now they realized, had been discovered. The next morning Betty walked into The Register to discover the door open and the place trashed. Paper and files littered the floor and computers were smashed. A message to stop digging, no doubt.

In a way this was a good sign, it must mean they were getting closer.

As time went on with no word from their parents, the girls continued on their own hunt down in the bunker.

Olivia really believed the root to all of this was her visions. After all another one of hers had just come true at the register.

If she could figure out why they were happening maybe they could crack this whole thing.

She tried to think back to the night before her first nightmare. What had happened that day? Was there anything different? Anything out of the ordinary?

Let’s see… well she was awfully tired. It had been a long day, after school she had gone on a trip to Riverdale’s old prison with her criminal justice class. It was an after school trip where the class got to tour the buildings and experience the justice system first hand. Olivia had really taken to the subject having a mother with her law own firm.

They even got to walk through the cafeteria and recreation area where they saw actual inmates. She remembered one particular older red head catching her eye. And now that she thinks of it, that woman saw her too. Almost staring back into her soul.

That night she had her first nightmare.

Okay new lead, step one: find and talk to that woman.

The buzzer sounds as the lock clicks and the officer lets Olivia into the small room where the familiar redhead sits at a table. Penelope Blossom, she learned her name was, which meant she was her family.

“Quite surprised to see you back, you seemed awful scared when you and your classmates ran through here,”

“Who are you? Penelope Blossom, do you know my mom Cheryl Blossom-Topaz?”

“Oh, silly child. I’m her mother. Your grandmother?”

Cheryl’s monstrous family and her past was another thing the adults kept from the children. As far as Olivia was concerned she thought any extended family had shunned her parents because they were gay.

“You knew who I was? When we came that day?”

“Why of course. I knew you’d come,”

“How did you know?”

“I’m sort of…intuitive that way, I guess you can say,”

Olivia wasn’t sure about these psychic abilities but it makes sense in the grand scheme of things with Olivia’s dreams. Had she inherited these abilities from her grandmother?

“Like…you saw it in a dream?”

“Sometimes,” Penelope replied looking over her chipping nail polish before continuing.

“Our minds are connected, sort of, I’ve had quite an extensive past with witchcraft and was experimenting to try to…get in touch with you,”

“So my dreams…”

“We’re visions of things to come. There’s a lot of people who come in and out of here and a lot of times, when they get out, they go right back to their old ways. Including that Ellio character.”

“So you were what? Trying protect us?”

“I was trying to warn you! This Riverdale, town with pep and its cheery disposition are in jeopardy. Not that I care but your mother and her friends really seem to. They’re staging a break out. The inmates are being released with the promise of work regulating the town into what Hiram needs it to be for Sodale to succeed,”

“So it is Hiram?”

“He’s just using Ellio as his puppet, but Hiram is here and he’s been waiting to make a comeback.”

It’s crazy to think of something like this happening at your front door but to have your family all laced within it? Insane.

That night while getting ready for bed Olivia popped into her parents room.
There she found both her moms in pajamas. Cheryl sat in bed with her book while Toni sat to the other side putting in lotion.

She walked in quietly and stood nervously near the door in her own pajamas. She fidgeted with the hem of her robe waiting for her mothers attention.

After a moment of silence all eyes were on her curiosity peaked at her silence and nerves.

“Mom? Mama?”

She started slowly. They were both already looking to her expectantly.

“Umm…I uh,” she rambled before clearing her throat to pull herself together.

“I saw grandma today,” she finally gets out with her small feign of confidence.

She immediately received a physical reaction. Cheryl took off her reading glasses while Toni scrunched her eyebrows together in confusion.

“Who?”

“Your Mom, Mommy. Penelope Blossom,”

They both continued to stare dumbfounded, neither had heard that name in 15 years.

“W-Wh-where?” Cheryl choked out, clearly thrown off.

Olivia walked further into the room and finally took a seat at the far edge of the bed.

“Well I was thinking…what had I done before getting these dreams. And I remembered we took a trip to the penitentiary. I saw an older woman with red hair there and I didn’t think anything of it even though she was sort of staring at me. But when I looked into it it turned out she was a Blossom.”

The room paused taking on the new information.

“So I saw her again today-“

“-What!” “-Why!”

They interrupted at the same time.

“She told me she was trying to connect with me. Like mentally, she said she was warning us, send me visions of what was to come.”

“For what?” Cheryl scoffed while rolling her eyes at her mothers games.

“For that night at La Bon Nuit. For what happened at The Register. For the breakout they’re staging at the prison.”

“Wait. What breakout?” Toni cut.

“She said she’s heard around that they’re staging a breakout so some inmates can do work for Ellio, and Hiram.”

The moms let out a huff of annoyance of his name.

“She said it’s all been him and he’s just waiting for his moment to strike,”
