Please, no more surprises!
“So” Tony said entering the kitchen and was pretty impressed that Oliver didn’t reacted to his voice. “you know?” Tony asked and went to search for the cups, because it was way too early, or way too late, depending whether you actually go to bed, but Oliver had have already prepared a cup of hot coffee for him.
“Figured there had to be a reason for an early visit” Oliver said, his eyes dark and full of anger “I’m still wondering how Felicity don’t know yet.”
“Yeah, that must’ve been my fault. I kinda deleted the footage and was hoping that nobody saw it.” He took a sip of the coffee and sat in the nearest chair. As he said, it was way too early “You know, you were pretty scary out there talking in Russian and all that” He could see Oliver’s lips slightly shift in amusement “But I’m still going to beat you, I don’t get scared that easily” Tony joked.
“Even without the suit?” Oliver asked and went to the fridge. Tony was really getting to like this man
“Well, the suit and I are one”
So here’s what happened. After team Arrow – Tony chose to name them, because, he couldn’t keep with all the codenames they made for themselves like 12-year-old kids, playing video games, the billionaire decided to take a stroll in the Glades, probably stopping at one abandoned club. He walked in the ex-arrow layer, thinking of a funny first line to break the ice and then threaten Steve and make the soldier leave town or something like this.
However, there was a tiny whole in his game plan. Imagine his surprise though, and just know he didn’t get surprised often, when there was someone there, and he was talking something in Russian. It was no other than his daughter’s boyfriend firing threats at no other but Captain America and Black Widow. He kinda felt proud at that.
If you asked Tony what he thought about Oliver he would say something ‘he’s okay, as long as Felicity’s happy’. He wasn’t that kind of dad that would hate the man just because he was his daughter’s boyfriend. What mattered to Tony was Felicity’s happiness. There was also the fact that Oliver was playing on his team now. Tony didn’t care if it was because the archer actually agreed with him on the whole Accords deal or it was just because Felicity. Either way it was beneficial and that was the most important thing right now.
They had to make a plan, and it had to be fast because he didn’t want Rogers being in town right now. Not when the freak Darkh was also making his moves. They had to figure out what Damien actually wanted to achieve, so they could stop him. Also he had to make some sort of a donation or something like this to the SCPD because, man, all these cops in the city ever did was eating doughnuts, leaving all the crime fighting to the Arrow team. He had to talk to Fury bout this.
He started wondering if he had made a mistake, not pressuring enough Rogers to sign, not telling Felicity why he came here, not proposing to Pepper. No, he was not going to think about that!
“We need a plan” Tony said. He looked around him. It was still safe, they were still alone. Well, of course they were alone! Who the fuck would wake up this early? Not normal people, and definitely not his daughter, so he thought that they could use the time, making a plan to get rid of Rogers. They could deal with Darkh later.
“We need to be seen together somewhere, so Darkh could know I have allies like Iron man” Oliver said. He had buried his head in the fridge, probably wanting to make breakfast.
“We need to deal with Rogers firstly. We need to find out why is he here and why they’re hiding in your ex-club.”
“Tony, you are a genius, I don’t need to tell you why Rogers is here!” Oliver said with a smile but Tony could sense the hostile voice. Oh, the boy was angry, and he liked it. The billionaire fought the smile and tried to stay focused and serious.
“He has to have more reasons for coming here! Why not go to, I don’t know, Wakanda? Nigeria? Hell, they could go to Indonesia or Philippines, some god forgotten Balkan country. Why stay here?”
“I don’t think this is the thing we should concentrate on right now” Oliver said with annoyance and pulled a big bowl and 20 eggs. He started cracking them. Oh, an omelet, Tony wasn’t good in making those.
“Okay, okay, I’ll drop this. You know, she is my daughter, I have to be more concerned for her than you!” Tony decided to calm Oliver but this only seemed to make the boy angrier. “So, we go to lunch together! You could organize a thing, you know, I’m not really a politician, some kind of event where I could show up!” Oliver only nodded. “Okay, it’s decided then. Now tell me why you haven’t popped the question yet!”
With that their conversation ended. Oliver decided to ignore him. Tony continued to talk, telling him about his projects, about Peter, how Felicity had overridden Friday. The boy didn’t talk to him, just nodded occasionally or smiled at something he said. Tony could understand why his daughter seemed to like this boy. He was a really good listener.
If someone had told Oliver 2 years ago that he would have a lunch with Tony fucking Stark because that would increase his rating for the upcoming elections he would have laughed, or would have killed the guy. As you can imagine, he was indeed sitting in a restaurant in downtown, waiting for the said billionaire, trying to understand everything that happened to him after he met Felicity. It was a lot.
His thoughts wandered as he was waiting. He thought about Sokovia, (he was now thinking the whole situation with Slade was like a child’s party) and immediately after that one particular man popped up in his mind. Yes, that man, with the fucking shield.
Oliver tried very hard to calm his nerves as he saw Tony entering the building dressed in a suit but still with that ridiculous pink glasses. There was a trail of photographers and reporters behind him. Oliver tried not to get frustrated, reminding himself that they were doing this, hoping to get Darkh to stop whatever he was planning.
As Tony approached him Oliver wondered if he had to keep it strictly professional, or he should just act with him like in the morning. He decided that he would stand and shake the billionaire’s hand. After all, according to the media, they had only met yesterday. After their formal greetings they both sat down and ordered something to eat. Oliver didn’t know what to talk about with him.
He was anxious and stressed every time he was around Tony. Don’t get him wrong, after all, the man was Felicity’s father. Their talk in the morning was awkward, or more accurately, awkward for Oliver. Tony didn’t seem to act different around him, and after they have made their plan Tony started talking about everything that would pop up in the older man’s mind, much like Felicity.
So he decided to just wait for Tony to start rambling about something.
“Your city is awful!” Tony exclaimed after the waiter had brought him the orange juice that he ordered. “I mean, why would you stay here? I’ve talked to Felicity like a thousand times and every time she just ignored me”
Oliver wasn’t very amused with Tony’s opinion over the city and just glared at him. However, he knew, he knew that the city was crumbling. And despite all the efforts they’ve put, it was still a fact.
“Probably that’s exactly the reason she wants to stay” Oliver answered, his voice a little bit harsh. Tony smiled.
“Well, I have decided to stay here.” The man announced and Oliver could hide the shock “I mean, not forever! Maybe just a few weeks after New Year. I spoke to Pepper, we will use the ‘Maria Stark foundation’ to help the hospitals and the university in the city. Also the SSPD needs some upgrading. I’ve talked to Ross and Rhodey about that. They are in the army, which has nothing to do with the police, of course, but they are willing to help.”
“You can tell that I’ve decided to back you up because of my business here, so that story is solid. If you want me I could talk on your campaign event or something like that. That would higher your rating and even if Damien’s wife doesn’t drop out she would have pretty small chances.”
“And also Darkh will know that the Green Arrow works with Iron Man. Even if he uses magic, he would likely have low chance of beating us at whatever game he was planning.” Oliver said and then smiled. “Thank you, Tony!”
“’Felicity, the magnetic arrow gag will never work!’ Yes, it will, my love, because I’m Felicity Stark! Everything works.” Felicity exclaimed as her phone buzzed.
“Felicity, honey, it’s a little hard to fight with you doing that in my ear!” Oliver’s voice sounded in the layer. Oh, shit, she forgot.
She quickly apologized and took her phone. It was her dad. She smiled. It was kind of nice, having her father in Star City. She couldn’t wrap her mind yet why he would come earlier than expected but she ought to find out. He wasn’t just ‘missing his baby girl’ as he said. She decided not to read much in that as she got another text.
‘I totally rocked my algebra test today!’
She laughed quietly. She had texted Peter yesterday to ask him if the teenager knew anything about Tony’s early visit. Her father hadn’t told him either. She continued texting with him for what seemed like half an hour until she heard the elevator. She glanced up and imagine her shock when she saw Barry. And Cisco. And a girl she didn’t know.
“Barry!” she said and went to hug him “I missed you” she smiled and then remembered “Why didn’t you tell me that Zoom broke your back?” she asked with an angrier voice.
“I’m – ow!” he exclaimed after she hit him “I’m sorry. How’s Rh- um, your uncle?” he asked.
“Oh, he is fine. We’re still trying to find an energy source small enough to fit in a bio stimulant but we’re working on it” she said with a sad smile.
“Okay, Star Labs is impressive but this is- “the girl Felicity didn’t know was starting to say but Cisco cut her.
“This is a robot! Oh my God, Felicity! Is this an AI robot?” he asked as he got closer to Daisy. The robot made an automatic noise and moved her robot arm near Cisco’s face.
“This is Daisy. I built her long time ago but she was damaged because my – “she started saying but decided that saying that the Mandarin blew her dad’s house up wouldn’t exactly explain everything. “It was in MIT until I decided I missed her.” She lied with a smile. She didn’t want to lie, but she guessed it was a little early for Cisco to know her secrets.
“Hi, I’m Kendra” the girl said deciding to interfere their tech talk. Oh, Felicity was so glad.
“Hi, I’m Felicity”
“And I am Thea. This is John Diggle, this is Roy, my boyfriend and this is my brother, Oliver- “
“Oliver Queen, yeah, hi!” the girl said in awe. “Okay, today I met the Flash and the Green Arrow. Do you have any more surprises, Cisco?” the girl – Kendra, asked
“Please, no more surprises!” Cisco said and in that moment the elevator made a sound and her dad stepped in the layer.
“Oh, wow, am I interrupting some high school reunion?” Tony asked and took his glasses off. Felicity could see him scanning the newcomers, not sure whether he remembered Barry or not. “Oh, mister Allan, good to see you!”
“You were totally waiting for a grand entrance, didn’t you?” Roy asked laughing at Cisco and Kendra’s expressions.
“What?” Cisco said, stunned and clearly in awe. “Barry! You know Tony Stark – what the fu-?”
“Hey, hey! Language!” Tony said and Felicity rolled her eyes.
“You know, this language shit is getting pretty old, giving the fact that Rogers isn’t even here!” Felicity said, trying to hide her anger. She looked at Oliver and saw him frown.
“Well, say that to Cap!” Tony smirked and Oliver threw him a glare.
“Well, I’m pretty sure that I would definitely not say that to Steve the next time I see him” She said and decided to go back to her chair. She would feel her dad trying to say something but Oliver beat him, thank god!
“Tony! Not that I’m not glad to see you but what are you doing here?” Oliver asked.
“Well, I got bored in the mansion, talked to Happy, then to Peter, updated your security system, by the way great job, honey, you made it quite unhackable, if that’s even a word and then decided to visit you. So, am I interrupting something?”
Felicity couldn’t lie. It was funny. Yeah, she was a little pissed, some anger still in her body from her father’s words. However, this was priceless.
“Dad, please save the image of Cisco’s face. I feel like I have to make a compilation of people reacting on you showing everywhere in the city!” she said and then all of them laughed. Well, except for Cisco who still was deciding what to say.
“So Kendra” Oliver said deciding to spoil the mood “Barry said you need help. Someone very dangerous is after you” Everyone’s faces become serious for like 0.03 seconds. Even her father erased that grin on his face.
“Yeah, and I don’t even know why.”
“Do you have a name or could you describe him?” Felicity sked turning at her computers, ready to search.
“Wait, hold on!” Barry said and run around the layer to search for something. As soon as he found a white paper and a pen he started drawing. His hand was a blur and after a couple of seconds he had a sketch of the guy.
“You can do that?” her father asked intrigued.
“Yes, he does something I could never think of” Digg said and leaned on the wall. She shot him a sympathetic look, guessing Digg must have thrown up on their way here.
“Felicity, please search for the guy. Kendra, why is he after you?” And that’s it. Oliver was in a game mood. She glanced and met her father’s look. He nodded discreetly and approached her.
“Friday, baby, see what you can find out.” He looked around and after a minute dragged a chair to sit next to her. “You know, you should really buy some more chairs” he said and smiled apologetically. “Honey, I’m sorry!”
“It’s alright dad.” She said and tried to smile. She also tried not to think of a certain super human with super powers and a blue and red shield. Friday spoke and that stopped her thoughts from evolving.
“Boss, I found something. This man has no registered ID. He is wanted for several crimes all around the world. There are a few pictures connecting to him, all taken in different years, from 1975 to 2010.”
“He said we’ve knew each other for centuries but I’ve never seen this man before.”
“But there has to be a connection.” Oliver said looking more pissed than anything else. What was happening? Did Felicity missed something?
“I have no idea, I just moved to Central City six months ago” Kendra said scared. She continued answering Oliver’s questions but with every question her boyfriend became more pissed about something. She decided to stop the upcoming argument but her father beat her.
“Oookay, chill out guys! Oliver!” Tony said and throw an angry look at him “Why don’t we go to the mansion and talk there, right?”
