Chapter 29
They were sitting at the conference table again. Poseidon had told Percy to call all of them together. Percy had to harass a lot of people out of bed which hadn't been pleasant, Thalia had zapped him, Tony had almost punched him before he realized it was Percy but then apologized profusely once he was awake enough to know what happened. Percy had just waved him off telling he'd done much worse, which was true.
He'd accidentally kicked Leo in the ribs, rather harshly once, when Leo had woken him up, he had apologized a lot at first but they had laughed about it later. Percy smiled at the bittersweet memory.
Steve had already been up since the ass crack of dawn stating that old habits die hard. Natasha and Clint had also been awake, talking softly at the beach. He managed to gather everyone in thirty minutes, he and Will had to practically drag the little Italian ray of sunshine called Nico, Percy promised that he'd make him pay later.
Everyone around the table was half-asleep the ones who were awake were looking at him confusedly wondering why he'd called the meeting. He had not told anyone why they'd gathered here figuring he'd tell them all at once.
"Alright everyone! Wake up!" Percy yelled slamming his hand on the table loudly, Nico startled out of his daze and asked, "Why in the Gods' name have you called us so early Perce?"
Percy replied, "The Gods want to tell us something."
Everyone stiffened at those words and at that moment an iris messaged appeared before them, it showed all the Olympians, sitting on their thrones.
The Avengers looked curiously, they had never met any of the Gods except Poseidon.
Zeus began, "Demigods we have been informed that Kronos will be attacking Olympus in a week. The citizens except those who can fight have been evacuated to other islands, you will all be coming here. Your Camp will be under our protection so that no harm will come to it."
The iris messaged swiped away.
"That's all?" Steve asked incredulous. Percy sighed and replied, "The Gods like to be mysterious."
Steve shook his head but Percy warned him not to say anymore, so he shut up even though he was still fuming in his head.
Natasha inspected Percy carefully, he looked troubled, as he said, "Okay, only the campers present here will come, I won't allow anyone below the age of 15. This battle will be more dangerous than any we've faced, and they don't have enough experience, I don't care what they say, if they are 15 or below they are not coming."
Someone opened their mouth to object but Percy cut them off with a sharp glare, "They are kids, let them enjoy, they don't deserve to be haunted like this, this is a safe place."
Everyone around the room agreed with Percy, especially Natasha, she knew how exactly it felt like to be a child soldier, she did not want anyone else to have her past. A hand softly gripped her under the table, she instantly recognized it as Clint's, the archer was staring straight ahead but his hand gripped her's firmly, she squeezed back grateful to have her best friend.
Percy caught the movement and gave her a small smile, she smiled back, he turned towards the others once more, "Alright go pack everyone, we need to get there quickly."
With that everyone dispersed off, including Percy. Percy headed to the Poseidon cabin, taking it in one last time before leaving, despite the memories he knew he'd miss the place dearly. He gave one more glance at the papers in his hand before placing them on the table. He didn't have much stuff so he finished packing in 10 minutes.
He decided to take a walk along the beach once again and picked up his beloved album before heading off.
Steve was finished packing, he packed quickly and efficiently like a soldier, Natasha and Clint were done too, Bruce and Tony were light packers and packed up the little stuff they had into rucksacks. All of them decided to take a walk around the Camp seeing that they still had time.
Tony and Bruce were talking about science versus myth and the powers of the demigods. It was pretty interesting considering the recent developments. Natasha, Clint and Steve were talking about their thoughts on this place. All six of them hated the fact that the children had to fend for themselves and while they were not child soldiers they still had to fight to survive, almost all of them had some kind of sad past.
But the beautiful thing was the family these kids had made for themselves even among battle preparations they were making each other laugh, having fun, and they had a bond of camaraderie which was beautiful to look at. The senior campers would help, advise and have fun with the new ones. It all seemed like one big family.
The five were soon joined by Thor who instantly joined Tony and Bruce's discussion, he claimed that science was essentially just another form of magic, more like rationalized magic. Tony said it made sense but he still wanted to know more about the powers.
They wandered around till they found Nico, Thalia and Percy sitting at the beach. Percy had an album open and Nico and Thalia were laughing over something while Percy was pouting.
"Come on guys, I wasn't that scrawny!" Percy exclaimed.
"Sorry to break your bubble but Percy you really were scrawny." Tony agreed peering over Percy's shoulder at the photo.
Thalia high-fived Tony while Percy muttered, "Traitor."
Then noticing the whole group he asked, "Hey guys whatcha doing here?"
Nat replied, "Well we were done packing so we thought we'd look around and then found you guys, so who's this?" Nat asked pointing at a photo of a Percy and a blond haired boy.
Percy replied, "That's Jason Grace, Thalia's brother. Ooh did you know that when Leo fired those ballistae at the Romans and they started attacking us Jason was knocked down by a brick, seriously."
The next half hour was spent embarrassing each other. At one point Tony asked, "Wait, aren't all the Gods related in some way, so how does dating work here?"
Percy replied, "Well since the God's don't have DNA you can date anyone from another cabin but someone from the same cabin is a no-no."
Right as Tony was about to ask some other question there was a crack of thunder. All the Avengers turned to Thor who simply raised his hand saying, "It wasn't me."
Percy said, "Let's go guys, seems like Zeus is going to teleport us there."
There was another crack of thunder and all of them hurried along to gather their belongings. Once everyone had assembled Percy shouted, "We're ready."
There was a huge crack of lightning which made Steve wince slightly due to his sensitive hearing. A second later they were standing in the throne room. The Gods had all shrunk down to normal size and were seated around a table with Zeus at the head.
"Welcome demigods, please have a seat, leave your belongings at the door," Zeus ordered.
All of them obliged most looking open mouthed at the throne room, it was truly impressive with the Grecian columns and the ceiling which showed the night sky with all its constellations. Zeus cleared his throat once more to call them to attention and everyone hastily sat down.
Athena then began, "Demigods and mortals," she said acknowledging the Avengers, "You already know why we are here. Let us get started with the plans right away. Firstly, Percy we want you to lead us. Do you accept?"
Percy looked shocked but then surprisingly it was Zeus who said, "You proved that you can lead and command an army very well, so we want you to lead us."
Percy glanced around the throne room, his father smiled proudly encouraging him, same with Tony. Thalia and the others nodded at him, he took a deep breath, he already knew he was going to be the one to confront Kronos, but he hadn't thought he'd be the one leading.
"I'll do it."
Athena smiled at him then continued, "Now that he has agreed, here are the battle plans, make any changes that you deem necessary. For now you can all go to your rooms, we will meet again in the evening."
They all rose up and the Gods exited only Poseidon, Hermes, Apollo and Artemis stayed behind.
Artemis went to Thalia, "The Hunt is already here, but I want you to stay with Percy. He needs all the help he can get."
Thalia nodded and bowed as the Goddess exited.
Hermes and Apollo hugged Percy, "Well cuz, good luck. If you need anything just yell."
Hermes said something along similar lines and they both left. Poseidon called them all together and led them to their rooms. There was a huge common room with two doors leading off to the side, one obviously for the boys and the other for girls.
Inside they each had their own rooms, which Percy was grateful for. Poseidon left soon but not before he told Percy, "Tyson will be coming soon."
Percy's face lit up with joy, he hadn't seen his baby brother in a long time and was excited to see him again.
Once everyone had placed their belongings and gathered in the common rooms they divided themselves into groups and set about touring the place.
