Chapter 27
"All right guys! They asked for it- Demigods attack!" Was the last thing Percy yelled before all hell broke loose as both armies clashed headfirst.
Percy ran leading the charge, the Minotaur was speeding towards him first. Percy smirked and sprinted faster, gaining a head start he kicked high off the ground, jumping straight onto the creature's chest. The minotaur thrashed around trying to dismount him but in the process crushing other monsters, Percy could only hope that his friends were safe.
Percy climbed on to it's head. He drove his sword deep into the Minotaur's head and swung it downwards creating a huge gash. The monster turned into dust as Percy was sitting atop it.
Shit, Percy thought as he fell through the air. He was panicking before something, or rather someone caught him by the arm.
"Thanks Tony," He yelled out to the man. Tony simply gritted his teeth and replied, "It hasn't even been a minute yet Percy be careful for God's sake!"
The kid had nearly given Tony a heart attack when he saw Percy falling out of the sky. Tony simply hoped that he would have enough common sense now. He dropped Percy off near a camper before flying away dodging the horrors called Greek Monsters.
Steve put his shield in front of him ducking from yet another attack from a viscous fire breathing Hydra. Natasha was dodging tentacles left and right too. He mused the irony of it while ducking beneath yet another tentacle.
"Any ideas Cap?" Natasha yelled. He thought about the Greek myths of how the Hydra had been defeated and an idea sparked into his mind. He flipped his javelin which immediately turned into a sword.
"I'm chopping the head's off, use the bites to burn the stump, but we'll have to be fast." He explained quickly. Natasha nodded firing her bites.
Steve gave himself a moment before running towards the hydra, when he got close enough he swung his sword and with a thump a head landed near him. Trying not to look at it he yelled at Nat to hurry.
Two quick blasts later the stump had been signed.
"Any help here?" A voice yelled across the battlefield, Percy recognized it as Reyna's. He hurried over slashing the monsters who dared to intercept his path.
When he reached, he saw that she was surrounded by 4 hellhounds. Sure Rey-rey was badass but even she couldn't take down, 4 hell hounds all be herself. He jumped on one of the hellhounds back slashing through it before the monster even knew he was there.
The other three who were just watching till then leapt into action at once, Percy and Reyna fought back to back fending off the monsters, Reyna managed to kill two in one lucky swoop and the both of them killed the third one together.
"Thanks Perce, I'm gonna head over to Clarisse, looks like she needs some help."
Percy just yelled back, "She won't like that." But Reyna's reply was lost as the noise of the battle hit him back full force.
He took a moment to breath and surveyed the field, no one was fatally wounded, yet, as far as he knew.
The archers were doing a marvellous jobs from their hiding spots. The Avengers were fighting well too, with Steve and Natasha teamed up, Tony flying above helping anyone who required it, the Hulk was battling it out with a dracenae and seemed as though he was winning. Thor was a force to be reckoned with himself but paired up with Thalia, those two were absolutely destroying the army.
Percy grinned seeing Loki looking like he was having the time of his life, he would pop up at random places and kill monsters, all the while looking absolutely fierce and badass, no hair out of place and dishing out sassy one liners. Percy shook his head and focused back on the battle. The campers were holding their own too.
Percy scanned the field for any signs of Kronos, and frowned, there was no sign of him.
All of a sudden Percy staggered slightly as the earth trembled, all the noises in the battlefield ceased as everyone's attention turned to a huge crack breaking through the ground.
Percy stood frozen for a second before he hurried towards it, most of the campers were thankfully smart and quickly took advantage of the diversion to kill the monsters near them. Percy stood up front with Thalia, Nico and the Avengers once again flanking him.
The earth trembled even more violently and out of the crack burst a hundred new monsters. Percy froze, they were hilariously outnumbered now, even without Kronos. Unless......Percy grinned as an idea sparked in his mind. There was just the crack in the earth between them and the monsters. Percy prayed his stupid idea would work. He seriously hoped it did.
The lead monster, Percy couldn't remember it's name yelled, "Ready to meet your end Percy Jackson."
Percy simply yelled back, "Oh definitely but not now, for now we have some monsters to burn."
With that he focused on the water in the ocean, he tried to carry the water here by the sheer force of his will. During that he said to Thalia and Thor, "When I say hit it, blast the water with electricity."
They both although confused nodded. The monsters watched him in amusement, waiting for his plan to fail. He drenched them all in gallons of sea water.
One of the monsters taunted, "Trying to drown us, sea spawn, won't work with so less water."
He simply smiled and making sure the water covered every monster yelled, "Now Thalia and Thor!"
The sky turned dark as both summoned the largest amounts of electricity possible, the monsters realized what was about to happen a little too late and they tried to run but Percy used water to bind them to their places.
There was a huge sizzling noise as electricity hit the water, creating a small explosion which rocked everyone back, Percy lost control of the water which flooded back down. The cries of the disintegrating monsters were lost to the sizzling of electricity.
After they were sure there was no more danger everyone slowly got back on their feet.
"Is everyone all right?" Percy asked to the crowd. He spotted the familiar faces sighing with relief as no one was fatally injured, sure all had minor cuts or bruises but that was expected.
Percy received dazed nods in reply and once again Tony checked over the area to make sure no monster was left. After Tony affirmed them that the area was clear they all headed back talking softly and tending to wounds.
Thalia patted him on the back, laughing, "Oh My Gods Percy! You have the stupidest ideas! How did you even think of that?"
The rest of the troop listened in as well
Percy smirked and replied, "I don't know it just popped into my mind. Maybe...it was some God or Goddess helping me out? But this plan seems too stupid to come from them."
Nico laughed, "It sure has a special brand of stupid Perce."
Tony approached Percy who now hung back from the crowd. "Hey, kid, you alright?" He asked softly.
Percy's head snapped up a defensive retort already on his tongue but his eyes softened when he saw it was Tony who spoke. He didn't mind being called kid by Tony.
"Yeah, I'm fine, just......" He trailed off thinking about Kronos, why hadn't he showed up, or maybe this was just part of a bigger plan.
Percy's vision suddenly blurred and the ground swayed as a cold, heavy and now familiar voice spoke in his mind. Very good Perseus, you have passed the test, but I'm afraid this time no one can prevent the destruction of the Gods, I hope they are ready. Good luck, you have a week,
"Percy? C'mon Percy talk to me! Percy!"
Tony yelled out at Percy managing to catch him just in time before he hit the ground. He propped Percy against him, trying to get his attention but nothing worked. He did not understand what was happening, one second Percy was fine answering his question and the next second he'd just collapsed.
Tony shouted at the others to get their attention, "Guys! Cap! Get over here, quick! Percy isn't responding." As soon as he finished the last word Percy suddenly jolted up.
Tony restrained him slightly and said, "It' alright Percy, you're safe, you're here." After a little more of calming down Percy sat back down, a little embarrassed.
Percy's knees felt like jelly and his fingers trembled, Tony thankfully saw this and smoothly said, "Why don't you guys go ahead? Percy and I something to discuss," Steve looked like he wanted to argue but from a glare by Natasha and a warning glance from Tony he backed off.
The campers left immediately though Thalia, Nico, Reyna, Clarisse and the others threw him looks saying that he'd better explain later.
Once Tony was sure they were all out of earshot he asked, "How about we take this inside, huh?"
Percy nodded gratefully and Tony helped him up, by now the shaking had receded yet Krono's voice still echoed in his mind. They didn't talk on their way to the cabin and Percy was grateful for that, he needed a few moments to organize his thoughts.
"So? Mind explaining why you suddenly felt the need to high five the ground?" Tony broke the heavy silence trying to make a joke but it felt flat.
Percy sighed and told him what Kronos had said. He watched the man carefully for a reaction. First Tony seemed sacred but newfound determination replaced it immediately.
"Don't worry Percy, this Kronos won't know what hit him. You have all of us, he doesn't stand a chance!" He clapped Percy on the shoulder and continued, "Now we have plans to make, let's go."
Percy gave the man a real smile which Tony committed to memory since they were rare. True Percy had started laughing and smiling more but such genuine, smiles were still rare.
"Can you call a meeting of the counsellors and senior campers quickly? I'll be right along." Tony was confused at Percy's request but nodded and left quickly.
Back in the cabin, Percy created a water spray from the now restored fountain in his cabin and threw in a drachma.
"Hey Fleecy, do me a solid and show me Poseidon, uh...wherever he is."
A moment later the screen shimmered and Poseidon came into view. He looked troubled and as soon as he saw Percy he asked, "Are you alright Percy? Oh and that was an amazing idea. Amazing but stupid probably."
Percy smiled at the praise and ignored the last part, "Thanks dad but I have some news." And he relayed the warning once again to his father. Poseidon's expression grew troubled.
"I was afraid of this happening, Percy." He admitted.
Percy's eyes widened, "You knew this would happen?" The faint accusation was not missed by Poseidon who hurriedly explained.
"No, I did not know about the attack on Camp but there is some troublesome news from the underworld which is backing up Kronos' warning. I'm afraid you might not like it, Percy."
Poseidon looked hesitant but Percy raised an eyebrow, "And what is it dad?"
