Rouge Avengers
Tony had been really stressed recently. More stressed than anyone had ever seen him before, and that's saying a lot for Pepper, Rhodey and Happy.
Peter had no idea why he was so stressed. No one would tell him why either, which annoyed him. He hated when people treated him as a kid, even if he still was one.
At first, he didn't take too much notice of it, just assuming it was Mr Stark on another one of his sleepless adventures. But then a week passed and he was no different. If anything, he was getting even more stressed.
Peter was getting very worried, and not knowing meant he couldn't do anything to help Mr Stark. Not in a way that would be permanent.
So for now, he would stick with trying to distract Mr Stark. Usually, he would help him in the workshop, or they would watch movie and shows.
Currently, Peter was in Chemistry. Mr Harrington droned on about polymers. Peter tuned him out, already knowing all of this.
If he wanted, he could be in college. Mr Stark had been pestering him, trying to get him to go to MIT. He politely told him no, wanting to have some sort of normalcy in his life.
Slowly, he started to drift off, trying to get some much needed sleep after only getting 3 hours this morning. He had been out very late as Spider-Man. Crime never stopped so he tried not to as well. However, he needed rest, or he would do more harm than good.
He was nudged awake by his girlfriend, MJ. She raised an eyebrow at him, wordlessly telling him to talk.
"I was out late. Barely managed to get 3 hours of sleep," he whispered to her.
"You need to get more sleep," she replied in her monotone voice, but affection could be seen in her eyes.
"Well I was trying, until I was rudely interrupted."
Michelle just smirked.
After another 30 minutes, the bell sounded for the end of class and the school day. Peter and Michelle were the last to leave; everybody else having left as quickly as possible.
They started walking through the corridor, heading for the doors out of school. Michelle was reading a book whilst Peter has 1 earphone in, listening to music.
"Hey, you coming to the tower?" Peter asked as he bobbed his head to the beat of the song.
"Yeah. Sounds good, loser," Michelle responded, not even glancing at him as she continued reading.
Once they got outside, they waited for Happy to come pick them up. They didn't have to wait long, as he soon pulled up in front of them, exasperatedly telling them to get in quickly.
The ride to the tower was quick, each focused on their own things, sitting in a comfortable silence.
Traffic was very fast today, so they made their journey in just over 20 minutes. The 2 teens got out of the car, thanking Happy as they did, and walked into Stark Tower, going straight to the elevator.
"Good Afternoon Peter, Miss Jones. Where would you like to go?" The friendly voice of Friday sounded throughout the elevator.
"Good afternoon to you too, Friday. take us to the penthouse please," replied Peter.
A hum was heard and they started heading up. Michelle had put away he book and was leaning on the back wall.
"So what are we doing?" Michelle asked, glancing at Peter.
"We're baking."
"You're super delicious, triple chocolate goo-ey cookies?" A spark of joy lit up in Michelle's eyes. They were her favourite
"Yep," Peter said with a big smile on his face, popping the P.
The elevator dinged, and they stepped out onto the empty penthouse floor. Nothing unusual. Stark was probably in his workshop and Pepper was still in her office.
The pair headed to the kitchen, throwing their bags on the sofa as they walked past.
They started getting all the ingredients and equipment out that they would need, both knowing the recipe by heart.
"Friday, play our cooking playlist." Instantly, the kitchen was filled with the sound of P!nk.
For the next 2 hours, they worked in unison. Measuring and mixing the ingredients, baking them, getting into mini food fights.
By the time they were finished, there was floor in both of their hair. Cocoa powder covered the front of Peter's trousers from where Michelle threw it at him. There were 2 hand prints of floor on Michelle's ass from when they had an impromptu make-out session, waiting for a batch of cookies to finish.
They both flopped onto the sofa, MJ's head resting on Peter's lap. Instinctively, one of his hands started running through her curls, the other was feeding hismelf some of the warm cookies.
Suddenly, Peter's spider-sense flared, causing him to tense up. His eyes frantically searching for the danger, using his enhanced senses to help. His eyes picked up the noise of the elevator rising.
Getting into a defensive stance, he pulled MJ behind him. The elevator dinged, and the doors slowly opened up, revealing the Rogue Avengers.
Mj's usual blank face now showed her emotions; worry and even a bit of fear. She knew what Captain America had done. Peter rambled and spilled what happend after a nightmare he had. He had also shown her the video. The fear in Stark's eyes was haunting.
The Rouge's noticed the 2 teens and started whispering, thinking one of them couldn't hear.
"Who are they?"
"You think he's Stark's?"
"Probably one of Stark's from his one night stands."
"Where even is Stark?"
"Probably somewhere drunk."
Michelle could feel Peter's muscles tighten even more underneath her fingers. Obviously they weren't saying anything nice. Finally, they addressed the teens.
"Who are you guys?" Natasha asked.
"Doesn't matter. It's none of your business," came Peter's quick response.
"It does actually. You could be here to kill Stark," Natasha countered, spitting out Stark's name like it was venom.
Peter laughed at that, confusing the Avengers. "Yeah, like you even care about Mr Stark. Don't bother pretending."
"Look son-"
"Fuck you,' Peter's sharp response interrupted Captain America, leaving him shocked. "Why are you even here?"
"That doesn't concern you, son," Cap replied condescendingly.
"Bullshit! It does concern me. I'm not going to let you hurt Mr Stark again, like you did in Siberia! And don't call me son," Peter angrily said, images of what Cap had done to Mr Stark flashed in his mind.
Surprise and confusion was shown on the Rogue Avengers. Clearly they didn't know what Cap had done.
"Oh, you haven't told them, have you? I mean, why would you after you tried to kill your friend!" Peter's voice began to raise near the end.
Nobody spoke for a few seconds. Then, simultaneously they all shouted, "You did fucking what?!"
Before Steve could answer and explain himself, Tony walked into the room, looking displeased.
"I thought I told you to go to the conference room. Now, I'm not too sure about you guys, but the conference rooms I'm used to have a big table with lots of chairs, not a penthouse with highly expensive furniture," behind the glasses, his eyes burned holes into all the Rouge Avengers skulls, not that they knew it.
"Sor-"
"Yeah look, I don't care," interrupted Tony. "Just go down to the conference room and wait for me. I'll be down in a couple minutes."
The Rogue's did as they were told, silently going back inside the elevator, disappearing behind the doors.
Tony rubbed a tired hand over his face, then turned to Peter and Michelle. "Hey kid," he said, ruffling Peter's hair. "Jones," he nodded to the girl.
"So that's why you've been so stressed," Peter realise, his muscles finally relaxing.
"Maybe," Tony snatched a cookie from the pile, taking a bite. He walked into the elevator, ready to head down and talk with his former friends. "These are delicious, Pete," he said just before the doors closed.
