Chapter 34
"That's not your business." My eyes flick to Thor's hammer then back to Odin's face in the span of a second and he notices.
"Ah, I see. You were unaware that I could wield the Mjölnir."
"Wasn't expecting you to be worthy enough, honestly."
"Hm, yes. It is quite the requirement, isn't it? I am increasingly grateful that I am exempt from it due to being the one who put it on the Mjölnir in the first place. Are you worthy of it?"
"No clue."
"Let us see, shall we?" He throws it at me and I can't dodge it because of the people behind me so it slams into my chest, knocking me onto my ass with a grunt despite having braced myself for the hit. My head slams onto the floor and leaves me seeing stars.
"Mom!"
"Rogue!" I feel the hammer soar off of me and quickly get to my feet, too quickly as I have to brace myself against a wall.
"Yer bleedin', Cap'n," Tex says and I ignore him for now, looking at Odin, who was holding the Mjölnir again.
"That did not give me the result I was hoping for. What are your intentions with my son, Thor? Is it to take the Mjölnir so you may harness his power?"
"No thanks, pal. I've already got my own shit going on. Wasting my time trying to lift that thing ain't worth it."
"Then what are your intentions?" I glance at Loki and see that he looked hurt despite hiding it. "With either of my sons?"
"Well, do you truly want to know?" I step forward again and he looks at me, at the bottom of the stairs while I stop a few steps away from him.
"Yes."
"To put it simply..." I glance at Loki behind me and we make eye contact while I grin slightly at him before looking at Odin again. "Hello. My shortened name is Rogue Fletch. I'll be your daughter-in-law soon because I'm marrying Loki." He looked shocked and the whole room was silent.
"I do not believe you. Why would anyone wish to marry Loki when they could marry Thor?" I glance at Loki again and see that he looked more hurt while Thor looked uncomfortable, trying to console his brother stealthily. I look at Odin again and he looks back at me.
"One moment." He nods and I punch him in the face, making him stumble.
"ROGUE!" I look at Loki with a raised eyebrow and he had wide eyes, looking terrified. "What is the matter with you?"
"Oh, nothing. I was tired of listening to him talk shit about you. So, I dealt with it."
"In the most idiotic way possible!"
"Meh." I look at Odin again and block the Mjölnir with my arm, stopping it with a deafening crack of the bones in my arm.
"Father, I beg you-"
"No son of mine will beg," Odin cuts Loki off sharply and he falls silent for a moment before coming over to us.
"Then I shall act instead." He punches Odin in the nose and I nod slightly in approval.
"Nice one."
"Thank you."
"I see you've been practicing with Thor."
"Yes, I have." I push Loki to my side and kick a guard in the stomach. "Thank you."
"No way in any of the Hells am I letting them get you." He punches another guard in the face and shakes his hand out slightly.
"How do you not hurt yourself?"
"No clue." I notice Odin had the others blocked off somehow and feel the ground rumble beneath our feet. "The Hell..." The floor we're on starts to rise and I barely manage to keep my balance, holding onto Loki's leathers when he almost falls.
"Father! Stop this nonsense!" Thor yells and the part that Loki's on crumbles beneath his feet, making him start to fall. I quickly catch his wrist and struggle slightly to pull him back up.
"What the Hell is wrong with your Father?"
"Many things." The floor starts to crumble beneath us slightly and I lose my balance, falling to my hands and knees as my breathing hitches slightly. "Rogue...? Are you alright?"
"I, uh... I kinda have this thing about heights and... And unstable ground..." I whisper with a slight gulp and he gently grabs my face, making me look at him.
"You will be fine. Because I am here for you. Do you understand?" I nod a bit and he nods back. "Good. Now. How shall we get down from here? Because Father will not let us down any time soon." I look down carefully and think.
"This is a test?" He nods and I carefully move so I'm sitting with my legs hanging over the edge. "Then... We just wait until the time's up..." He sits next to me and we don't do anything else, just sitting in silence.
The pillar suddenly disappears beneath us and we're going through a portal before we land on the ground with a thud. "Wha' the Hell d'ya think yer doin'?" Yondu bellows from the doorway and I was trying to get air back in my lungs since I hit the floor hard on my back, Loki on top of me.
"Well-"
"Not you!" The Captains, minus Krugarr, and First Mates yell and I give them a thumbs-up, getting to my feet after Loki gets to his.
"Who are you, people?" Odin asks and they come over to me and Loki, glancing at me.
"We're with her," Doc says simply as they cross their arms over their chest and I smirk slightly. "What happened to your head, Rogue?"
"Jackass threw the Mjölnir, Thor's hammer, at me and I busted my shit on the floor. Gonna be pissed if it fucked my tattoos up," I mutter and Loki gives me an annoyed look. "What? They're dope." He rolls his eyes and I roll mine in return, looking at Odin again.
"Who are these people to you, Loki?" He looks surprised and thinks about the answer to that, not sure. "I see. How... Disappointing, yet expected." Loki looks hurt about that and turns his head away slightly.
Yondu snaps his fingers and we all look at him. "Tha' boy is with us."
"Meaning?"
"He is a part of our group," Segs says simply and Odin scoffs.
"Once again, meaning?" I step toward him and Odin raises his staff off of the floor slightly to prepare for a fight. I stay out of his reach with it and look at the Mjölnir in his other hand. "What is it that you want now?" I glance at my Misfit Family and turn back to him with a mimick of Yondu's knife smirk.
"This group is my family, my crew is my family, too. Loki is my man and is joining my family. That's what they mean when they say he's with us. So if you ever try to capture him again, we'll shove that fancy staff of yours so far up your ass you'll be chewing on the end of it."
"Is that so?"
"Yeah." He raises the staff again and a surge of power comes flying for me. I cover my face with my arms and brace myself as roots come from between the cracks in the floor, forming a shield in front of me.
The surge destroys the shield and sends the roots at me in an explosive way. I slide backward slightly and let out a short huff of breath, looking at Odin. "Seriously?"
"How were you capable of that?" I notice guards and Valkyries coming in from all of the entrances.
"Carefully," I smirk coldly and notice Thor and Loki moving closer to me. "What's up?"
"Father is preparing for battle..."
"With us?" He nods slightly and I scoff sharply, shaking my head slightly. "Odin!"
"Yes?"
"We didn't come here looking for a fight!"
"Yet, you initiated one."
"I've had enough people that I care about being taken away from me, it's not happening anymore!" He rests his staff on the floor and looks at me closely. I was inadvertently guarding Loki with my body and he throws the Mjölnir at his head. I move closer to him and try to catch it as I brace myself better, sliding back slightly at the force it hits my chest with.
"UGH!" I grunt and can feel that my ribs are messed up for sure now, panting softly as I hold it at my side by the handle.
"That was a more welcome result." I look at him and narrow my eyes, tossing it to my other hand seamlessly.
"How about this for a fucking result, asshat?" I spin it slightly before throwing it for his head and he catches it easily. "Well... That was anti-climactic..."
"Very," Loki agrees drily and I let out a short, nervous chuckle. "Do you understand why I did not want him to know about us now?"
"Yeah, I do." Odin sends another surge of energy through his staff and I try to make another shield, failing. "Ah, shit..." I get hit in the side with it and get sent flying across the room. I activate my boots and lessen the impact with the wall, but still hit it hard, crumbling to the floor with a grunt.
"Mom!" Gamora's way is blocked by guards and I struggle slightly as I get to my feet, side bleeding as my clothes had a hole through them. My body had one too but it healed quickly.
"How are you capable of that level of healing? Are you not from Midgard?"
"Where?"
"Terra," Thor supplies simply and I lean against the wall slightly, noticing a large pool of blood where I was just laying.
"I'm from there. And it isn't any of your damned business how I can heal the way I can. So fuck off." He looks at me quizzically as I limp back over to Loki and he nods slightly. "What?"
"You are the one who has wiped out nearly all of the Kree. Why are you not using your true name?"
"And what would that be?"
"Raziah Eymadra."
"Eymadra is the name of a Valkyrie," Loki looks at me then at Odin. "What do you know that we do not?"
"A great deal," He says simply with a cocky smirk on his face and it pisses me off as I start to go toward him.
"Oh, you cocky son of a-" I cut myself off with a hiss as pain erupts from my side and I grab it slightly, panting slightly through the pain.
"Rogue, are you alright?" I give Loki an annoyed look and he steps back slightly.
"I got a fucking hole blasted in my side! What the fuck do you think?"
"That you are slightly alright...?" He tries and I glare at him. "I am going... To be quiet now..."
"Good idea." I fix my glasses and look at Odin again, pissed. "Now, as I was saying, you're a cocky son of a bitch. If it is alright with you, I'd like to stop fighting because it's useless. I'll apologize for punching you, too by the way."
"Very well." He comes over to me and hands Thor back the Mjölnir. "I am Odin Borson, the King of Asgard and the Protector of the Nine Realms. You are?"
"Oh boy," I mutter under my breath and try to stand straighter, causing pain to erupt from my side again but I push through it to tower over Odin. "To keep this short, I'm Rogue Fletch, the Captain of the Shadowblade and a Celestial. I'm going to be your daughter-in-law soon enough. So... How about we don't blast holes in each other, yeah? Cuz this," I gesture at my side. "Not cool."
"My apologies." A woman with long red hair comes in and I look at her closely.
"Mother," Thor and Loki greet with a bow of their heads and she smiles at them.
"Thor, Loki." She looks at me and smiles gently. "Hello."
"Hi... Quick question."
"Yes?"
"You gonna try and kill me too?"
"I beg your pardon?"
"Odin over there, y'know, the King, tried to kill me. Because I didn't let his goons take Loki. And the fact that no one ever likes my charm. Ever. So... Yeah."
"Odin." She looks at him and he looks back at her.
"Frigga, it was necessary."
"Uh, you also shattered my arm. With the Mjölnir. And probably broke my ribs. Before blasting a hole in my side."
"I still believe that you have ulterior motives."
"Y'know, if you were less suspicious of me, we could get along. I get along with these jackasses fairly easily." I motion towards the Captains and First Mates, who just roll their eyes and scoff.
"Um, Cap'n?" Tex was standing behind me and I look at him. "D'ya want 'elp with yer arm an' ribs?"
"My ribs should be fine soon. I think... I will take some help with my arm, though." He nods and digs around in his satchel that he carries around with all of his medical equipment. He takes a picture of it first and looks at it with Doc Strange.
"Yeah... You need surgery to fix that."
"Great... Then never mind."
"Cap'n."
"For now. It should be healed better by the time we leave. I think..." Frigga and Odin were watching me interact with the two Lead Meds and Gamora comes over with Quill.
"Quill won't stop squirming." I gently take her and settle her on my still sore side. She wasn't happy with me and I rest my forehead against hers, calming her down a bit.
"Wha's wrong, Girl?"
"Nothing, Gramps. She's only going on one, she's gonna be like this." Frigga looks at the two of us and I notice. "Right, I'm sorry. Um, I'm Rogue."
"I am Frigga Freyrdottir, the Queen of Asgard. It is a pleasure to meet you. Who is your little one?"
"Ah, um... This is Quill..."
"May I?" She motions to Quill and Quill leans toward her a bit so I carefully hand her over. "Who is her father?"
"Loki," Odin says simply and Frigga looks slightly surprised but nods.
"I see. Are you helping her?"
"Yes, Mother, I am."
"Lovely. And the other children?"
"Um..."
"Loki acts as our Dad cuz our real is dead," Kraggles explains and I pat his head gently.
"I see. I am sorry."
"He died before we met him. Mom was-"
"Hey, hush," Petey scolds softly and Kraggles shuts up. "Sorry, Mom."
"It's fine." Frigga gives Quill to Loki and goes to talk to Odin softly.
"You are much too tall," Loki complains softly and I look at him before I just pick him up.
"Better?" I smirk and he glares at me slightly.
"Put me down." I shrug one shoulder and do that while Quill was giggling a lot.
"Quill thought it was hilarious."
"She believes that everything is, Rogue."
"Hm, I guess so."
"How is your mother, Rogue? It has been around ten years since we last saw her," Frigga says and I look at her, confused.
"I think it's been longer than ten."
"How many do you believe it has been?"
"Thirty-one."
"It has been ten. Your mother was a Valkyrie for some time," Odin explains simply and I don't respond for a moment, not sure how to.
"My mother died when I was three. Thirty-one years ago."
"No, she did not. We have requested Heimdall to look for her and transport her here."
"No, no, no... I went to her funeral. Her body was in the casket. That got buried. She's dead." I notice Tex looked uncomfortable and look at him. "Got something to share?"
"The one in tha' thing ain't yer Momma, Cap'n..."
"Then who is it?"
"Ah ain't sure... One 'a m'Daddy's enemies?" He shrugs a bit and I look at him. "A Skrull..." He explains to make sure I understand and I don't respond, just confused at this point.
