Summary
After leaving the small town of WestView, residing in a cabin far out from society, Wanda takes a step-back to focus on herself. Dina Proctor had never seen Wanda Maximoff with her own eyes, but she already formed her opinion on the woman when her mother, Sarah, was a part of the West View incident. Stumbling across a cabin with a friendly stranger she would have never known she'd meet the very woman she feared.

Chapter 1

𝐼𝑇 𝐻𝐴𝐷 𝐡𝐸𝐸𝑁 8 months after the incident that took place in the small town of West View. Many of the town's residents have moved on with their daily lives. Some even moved out of West View all together just to avoid staying in a place that haunts them. Dina's family was one of the few that moved as far away as possible. Although Dina herself was not trapped in the hex, her parents and little sister were. When Dina arrived at the scene after Wanda fled, her father announced, "It's time to move."

Dina wasn't opposed to the idea of her family moving out of state, but they ended up in the town of East Transia. They not only moved to a small compacted town again, it was all the way in Eastern Europe. Her eight-year old sister, Ellie, had to transfer schools as well. Dina supposed the nice thing about it was the landscaping. At the outskirts of the town there were a few small villages at the base of Mount Wundagore. Dina would only be staying with her family for a few weeks at most. She wanted to make sure they got settled in nice and if Dina was being honest- she could use this as a small vacation.

Before her parents sold their house, they took part in active therapy sessions. It pained Dina to see her mother and father go through such mental trauma. What set Dina off the most was how Ellie was locked in her room- unable to come out until the hex was lifted. She'll always remember the name of the woman who held her family hostage. Wanda Maximoff. A woman who once fought alongside the Avengers and protected civilization.

That was what Dina was told as far as who Wanda was. Dina never saw Wanda Maximoff with her own eyes, so if she were to try to spot her in a crowd- it would be rather difficult. Her mother never really went into detail about Wanda, so Dina never asked. In her opinion, if Wanda was someone who protected others, then she must have a pretty shitty way of showing it. All Dina knew was Wanda had projected her own grief onto others so she could live out the reality she wanted. Even with all of the anger in Dina, if she were to ever stumble across the other woman, fear would be the only thing she felt.

Along the quiet Transian Mountain Range, resided a small cabin that was cut off from the villages and town on the other side of Mount Wundagore. Wanda Maximoff lay asleep in her soft silk sheets, her red hair displaced all over her pillow. Peaceful mornings like these were Wanda's favorite. She could lay in bed all day and not a single person could tell her to get up. Of course, Wanda wouldn't stay in bed all day- that wasn't something she liked to do. Wanda preferred to make the most of her days, whether it be cleaning up or doing yard work outside. There were times when her physical body would do tasks while her astral projection would be reading the contents in the Darkhold. This was the time to learn about her magic, rather than harm others in the process.

After making a cup of herbal tea, Wanda sat on the front porch like she did almost morning. She took a deep breath of the cool air, staring out into the open field. It had been months since the incident in West View, but Wanda still thought about it from time to time. Even though Wanda gave up the family she created, she was glad that the suffering had ended to the town's residence. It was high-time Wanda accepted reality and moved toward the future rather than the past. Vision's words to her was what kept her going. She would always love Vision, but he was right. He was nothing more than a memory just as Pietro. Her brother, especially, would want his sister to live a happy and full life. So, Wanda would do so- for them and only them.

Wanda wasn't sure how long she had been sitting on her front porch, but after a while the sun was shining brightly down on the cabin with a radiant heat flowing through the air. Wanda remembered she had much more planned for the day. Standing up from her spot on the porch, the young woman walked back inside her cabin, placing her mug on the kitchen counter. She walked toward her bedroom, briefly glancing at the clock. Once reaching the dresser, Wanda grabbed clothing that she wouldn't mind getting wood shavings on. Quickly changing not wanting to waste a beautiful day, Wanda took one peak at her nightstand which had a small parchment paper leaning against the lamp. It was one line that read:

What is grief, if love not perservering.

Wanda smiled, recalling the words Vision had said to her. It served as a reminder to keep moving forward everyday and things will get better. Wanda was done forcing things to happen and what the future had in store for her would be worth the wait.
