Not in that way

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Having to be constantly on the run was tiring. Never sticking to one place, never meeting new people, never leaving her side. Not that she minded, but it would be nice to not see Wanda for a bit. It wasn’t like she hated Wanda, quiet the contrary actually – she loved Wanda too much.

“I’m going to see Vis again today, this weekend” the Scarlet Witch said happily while she sat down next to her friend, “I think I really like him, you know?”

“Uh uh,” she replied without even taking her eyes off the book she was reading at that time, which was, ironically, an unrequited love novel.

“Are you okay?” Wanda put her hand on her shoulder, trying to get her attention, “You have been acting weird lately.”

“Yeah, I’m fine. Don’t worry, it’s just tiredness” she looked right into her beautiful blue eyes, which was a mistake. She loved Wanda’s eyes, how they were able to tell a story with just taking a look at them. Trying her best to not steal a kiss from her, she turned to her book again, “Nothing a good night of sleep can’t fix. Now go get ready to meet Vision, you don’t wanna be late, right?”

“Yeah, I should get going” Wanda got up from the couch, “I wish things would get back to normal. We could have a double date, me, Vis, you, and maybe Sam? He’s totally into you.”

She scoffed, but kept her eyes on the book, “It wouldn’t matter. I’m not into Sam.”

“Maybe I can change that” Wanda said with a mischievous smile on her face, “I’ll see you in three days!”

She followed Wanda with her eyes as she left the living room, mentally cursing herself for not telling her to stay with her that weekend. She should have told her long ago how she really felt about her. Maybe if she did, Wanda wouldn’t be leaving to meet with Vision. Maybe if she did, Wanda would be lying on her lap while she read to her. But now it was too late, and she was already in love with someone else.

Three days later, Wanda came back to the safe house with the biggest smile on her face. After putting her bags in the middle of the living room, she went straight to her closest friend’s room to tell her how everything went with Vision. But when she entered the bedroom, she saw that it was completely empty. She had only a few personal belongings and some clothing, but everything was gone, along with her. There was a piece of paper on top of her bed with a polaroid picture attached to it. Wanda grabbed both of the items and started reading.

I hate to say I love you, when it’s so hard for me. And I hate to say I want you, when you make it so clear you don’t want me. I’m sorry Wanda, but my heart can’t take it anymore. Maybe we’ll meet again someday. I love you forever and always, never forget that.

Wanda then looked carefully at the polaroid picture – it was taken by Natasha a few weeks ago. They were hugging each other and they both looked happier than ever. The Scarlet Witch ran out of the safe house, trying to see if she was still in time to catch her, but it was too late. She was gone forever, and she was not gonna come back.
