"Good morning."
“Ah, good morning, Pacifica.” Your FATHER’S voice lilts with affected poise. “Punctual as always, my dear.”
You are, in fact, 15 MINUTES EARLY. You decide not to point this out.
MOTHER doesn’t even bother to say hello at all, continuing her conversation with FATHER as if you were never there at all. “You know, I’m really loving the diversity we’re bringing out this year. A healthy mix of billionaires and millionaires.”
Oh, NOW she decides to realize you’re there.
“Have a look at the guestbook yourself, Pacifica.” She slides a FOLDER toward you. “It doesn’t hurt to review things.”
Of course it doesn’t. After all, you’ve already looked at the GUESTBOOK yourself a hundred times over this last week. With all the LAST MINUTE ADDITIONS flying around, it pays to stay updated.
Perhaps there’s some things you could stand to look over again?
>[ABSOLUTELY NOT. IF YOU HAVE TO LOOK AT THAT THING ONE MORE TIME, YOU’LL SET IT ON FIRE.]
>[AT LEAST HAVE A CUP OF COFFEE FIRST BEFORE DEALING WITH THAT BULLSHIT. IT’S WHAT YOU DESERVE.]
>[GO OVER SOME FAMILIAR NAMES. IT WOULDN’T HURT TO REMEMBER A FRIENDLY FACE, AND IT MIGHT HELP DESTRESS.]
>[GO OVER SOME UNFAMILIAR NAMES. IT PAYS TO BE PREPARED.]
